Reading to teach. Much solid meat and a few delicacies, but not as good as the first volume. Selection and commentary are weaker.

Awesome compliation from some of the best literature written during the Renaissance and Reformation periods as well as speeches and decrees from incredible historical figures like Elizabeth I and Martin Luther. Perfect for those who want a well rounded introduction to 15th/16th century writings but don't know how to get started. Nice collection of writings showing the thoughts and attitudes of people from approximately 500-1500BC. As with any collection, I liked some better than others, overall I enjoyed the editors choices. My favorite was "the Praise of Folly" by Desiderius Erasmus. This is as applicable now as when it was written in 1509. Nice collection of writings showing the thoughts and attitudes of people from approximately 500-1500BC.
