   خلصته أخيرًا يا سادة... امرأة وحيدة دراسة جميلة عن فروغ فرخزاد التي كانت حياتها نابضة بالحيوية واختطفها الموت وهي في أوج عطاءها الشعري، والسينمائي، وفي الرسم أيضًا. لا يقوم مايكل بتتبع حياة فروغ، ولكن في التأثيرات التي عايشتها. إن القارئ لشعرها يعرف منذ البدء أن الشاعرة تستمد صورها من تجاربها في المنزل، الحديقة... ولم تكن كالرجال، الذين هاجموها دومًا، فهي لم تبدي اهتمامًا في السياسة. ولم تدخل اللوائح الأدبية "حاملة معها ارتباك الـ"أنا" التي يستخدمها الكتاب الذكور طبيعيًا في كتاباتهم" لقد كان شعرها خلصته أخيرًا يا سادة... امرأة وحيدة دراسة جميلة عن فروغ فرخزاد التي كانت حياتها نابضة بالحيوية واختطفها الموت وهي في أوج عطاءها الشعري، والسينمائي، وفي الرسم أيضًا. لا يقوم مايكل بتتبع حياة فروغ، ولكن في التأثيرات التي عايشتها. إن القارئ لشعرها يعرف منذ البدء أن الشاعرة تستمد صورها من تجاربها في المنزل، الحديقة... ولم تكن كالرجال، الذين هاجموها دومًا، فهي لم تبدي اهتمامًا في السياسة. ولم تدخل اللوائح الأدبية "حاملة معها ارتباك الـ"أنا" التي يستخدمها الكتاب الذكور طبيعيًا في كتاباتهم" لقد كان شعرها بسيطًا لكنه ذا معنى عميق في هز الكبت الاجتماعي ونصرة الأنثى من القيد في شكل الأب، الزوج... والشعر عندها يعني حياة كاملة، لذا بقيت أمينة لشعرها الدرجة التي اخذت الخطوة الجريئة التي كانت ستعني عدم رؤيتها لابنها واحتمالية تربيته على كرهها، أقول، الخطوة كانت في طلبها الطلاق من زوجها دون مسوغ واضح والذي كان القانون لا يحبذه ويدعم فيه الرجل كاملًا. وضّح مايكل صعوبة كتابة سيرة ذاتية لكاتب/ة في إيران وذلك في الشعور بالإحترام حول كاتب ما. ومما يجعل الكاتب يتجنب ذكر أمور ومواضيع إما يخجل من ذكرها كاتب السيرة عن الشاعر، أو قد تعكس آراءه السياسية التي قد تؤثر عليه لاحقًا، في مجتمع، وقتها على الأقل، يؤمن بالخوف من الضعيف المجهول الذي قد يصبح يومًا ما مهمًا! لذا قد تكون هذه الدراسة لمايكل هلمان وهي بشكلها هذه الخارجة عن المجتمع الفارسي ذو فائدة أكبر وموضوعية أكثر. ترجمة جميلة كالعادة من المجلس الوطني، وممتازة حتى في طبعاتها. شئ آخر يعجبني في إصدارات المجلس. وذلك في تغذيتها للوحش "الحضرمي" في داخلي، أعني السعر! ;-)

   After reading Song of a Captive Bird by @jdarznik, I turned right to the bibliography to learn more. Options available in English are slim - a few volumes of translated poetry, links to articles, and this little biography. If you're not familiar with her (I wasn't), Forugh Farrokhzad was an Iranian poet who came into prominence in the 50s and 60s. She wrote modern, intimate poetry from a distinctly feminine voice that attracted and scandalized her readers. Her decision to pursue a creative life After reading Song of a Captive Bird by @jdarznik, I turned right to the bibliography to learn more. Options available in English are slim - a few volumes of translated poetry, links to articles, and this little biography. If you're not familiar with her (I wasn't), Forugh Farrokhzad was an Iranian poet who came into prominence in the 50s and 60s. She wrote modern, intimate poetry from a distinctly feminine voice that attracted and scandalized her readers. Her decision to pursue a creative life came at great cost, though - for every constraint she threw off, she both freed and isolated herself a bit more. Drawing from interviews of Forugh's friends and family, the first two chapters cover her personal life and career, up until her tragic death at only 32. The other three chapters discuss her poetry in great depth, often quoting full poems, which I really appreciated! Hillmann follows the progression of her poems from the personal and domestic, to political and feminist, to claiming a voice larger than just herself. This isn't one of those nonfiction books that reads like a novel, but that's okay. The writing doesn't get in the way and stays concise. This was especially fascinating after Song of a Captive Bird; the novel helped me to put the poetry and biographical details in context, while the biography helped me see how Darznik used fiction to bring Forugh to life. Definitely recommend if you read the novelization of her life and want to learn more!

   هر چند کتاب متوسطیه و گاهی به اطلاعات غیر ضروری درباره ی نزدیکان فروغ و پرداخته و هر چند نویسنده ایران پژوهی غیر ایرانیه و سعی در دسته بندی و کشف ارتباط مبانی شعری و زندگینامه ایِ فروغ با اساطیر و فرهنگ ایرانی داره و این تلاش رو به سطحی گویی هم می‌کشونه، اما بهم فهموند که چرا در تمام این سال ها چنان شیفته و شیدای فروغ بودم و هستم. شعر فروغ، شعری فردگرایانه‌ست و به جاودانگی پیوند زدنِ فردیت برای من آرزوی نهفته و بزرگیه که باعث شده به فروغ، کسی که درست همین کار رو کرده و همین اثر رو گذاشته، عشق و هر چند کتاب متوسطیه و گاهی به اطلاعات غیر ضروری درباره ی نزدیکان فروغ و پرداخته و هر چند نویسنده ایران پژوهی غیر ایرانیه و سعی در دسته بندی و کشف ارتباط مبانی شعری و زندگینامه ایِ فروغ با اساطیر و فرهنگ ایرانی داره و این تلاش رو به سطحی گویی هم می‌کشونه، اما بهم فهموند که چرا در تمام این سال ها چنان شیفته و شیدای فروغ بودم و هستم. شعر فروغ، شعری فردگرایانه‌ست و به جاودانگی پیوند زدنِ فردیت برای من آرزوی نهفته و بزرگیه که باعث شده به فروغ، کسی که درست همین کار رو کرده و همین اثر رو گذاشته، عشق و احترام زیادی بورزم. سرودنِ یک زندگی، تمامِ یک زندگی. این چیزیه که واقعا برای من ارزشمنده.

   I was given this book by an Iranian friend who had a tragic story. She was the illegitimate daughter of a woman who had been abused by her cousin. Her mother had been moved to the United States and she did not have an easy time of it. Through it all she was very upbeat and had a great sense of humor. This book showed me that the county of Iran is a lot more complicated that a few minutes of News can show.
