"When Carl Sandburg asked in his Chicago Poems, close to a hundred years ago, for 'a voice to speak to me in the day end, / A hand to touch me in Poetry. This anthology brings together a sampling of some of the best poets working in Chicago and the surrounding region. From all corners of the city, these poets are crafting a voice for Chicago literature in the new century. "When Carl Sandburg asked in his Chicago Poems, close to a hundred years ago, for 'a voice to speak to me in the day end, / A hand to touch me in the dark room / Breaking the long loneliness, ' little did he know his city would be so fully and lovingly answered and so honored. Chicago is once again transformed by poetry. An excellent anthology. Each poet is given several pages worth of space, with their poems proceeded by a short bio and author's statement. It's wonderful to read an anthology where most of the poets are new to me; my copy now has lots of notes sprawled in the margins and the names of many of the writers are circled for easy finding later. I enjoyed reading this. *Won through First-Reads. Thanks! An excellent anthology. Each poet is given several pages worth of space, with their poems proceeded by a short bio and author's statement. After adding books to owned books[shelf goodreads provides] I lost ratings and review. Will attempt to add the review. Books won on goodreads giveaways that is missing review due to this are books I have enjoyed. On a later date I will attempt to remember what I have written about them and will rewrite them.

More experimental than my usual tastes, but well put together. The poet bios, photos and statements are a nice inclusion.
