Well, this wasn't quite what I'd hoped. Most of the work included here is not in any kind of context, meaning that most of it doesn't relate to any existing work of fantasy. I was hoping for book covers, or paintings inspired by some form of fiction, and though there are some of these, they are far and few between. What we have here are just seemingly random fantasy drawings. There is a lot of portfolio work here, much of which didn't greatly impress me. I really interesting book to read. A lot of the art has aged very poorly, but that's what makes the book special. It's a fantasy art book from the early 00's, where people were suddenly given a ton of new tools as digital art became the standard. However, no one new how to use any of the legion of effects, colors, pens, chalks, pencils, etc. in conjunction with each other to make it look good or even coherent. So you end up with some beautiful art, and some stuff that looks like a goth kid makin I really interesting book to read. So you end up with some beautiful art, and some stuff that looks like a goth kid making album art for their GFs metal band. Also there's premium OG Ravnica-Timespiral art in here which is a definite reason to find a copy.

An decent collection of Fantasy Art in various mediums - both traditional and digital. Within the digital realm, the programs used were: Photoshop, Painter, ArtRage, Sketchbook Pro and some 3D software. There were a couple of artists whose work I was familiar with (Rebbeca Guay and William O'Connor), but for the most part it is a group of "lesser" known artists within the Fantasy genre. Surprisingly I found many of the watercolor pieces to be the most interesting. A paragraph about the artwork accompanies each piece.

Remarkable! This book contains awsome pictures and details on the art - I am finding it so very fascinating. This is one of those "Once you start - you just can't stop" books which depicts in detail the art, the artists behind the art and details of how the art came to be. Great for those interested in fantasy art. Remarkable! This book contains awsome pictures and details on the art - I am finding it so very fascinating. I really enjoyed this book both as a fan and as an artist. It allowed me to see a nice array of styles and media in modern fantasy genre art. I found it quite inspiring and occasionally pull it out to see my favorite images again. As a bonus, it comes with an artist directory with websites and other info so you can go see what's for sale and where to buy it if you really like their work. :-D I really enjoyed this book both as a fan and as an artist. Not that good, not enough inspiring pieces. Too many of them associated with RPG manuals and collectible card sets. Spectrum series is much better.
