I borrowed this book by mistake, but decided to read it anyway. I am very impressed with author's entrepreneurial spirit and thorough knowledge of music. Until now, I haven't realized how popular polka was in America. It's a great music genre for dancing and shows. After reading the book I am looking forward to explore it in greater detail. BTW: I cannot imagine k.d. lang singing polka, but "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy". I received this book via the Goodreads First Reads program. From the start, I had a connection with this book. I'm not sure if it was because I am a musician myself, or the fact that Willie Nelson wrote one of the forewords, or just that Jimmy Sturr has a fascinating story - it could be any one of those things, because this was an excellent book. It details his entire career, and even talks about his band members. If you're a fan of polka music, or just music in general, I'd definitely recommend t I received this book via the Goodreads First Reads program. From the start, I had a connection with this book.
