http://kachildrensbookreviews.blogspo... A and I enjoyed this story I think more so because we haven't seen fireflies in forever. So for me it was neat to be able to explain what Maisy was to A. Great lesson within the book that if you capture a bug or animal you should let them go. There is rhyming in the story so that helped it flow nicely. A and I had fun with the rhyming as that is what she is learning in school. The pictures were very cute! http://kachildrensbookreviews.blogspo... Genre: Modern Fantasy Grade range: 2nd-4th grade Review: I thought this was a cute little rhyming book for younger elementary kids! By the end of the book it has little lessons the kids would have learned! Such as, friendships! Which is a good thing to talk about at those ages!

This book is an engaging read aloud for primary students. This is a sweet, rhyming story about a firefly and friendship. The text and illustrations will keep young children engaged and has a good lesson to share.

Adorable What an adorable tale that tugged at the heart! The rhyming was an added touch that made the story even more endearing.

Maisy is a firefly, and the end of spring is approaching. Maisy knows this means she has a new job to do: show off her best shine for the children of summertime. Maisy is nervous. She picked out a child who looked like she could be friends with. Oddly though, the little girl was holding a jar. The little girl wants her to be her friend…forever. Lucy isn’t sure what’s wrong with her new firefly. She doesn’t seem too happy in her new jar home. This is a sweet story about friendship. Sometimes children have a hard time distinguishing from the fact that if someone isn’t with you, they are not your friend. This is a great book to use to teach children that difference, especially if a friend is moving away. It’s also a good tool to use to teach children empathy towards animals. Sometimes it is not in their best interest to keep an animal as caged pet, and the end of the book shows this lesson quiet well.
