This is like The Secret but for people who don't like magical thinking. On a more serious note, like all good self-help books, you will probably read this and think "that's just common sense" but then ask yourself this: "If it is common sense, why am I not doing it?" Plot summary This book describes the theory and practice behind Weldon Long's amazing journey from high school dropout, derelict dad, and prison inmate to upright, wealthy, contributing member of the human community. The first three chapters are theoretical and deal primarily with the importance of the thoughts that dominate our stream of consciousness. The first three chapters are theoretical and deal primarily with the importance of the thoughts that dominate our stream of consciousness. Long emphasizes that thoughts produce feelings, which produce expectations that eventually come true. In other words, we indeed are what we think and our lives will never amount to more than our dreams. The second part of the book is more interesting and innovative and deals with the practice of turning your life around by preparing a "prosperity plan". The author details several steps such as describing our dreams in great detail, creating incredible focus (this really helped me!), and forging an emotional bond with the dreams and goals that we laid out in the previous steps, a bond that will keep us consistently on the path to our dreams and thus inevitably propel us towards their realization. My opinion I have read numerous self-help books in my life, perhaps close to two hundred, and this one has to be one of the best. A lot of self-help books tell what you should do but very few tell you exactly how to do it in such a clear and simple way. I'll say it again: The instructions for detailing your dreams, focusing, and creating the necessary emotional bond are clear, precise and easy to understand. Personally I believe that taking complexity and making it simple is an act of genius, therefore, this is a book of genius. Thus, implementation of the practical principles detailed by Long is simple, easy and effective. The fact that Long himself managed to use this system to extricate himself from such a hopeless and miserable situation proves to the reader that these principles really work and serves as inspiration. As Long puts it: "If a loser like me managed to do it while in jail, surely you can too." And he's probably right. So all you have to do is start working on the exercises detailed in the book and see where it takes you. I'll confess that I was so fired up by the book that I started putting together my "prosperity plan" while I was reading, and I must admit that I have never been so focused in my life (though I haven't become a millionaire yet…). In fact, this new blog is part of fulfilling my dreams. Pros: The writing is extremely clear, very inspiring and sometimes even moving. The exercises are easy to understand and implement and seem to have a profound effect. Cons: I'm grasping at straws here...well the title is terrible. I have no idea why the book is called "Prosperity Mindset Training for Sales and Business Professionals". This is a book for everyone, even high school students will benefit from it (and probably learn more from it than from their entire sojourn through the education system, but that's another issue…). Who should read it: anyone who feels stuck in life, anyone who urgently desires change, and anyone who has trouble focusing, setting goals, or being consistent (that probably doesn't leave out all that many humans, does it?). Bottom line: This is a great book, really one of a kind, and I cannot recommend it enough. If you are serious about changing your life, do yourself a favor and buy it. Read it through and do the exercises, and start your refocused, personal journey to the life of your dreams.

I’ll say that it is absolutely an impressive feat that Long found himself imprisoned in federal prisons on three occasions for over a decade then moved onto making millions of dollars less than a couple years after he got out. THAT is amazing willpower, determination, and hard work. I’ll also say that he doesn’t address environmental factors well (ex. Systemic racism, sexism, etc.) and how they affect this very optimistic view he has. He is a white man so it makes sense that they aren’t addressed because he hasn’t been affected by these things, but he SHOULD’VE addressed them. These are MASSIVE barriers to many people that can sometimes be insurmountable not matter how hard you work. It’s not an excuse, it’s a fact.

Weldon Long's story removes all excuses. He implements the success principles we have all come to know through Stephen Covey, James Allen, Thoreau, and others after being in prison for the first half of his life and then sets out to build a $20m company over 5 years, restores a beautiful and fruitful relationship with his son, and creates a life where there was only destruction prior to his encounter with these teachings. Positively Inspired I read this book on direction of a coach in a new field I am choosing to pursue. At 55 years old the thought of starting a new reality is somewhat daunting. If that's what I thought, it surely is what I was going to encounter. Sometimes you just have to be open to seeing the same thing in a different way. Dumping my box and starting today. After all yesterday is a wrap. I will be sending this in hard copy to my son. He is handsome and charming. He is also in prison. "The Power of Consistency" by Weldon Long is a true rags to riches story of how a career criminal changed his thoughts and became a contributing member of society as well as quite wealthy. Main take away is to have a plan, the rituals you will perform to achieve those goals and a morning meditation where you review your plan and recommit to the rituals. The rituals are for example making six cold calls a day. By programming your subconscious in this way you develop a habit, and your subconscious "The Power of Consistency" by Weldon Long is a true rags to riches story of how a career criminal changed his thoughts and became a contributing member of society as well as quite wealthy. this is a book I will return to time and time again. there is nothing earth shattering here, only the most straightforward, no BS delivery I've heard in ages. the author's reading is uplifting and exciting to me, and it's exactly what I need to return to the basics when human nature takes lulls me back into my comfort zone. and we all know, nothing exceptional happens inside one's comfort zone. this is a book I will return to time and time again. there is nothing earth shattering here, only the most straightforward, no BS delivery I've heard in ages. the author's reading is uplifting and exciting to me, and it's exactly what I need to return to the basics when human nature takes lulls me back into my comfort zone. and we all know, nothing exceptional happens inside one's comfort zone.

Repeat repeat repeat This book was very consistent in delivering the message, if you tell yourself one thing, yet do something else you will go crazy. A book on consistency needs repetitiveness. This book was very consistent in repeating what is important to remain consistent.

It's a solid material, with a hope of change via consistency. 3 stars - because there are several reflections, which could be grasped much better from the original sources. For example: see Tony Robbins and Stephen Covey. Yes. Read it! Being consistent is the most difficult aspect of chasing after goals for people who have the ability and skill to accomplish those goals. There are some good techniques and motivational thoughts to help in being consistent in here. I found a lot of value.

For every complex guru thesis that exists, this book is a different approach. The "power" is in doing the things we know we should be doing with frequency and consistency. If you make more calls, generally you talk to more people. If you workout more frequently you get in better shape. For every complex guru thesis that exists, this book is a different approach. This is a good inspirational story of someone who turned their life around following the teachings of Stephen Covey, Napoleon Hill and others. It's a nice reminder of how to set meaningful goals and how to review them daily to achieve the success you're looking for. This was handed out to the entire company and it was suggested we all read it. It wasn't anything I haven't heard before, but most books about success aren't. I did appreciate the reinforced message and took away some good notes to put into practice. This was handed out to the entire company and it was suggested we all read it.
