This is like a child's book report. Only giving it 2 stars because I did learn some factoids about my beloved Mr. Rogers! This is like a child's book report. Only giving it 2 stars because I did learn some factoids about my beloved Mr. Rogers!

A quick read (100 pages in large type)...very touching and with some great material not just about Fred Rogers himself but also about the show. For example, there was a nice section on the geography of The Land of Make Believe. I had no idea! But taking a LOT away from the good content was the actual writing. Most distracting was the overuse of adverbs. In order as I encountered them: Hugely Involved Greatly Upset Immensely Enjoyed Hugely Exciting Immensely Enjoyed (again) Exceedingly Simple Hugely Infl A quick read (100 pages in large type)...very touching and with some great material not just about Fred Rogers himself but also about the show. (Side note: This is one of the many reasons President Trump sounds so unintelligent when he speaks.). Another reviewer said this reads like “a child’s book report”. That is an apt description. Add to that the typos and weird layout of the book (never allowing a paragraph to span two pages, etc), and what great content is here is overshadowed by the feeling that the author slapdashed this together for a quick buck.

It moves and reads like a high school level research paper. It's okay for very basic facts but no emotion. I get the feeling it belongs in a school library. I did learn a few new things, like Mr Rogers mother hand knitting all of his sweaters. I see a rise in the interest of Mr Rogers and new fans, due to the new movie and the ongoing popularity of Daniel Tiger. It moves and reads like a high school level research paper. This book is a quick read, only 100 pages. The writing is more like a report than a book. Also his birthday is incorrect. It says he was born March 28th when it is actually March 20th. Wonder how many other errors there are.

I worked in childcare for 20 years. Because of this, I grew to love and admire Mr. Rogers. He was one of my top role models in life, as a child and as an adult. If you work with children, this is a must read. He had such a genuine kindness, compassion, love and understanding for children and their fragility. He only wanted to make the world a better place for them and this book testifies to that.

Mister Rogers is a saint here in Pittsburgh and deserves so much more than this. For a quick children's book I can see that, but it reads like someone's presentation of his life. All that was missing were the slides. Mister Rogers is a saint here in Pittsburgh and deserves so much more than this. There are only a few biographies written about him and I have purchased three. This one is small, only a little over 100 pages. It's poorly written and not worth any time or money. I had hoped that it might be a 'kid-friendly' option to share with my grandchildren, but it's not even that. I have purchased the other biographies of this inimitable, kindly, talented, and gentle man who charmed and educated all of us for over 30 years on TVs "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood." He is so worth learning more about, but not via this particular volume.

The book is good for a basic overview of Mister Rogers' neighborhood, but I'd like more in-depth information, so I will probably look into other volumes. I thought I was getting a complete biography by an expert, but this is amateur. It was poorly written with several punctuation and grammatical errors. The information was simple and repetitive. When the book arrived, I was susprised at how short it was and how no pictures were included.
