EDIT: This is based off of TV show called Bravest Warriors and I had no idea about it when I first read this. Context and target audience are important and I had no idea originally that this wasn't exactly targeted at very small children. I initially gave this a 2 out of 5 but with proper context I have raised the score. I LOVE Catbug in the show. I will leave my original review below but it no longer applies. My opinion as shifted. I probably still wouldn't give this mistakenly to a very small EDIT: This is based off of TV show called Bravest Warriors and I had no idea about it when I first read this. I initially gave this a 2 out of 5 but with proper context I have raised the score. I LOVE Catbug in the show. I will leave my original review below but it no longer applies. My opinion as shifted. I probably still wouldn't give this mistakenly to a very small child, but it has improved drastically in my esteem with the show as a reference. Original review: It's cute but some of the content caught me by surprise for a kids book. The primary thing that bothered me was Catbug physically harming an ex-girlfriend, whether accidental or otherwise. Its facial expression isn't contrite in that picture compared to the previous picture where it was visibly upset after breaking someone else's possession. Then praying at an alter. That's not that bad but I'm slightly averse to any kinds of religious messages for small children who are impressionable and not yet old enough to make up their mind on their own about religion. I'm not against people having religion but I feel it should be something they come to choose later on, not be something forced upon them through various media throughout childhood. That may be unavoidable though. Who knows so I don't want to nit-pick about that aspect too much. Lastly I was a little jarred by how dark this could get. "Don't jump into the bay" is probably good advice but a very casual reference to suicide. Older children's literature can get super dark so this doesn't bug me too terribly much but with how cute the illustrations are I just wasn't expecting that. The whole thing raised my eyebrows but I probably wouldn't recommend this for small children primarily because of the ex-girlfriend bit.

From Impossibear to Gayle to Space Chickens and Wankershim, the Bravest Warriors references are very prominent in this Catbug book. Everything is Okay! has become an adorable Catbug mantra and if you enjoy Bravest Warriors, anything on Cartoon Hangover and Adventure Time, this book is a great addition to your bookshelf. This also is one of the books that has some sort of rhyming scheme which lends itself beautifully to the Catbug personality. Definitely recommend!

I like this Catbug book because of the positive message. Even though it takes place in Catbug's universe of strange creatures and events, no matter what planet you live on, sometimes you just need someone to tell you that everything is going to be just fine. And honestly, who better than this cute little critter? Everything is OOooookay!!! :-) I like this Catbug book because of the positive message.
