The first part made me angry for how anyone could treat a innocent little kitten so mean because they thought he was “bad luck”. Luckily Hedge found a good, kind person. I wish the story was a bit longer. That’s why 4 stars. For anyone who loves cats they will like this book.

Fear of Little Black Cat I loved this book as relates to how my little black cat behaves. Milly is very timid & hides from strangers so it made me think about what has happened to her in the four years of being a stray. The book is a very good read for anyone who loves cats.

A cat's viewpoint A story that looks at the world from the view of an abused little kitten that had done nothing wrong. An excellent insight, esp in the view of a black cat. Hedge fund! What a delightful story! I’d like 10 minutes with the monster who beat him. I would love to prove what goes around comes around. He is a brave boy and a real winner.

A harrowing story tissues needed! I wasn't really sure why the author wrote such a harrowing account, but by the end I thought maybe if it served to enlighten people about cruelty from the animals point of view then perhaps I was worth it? This was a great book. I wish it had been longer. Maybe go into his life with Quint etc. I think this book was very well written. I chose the book because I have my very first kitty and he looks just like Hedge. I also wish it could have been longer and gave more information about his new life.

People can be cruel but sometimes you get lucky and meet one that's not I have a Hedge. I am his third and last owner. Actually I am Gianni's Mommy. He also is black but with a little white bib. Medium fur with a fluffy tail. I don't know what happened in his first 5 or 6 weeks with owner one. Owner 2 tried but because her Mom was sick she traveled a lot and spent months with her. Someone came to feed him in a cage. They used dog Lee pads. She tried because our animal control was known to put cat People can be cruel but sometimes you get lucky and meet one that's not I have a Hedge. I am his third and last owner. Owner 2 tried but because her Mom was sick she traveled a lot and spent months with her. Someone came to feed him in a cage. They used dog Lee pads. She tried because our animal control was known to put cats down. I was told about him by a friend who was feeding him. He was a very scared little cat and she had to wrap him in a towel to hold him. When I adopted him he was 6 months old. I started him out in a bathroom upstairs. He was so scared to be out of the cage he jumped up the wall about 4 feet many times. I had to work with him to trust me. He pretty much trusts me now but no one else. It may take years to trust but he now uses all the litter boxes. Is friends with 3 of my other Kittys except Belladonna who is a bipolar cat. Seriously! She also had a sad past but we Love them all and show them this is their forever home. They can trust in that and our Love for them. Don't give up on a cat or Kitten that may seem like Hedge, Gianni or Belladonna. You will be missing out on a lot of Love. Patience is the key and lots of trust.

Very good idea of how black cats are stereotyped. I would recommend this book to my grandchild when she comes to visit .
