I know I'll get reported for that image...but it nicely fits this anthology.... As I am one of the authors, I will refrain from rating this book. I will, however, review the other three stories. Room 7 by Kyle M. Scott Told from the perspective of Edward Slater, manager and proprietor of The Oceanside Inn, this story reveals the horrific nature of Room 7. I expected this to be a ghost story, but the only thing haunting is the superb writing and storytelling--it's simply mesmerizing. Rich with figurative language, I was pulled into the story as dark secrets and sinister deeds unfolded. I loved every minute of it--seriously, even the cringing! Especially the cringing! :-) Lake Whisper by Stuart Keane Three friends, Harold, Thomas and Richard, have planned a retreat to a place called--you guessed it, Lake Whisper. Thomas and Richard drive in together and are surprised to find that their usually-punctual friend, Harold, hasn't yet arrived. After a bizarre experience at a café, the friends find themselves drawn to a house on the lake--a spooky, isolated house infamous for its disquieting mystique. Thomas informs Richard that "...people are warned to stay away. No one comes out alive...." Yet, when they suspect their friend, Harold, might be in the house, they do what characters in horror movies and books do best...they enter the creepy house. And what they find...well, you'll have to see for yourself. Expect suspense, gore and possibly the true reason behind the name, "Lake Whisper." On a side note, I think the chef borrowed my Hillary's cheese grater! :-) Anti-Terror by Jack Rollins I'd been meaning to read Jack Rollins' book, The Seance: A Gothic Tale of Horror and Misfortune, which has been waiting for me for months within my Kindle library. I wanted to familiarize myself with Rollins' work but didn't get the opportunity. So this is my first introduction to his work and I must say, I am very impressed. The story cleverly unfolds through Stuart Scott, who, via a series of interviews, is attempting to find out the truth behind a suspected terrorist attack at a train station. We get to "meet" the witnesses and some of the people who knew the suspects. Their accounts of the things that transpired reveals that an act of terror did, indeed, occur...but not quite as it had been reported. Well-paced, suspenseful and gory, this short story may have you questioning the headlines for more sinister explanations! -----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----•-----• I feel compelled to note that within my story, "Crazy Old Lady," the possessive form of the proper noun, Dennis, has been changed from Dennis' to Dennis's, through editing or perhaps auto-correction. I know it's still technically correct, but looks so odd to me. Hopefully, it won't irk any of you as much as it irks me! :-)

Carnage: Extreme Horror is available now! Quite simply, this anthology was a pleasure to compile, with some close friends who happen to be authors. Anti-Terror, Crazy Old Lady, Lake Whisper, and Room 7 are tales of horror that will sicken, offend and disgust. Read it if you dare.

Here's the part where I tell you that I received this in exchange for an honest review, but if you know me you'll already know that I am a huge huge fan of extreme horror. I'm a splatterpunk author myself and I'm a huge fan of three of these sick demented gentleman. Carnage is my kind of anthology. The thing to remember about this aside from the obvious is that there is a great deal of talent involved here. I'm a splatterpunk author myself and I'm a huge fan of three of these sick demented gentleman. Carnage is my kind of anthology. The thing to remember about this aside from the obvious is that there is a great deal of talent involved here. The only writer I wasn't familiar with is Angel Gelique and let me tell you that this is a writer to watch out for. Crazy Old Lady is dark twisted tale of revenge and Angel captures the splatterpunk spirit. While there is a fair amount of gore and brutality you can see what motivates this woman and yes, her methods of revenge are not for the weak of stomach, Angel takes you the dark side and it proves that when done correctly there's more to extreme horror than just the gore and violence. Crazy Old Lady introduces us to a writer that I want to read more from. Women in splatterpunk or of you prefer extreme horror are a rarity and Crazy Old Lady is one hell of a story. Kicking off Carnage is Kyle M Scott's Room 7 which is exactly the kind of story you would expect from the guy who brought you Devil's Day. Kyle is the type of writer who takes the idea of extreme horror and makes it his own. Room 7 is brutal, it's jarring but the character of Edward Slater is fascinating. As a fan of Kyle Scott I knew what to expect going in and he doesn't dissapoint. This is a writer that knows what buttons to push and he assaults all of your senses. You want to stop reading but can't. The real surprise here is Jack Rollins. If you've read The Seance you know that he is one of those guys that captures the spirit of classic horror, but here has stepped up to the plate and delivers a fascinating story that proves that when you take risks they often pay off. Anti-Terror is an engrossing story that proves that when it comes to extreme horror sometimes the delivery is the key to making a story brutal. Then you have Stuart Keane who goes balls out and brings out the big guns and goes right for your throat. Lake Whisper is brutal and a great read. Kean is a writer that consistently shows us just how great extreme horror can be. This is the kind of story that extreme horror fans love and you can see this as a movie. Keane knows how to shock and offend and once you finish this story you may need a shower. Carnage as a whole exposes us to the dark side of human nature. When you brush aside the brutality and gore you begin to notice that splatterpunk is all about taking the monsters and giving them a human face. Carnage is a must read collection despite the sheer brutality of the stories.

This is a great anthology by several awesome writers. I had read books from all the authors expect Jack Rollins. I will definitely be reading more from him, as well as the others. I won a copy of this book from Jack on a promotion the authors did on Facebook. Thanks again, Jack for picking me for the win. :-) Room 7 by Kyle M. Scott - This story delves into the world of cannibalism. Do people actually do this kind of thing? Sure makes you wonder. I don't think I will be staying at The Oceanside Inn any time soon. Great story, I enjoy reading Kyle's work. He is fantastic! Crazy Old Lady by Angel Gelique. I absolutely loved this story. Great job!! Don't underestimate the power of the elderly, and don't mess with them or their family. This is my second time reading something by Angel, I will be reading more from her. Lake Whisper by Stuart Keane. I am a big fan of Stuart's work and this story ranks right up there with the rest. Are those whispers, or nature's noises by the lake? Or maybe screams of terror?? They say the noises are how the lake came to be called Lake Whisper. Read the story and decide for yourself. Anti- Terror by Jack Rollins. I am a fan! Really enjoyed this story. This is something that could happen, which is why it is a bit scary. Bomb, train station, people...yea. Plus!! My name was used in this story. Exciting! Thanks, Jack!! Kudos to some great and amazing writing and authors!! 5 out of 5 stars for sure! YMMV but I really feel like the word "extreme" lost all meaning after we started applying it to such as cheeseritos. YMMV but I really feel like the word "extreme" lost all meaning after we started applying it to such as cheeseritos.

Shocked I am shocked this book is not better than it was. It has some strong recommendations from southern authors of this genre, however I found it rather tame compared to out her books out there almost like a small snippet of shock was added just to make the genres list. It's ok for straight horror but not for the shocking and twisted it was labeled as. Shocked I am shocked this book is not better than it was.
