   Not just for Thanksgiving, this useful cookbook has down-home, relatable recipes for many dishes that we may be familiar with but have no idea how to prepare ourselves. With so many families separated during the holidays this year (2020), it is great to have step by step instructions for family favorites that the "older generation" prepared for us. From appetizers to desserts, I found the cookbook interesting as well as helpful. Not just for Thanksgiving, this useful cookbook has down-home, relatable recipes for many dishes that we may be familiar with but have no idea how to prepare ourselves.    Thanksgiving Is Coming Every year, while growing up, I heard how I had ruined Thanksgiving. How did I do this? By being born. It was my parent's first married Thanksgiving and I was born on that very day. My dad got a great meal at his parents' house and my mom was only allowed what they would give her in the hospital.    Flash forward 39 years and my youngest is born, 2 days before my birthday and 3 before Thanksgiving. I was asked what I was going to do for my birthday the next year. I told the Thanksgiving Is Coming Every year, while growing up, I heard how I had ruined Thanksgiving. How did I do this? By being born. It was my parent's first married Thanksgiving and I was born on that very day. My dad got a great meal at his parents' house and my mom was only allowed what they would give her in the hospital.    Flash forward 39 years and my youngest is born, 2 days before my birthday and 3 before Thanksgiving. I was asked what I was going to do for my birthday the next year. I told the nurses, no offense (they were the best ever) I was staying far away!    Now, for Thanksgiving, we celebrate my daughter's birthday and my birthday on Thanksgiving Day with a full Turkey meal and other things. We love this and day and all that comes with it. My father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law will be here for the day and we will have a lot of fun and food.    I am always on the lookout for something new and different to add to the meal.    I did like the book, but I didn't see anything I could add that we didn't already make or that we could actually have.    It was a free purchase from Amazon and I do recommend getting a copy, maybe there would be something you would enjoy.

   Looking Forward to Cooking I just read through this book without cooking any of the recipes. There are quite a few that look like they could be really good. If it is any indication of the recipes, the recipe I use for cornbread dressing is in this book. I know that recipe is really good. The one for chicken pot pie is very similar to my wife's recipe and that one is always a hit. I book marked several that I am looking forward to trying. I expect they too will be quite tasty. Most of the recipes in Looking Forward to Cooking I just read through this book without cooking any of the recipes. There are quite a few that look like they could be really good. If it is any indication of the recipes, the recipe I use for cornbread dressing is in this book. I know that recipe is really good. The one for chicken pot pie is very similar to my wife's recipe and that one is always a hit. I book marked several that I am looking forward to trying. I expect they too will be quite tasty. Most of the recipes in this book seem easy enough for those of us that are not chefs. I feel very confident that I can prepare the ones I plan to try.

   this is a rather uninteresting collection of recipes. some aren't even Thanksgiving-ish: meatloaf, really? chicken pot pie?     Stuffing I do wish for pictures. Nothing fancy, no elaborate staging, just point and shoot works. Lots of recipes for stuffing and use of Cajun seasoning.

    Real Cornbread Dressing Doesn't Have Bread Crumbs But the book does start out with make ahead turkey gravy, which makes it a winner right there. I didn't see a single recipe for green bean casserole - which means the recipes aren't cheats. For those of us who don't want or need to cook an all out turkey or ham dinner, there are several other recipes to make instead. The book lost two stars by putting bread in cornbread dressing, seriously.
