   Spotlight Striker was fun to read, and it was much better than I had anticipated. I especially enjoyed the "Sports Zone" sections at the beginning and end of the book. Please type your review below: I read the book called, "Spotlight striker," by Hoena / Sandoval, this book takes place at practice and soccer field. There is two main character and they are on the same soccer team, their names are, Carlos and Tou. I was wanting to find a short but kinda long book I can read but then I found this book when I was looking through my teacher's rack of books. In the book, "Spotlight Striker," at the beginning, the book describes the main characters, Carlos and Tou. Then in the book both of the boys were at their soccer team practice. While they are at practice they do a soccer move that makes them score. Their coach saw their trick move so then the coach asked them, "Think you guys can pull that off during a game?" When their coach asked that Tou was down to do it but Carlos wasn't. Then there was a game at the end of the book and it was a great game because they were losing and their team was giving up but then Tou kept their heads up and finish the game. At the ending of the book, the part was when Tou kept his team alive and not down. The team was bad because Carlos keeps getting distracted and was too worried about someone who's watching the game. But then Carlos learns and he does great at the end. They had a great game finish. I think this book was a pretty great book. I say that because in this book there are more of sportsmanship in it. Also, when there was one game a student didn't want to start off because of a family member. While through the book there is the encouragement. The author introduces the characters at the beginning of the book. The two main characters they have good communication on and off the soccer field. The things I would probably not like about this book is like I think they cramped the events and they could have had the book extend to a longer book than how it is. That is what I think about this book. For this book, I think that people who enjoy soccer or just sports would like to read it because the book shows that when you give up it doesn't help and to not worry who's watching just play how you play. Also some people who like quick reads might read this book. I don't really know what similar books there are to this book.

   Like the other books in this Sports Illustrated Kids series, the story focuses as much on character and sportsmanship as on the game itself. This one, about a young soccer player who puts pressure on himself because of a family member, is very good. I found it a little too convenient that certain information was withheld from the reader and from the central character until after the stressful soccer game, but otherwise the writing and artwork were good, if a bit rushed by the format.

   A little too light on plot for my taste. Though the book does deal with sportsmanship at a soccer match, it feels like too light of a read for most students in this age group. I would have liked more to dig into.

   Glad to have discovered these Sports Illustrated Kids graphic novels. Sports graphic novels with decent storylines. Quick reads (50ish pages) and the art will appeal to readers of all ages. Before the story begins, we meet the characters. The end includes summary, questions, glossary, etc.
