Written by a true expat of 10 years, Emily Dilling shares her insights into Paris's new food movements, the blossoming craft beer and natural wine scenes and the farmers who inspire the most creative and groundbreaking chefs in the city. Her recipes are like love letters to the people and artisans who have inspired her journey in the City of Light. This book isn't storybook Paris. And that's why it is a treasure! I stumbled upon this book in the King County digital library and it was a great find. I loved the seasonal farmers market advice, Paris restaurant recs, mini stories of Parisian entrepreneurs, and a great selection of French recipes. I always wondered why it is so hard to find kale in Europe! I plan to order a hard copy of this book for myself.

Ooo la la! My Paris Market Cookbook is a cookbook sure to delight! Divided by season with information on markets and specialty shops scattered throughout, this book is filled with lovely recipes sure to tantalize your taste buds! From first bite all you heard was "Mmmmmm!" as my family fell in love with this dish. Nearly everyone told me at least once "You HAVE to make this again...SOON!!". Next I made the Lemon Zest Madeleines. The only one who didn't enjoy it was my one daughter who doesn't care for lemon desserts, and this was very lemony! I could have sat down and ate the entire pan, personally. Yum! Breakfast brought about Baked Eggs with Fresh Chives. So simple, yet so delicious. I love them because they taste great, and you can adjust the amounts so easily. The ingredients are given for each ramekin used, with one ramekin per person. Lovely! Next up is the Forest Foraged Walnut Cake, but I didn't want to hold up my review any longer. This is a beautiful, delightful cookbook that I highly recommend!! I received a copy of this book from Storey Publishing for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Part cookbook/part guidebook, this is the book everyone should take with them for their next trip to Paris. As if you are there with Emily, she guides the reader through the seasons with different markets, producers, vendors, wine producers, restaurants and more all with an emphasis on local production. Then at the end of each season, she shares her favorite French recipes with ingredients from the markets (but not too difficult to find in the US). I liked the recipes and pictures. I always look for cookbooks with plenty of pictures. But Emily Dilling does not just write recipes. She also writes about the movement in Paris to encourage restaurants and markets to have produce from local farmers. I think this is important and I feel makes her food memoir stand out.

I'm going to Paris this year and was wondering "what do I eat". That's really a silly question. Not only does this book have great ideas, that align with the seasons, but it gives great ideas on where to buy. Plus the pictures are fabulous.
