This is a nice cookbook for those who are really into football & tailgate parties AKA Fangates The introduction is about the author & a bit about sports, mainly football & fangating. Some of the recipes I could easily pull off & manage to still make a game day bunch of goodies. Other recipes, I'd either ask a more seasoned cook in the family to try making or I'd have to just omit it & maybe work my way up to learning to make some of the harder recipes for another time After some recipes there are pictures provided, but not with all. In general, I think there's plenty of food to be made, even by a novice, that would make the gamers in your household happy to eat & find delicious & wanting more---including drinks!! I'd recommend this type cookbook to those who are heavily into tailgating, or even staying home to watch the football game. They're easy to eat foods that you not need to have tons of silverware, or place settings, just finger foods & drinks that will satisfy game day in your family I received a digital copy of this cookbook from net galley & oxmoore house publishing in return for honest review

THE HUNGRY FAN'S GAME DAY COOKBOOK by Daina Falk is the perfect cookbook for any sports fan. I enjoyed Daina Falk’s introduction. Her father was a sports agent. Thus, she literally grew up around sports. She tells the story of how she came up with the “Hungry Fan” website, in addition to some other interesting background information. She also has Tasty Tidbits information about various athletes. Being a Chicagoan, one of my favorite contributors is Michael Jordan. I love Daina’s story about the chocolate-chip cookies. I also enjoy the Jordan’s Meat-Lover’s Flatbread recipe. The book is nicely laid out and easy to follow. It is full of beautiful images. She gives great tips throughout the book. The recipes are wonderful. I love that she includes condiment recipes if you want to get away from the preservatives in store bought brands. This is an excellent cookbook for any kitchen. It would make a great gift for any sports fan. I could easily see this as a go-to gift for my friends and family. Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The main feature that separates this cookbook from others is it includes recipes from some famous athletes like Michael Jordan, Dikembe Mutumbo, Robert Griffin III, and Boomer Esiason to name a few. And while the book does include recipes that you would expect at a sports gathering such as chicken wings, chili, burgers and sandwiches, there are some recipes that while they sounded appealing might have been better suited for a non-sports themed type of cookbook. There's a good amount of photos and interesting tidbits about the recipes throughout the book. Most of the ingredients for recipes can be found at the supermarket but there were some that you might have to search for at a gourmet store or online. Overall this is a decent cookbook that left me with some recipes that I am excited to try including Mediterranean Nachos, Fig And Prosciutto Flatbread, and Buffalo Chicken Tacos. I won this cookbook in a giveaway and that is my fair and honest review.

Who knew “fangating” was a party waiting to happen? Made me hungry reading some of the recipes. It was great to see that there were sports stars that contributed some of their favorite recipes. *I received a free ARC of from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

I reviewed this book for NetGalley. A very fun and useful cookbook. These recipes look and sound yummy and not too involved. Though designed for entertaining during sporting events (indoors and outdoors), a number of the recipes in this book could be used for meals or other kinds of entertaining, such as a potluck book club meeting. The book was well written, including Ms. Falk's contributions and the recipes of famous athletes. This is a really nice cookbook that includes a lot of game day favourites. It has a lot of recipes, with a beautiful layout and lot of tips. I have already flagged off a few recipes that I can't wait to try! The only thing I wish this book had is more pictures of the final dishes. There are several full page pictures throughout the book - and they are fantastic! However, there are several recipes that don't, and it would have been nice to include even a small photo at the end of the page. I received a pet of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review and oh my, I'm so glad I did! This is my kind of book! American 'gameday' cuisine seems so indulgent compared to the boring british pie and mash or greasy burger offerings at football matches. I'm going to be working my way through almost every recipe, these recipes will appeal to my children too so will keep the whole family happy at mealtimes, often a difficult task. Are you ready for some football? Or bacon? Daina Falk writes a cookbook heavy on people who were part of the game and still make a splash on game days. Interesting recipes and some are not traditional food, many featuring bacon. I love bacon but even some of them were too much for me. I admit that I want to try the Bacon Humus. Other than that not much else that interested me. On my bucket list is to tailgate with hard core tailgaters before a Cleveland Browns game. Growing up a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan and a rabid Columbus Blue Jackets fan, game day is just like a holiday. There are pregame rituals and activities and the food must be perfect. There are lots of cookbooks out there but I especially like this one for the many options. There are several categories and even healthy options. There are pictures to go with most recipes and I am dying to try the fried cheese curds and the healthy chipotle chicken potato skins. I can't wait to get my own copy! Some great recipes but a little fussy for game day. The food is always about salty, spicy, greasy and most of all EASY. This is a book with recipes from athletes not really cooking for game day.
