Beautiful Broken is a transparent snapshot of growing into adulthood in post modern America. The dystopian issues surrounding the world's savior since 9/11 make a blunt and provoking appearance through the eyes of a tenderly wise fiction writer: Amanda Leigh. Read and allow yourself to be changed when confronted, not only with foreign war and racial injustice, but domestic violence and oppression against the differences in the souls of humankind. My five star review of - Beautifully Broken: a Poetry Collection Written by Amanda Leigh Poems are a reflection of a writer’s soul I like to believe. Poems can be used as metaphors in daily life. Poems can be used as wedding vows. Poems can be used to portray ones feelings. Poems can be dark yet filled with life. Poems can be beautiful yet reflect the darkness in someone’s soul. Poems are a writer’s core being that reflect what they have experienced, loved, wanted and hoped for. Poems are emotions given literary form. Amanda Leigh achieved everything I just said above. I felt, I loved, I was saddened, I was renewed and I was given hope when all I felt was the loss of myself. This writer made me contemplate my own experiences through reading her poems. What more can be said then I was moved emotionally and I was finally seeing the world through the feelings given written form of this writer. There are wedding vows here, there ls love here, there is loss here and there is life here in this poetry collection. Five stars are not enough. There are no words to describe how much I was affected then what I’ve typed in the review. Read these poems and feel alive with this writers words like I felt.

I never really was a poetry reader nor writer. I must say this collection of poems really sparked my interest in the genre. This work feels very personal and authentic. The topics covered are easily relateble. Amanda writes about things that impact her life. About being an introvert and having relationships with fictional characters. Essentially about living different lives. She also writes quite a bit about love. Its not the mushy kind though. More of when its over and and when it just didn't w I never really was a poetry reader nor writer. I must say this collection of poems really sparked my interest in the genre. More of when its over and and when it just didn't work out. The tone of this book is very fitting of the Title. The book also touches on self love and acceptance. Sexuality , dealing with hate and prejudice and celebrating yourself. These poems are heartfelt and beautifully written. Some made me smile. Some made me nod. They all made me think . The author also included lovely photographs in a few pages which again fit the title of the collection. Beauty can be found in the most abstract places. my favorite poems are For Beth Contradictions Floor Boards Makeup Happy Anniversary The Darkest Part of us

Loved it!! Honestly I am not a big poetry person. That being said, I loved this collection. Amanda has written about things that are commonly talked about and things that are not. She has opened herself up, in my eyes, in this collection. It reminds me that not everything is black and white. There are many shades of gray. We all have opinions and we all deserve to be heard. I feel privileged that I got to read this collection and I am sure that many will stay with me. Amanda's voice is one of man Loved it!! Honestly I am not a big poetry person. It was truly a privilege to read this poetry collection. Each poem was a stand-alone treasure. The works were presented in such a way that the reader was immediately immersed into the settings and emotions that Amanda created. Each poem brought on a new range of intense feelings. Amanda is able to evoke a strong sense of compassion and empathy that I think the world is exponentially in need of.

A lot of this book is very personal, so it's interesting to get to know Amanda Leigh. I loved that the titles were on a piece of artwork. The poems were simple and thought-provoking. Some had more of a punch than others, and some had something a little slightly extra to take it up a notch. I especially enjoyed Leigh's use of parenthesis to add to her poetry. Good poetry. But, this is why you have journals. People read this, and then they know. Titania. Keep your poetry slightly more vague, yeah? 💃💅🏼

This collection is my favorite collection of my poems so far. I take on some issues that I've been afraid to discuss in my poetry before. Now I just open up about them and I'm glad that I did. I'm also happy about the very few love poems in this collection. At least, what are usually thought of as love poems. I hope if you pick this one up you enjoy. <3 This collection is my favorite collection of my poems so far. I take on some issues that I've been afraid to discuss in my poetry before. It's been a while since I last read a poetry, and reading this collection reminds me how poetry is just as beautiful as a novel—even so much more. I want to read them again and again.
