This series has been getting worse and worse. I don't know if I can continue to read it for much longer. I know this was a setup issue, and maybe that's why it was so boring, but I was once obsessed with this series, found it fun and refreshing and interesting, and now it's a drag. I am a fan of Kate Kane and have high hopes for the series, unlike most of the fanboy naysayers; however, coming out of The Victim Syndicate story arch, this two story arch is disjointed and feels like nothing more than a Batwoman series hype.

Admittedly, this issue is more of a flashback and setup for the rest of the arc, but as soon as I opened the book, I was struck by how absolutely fitting the art is for Batwoman Begins. Tynion, Bennett, and Oliver have big shoes to fill after Rucka, Blackman, and Williams. And they also have a lot to redeem after the way the run ended (I don't remember who the last creative team was and I don't much feel like looking it up).
