The Laws of Music was okay. I found the story somewhat boring and parts were unbelievable. The characters were fine, but nothing special. I did like how they both ended up doing what they had said as kids (she became a lawyer and he ended up a musician). All in all, it was a fine one-time read.

I enjoyed this book and probably would've given it 4 stars had it not been for the craziness at the end of the story. (view spoiler)[Bentley is murdered and Birdy is framed? Seemed too convenient and an easy way to have him completely out of the picture. (hide spoiler)] I liked how the story started, it was cute and fun and had me hooked. The rest of the story was okay, but kind of boring and lacking depth...with Max as the exception, he was great! 2.5 Stars Katie has always had a list of what she wants to accomplish in life. With the first four crossed off, she has come to a stand still. No one will hire the one lawyer who actually seeks justice instead of money. Plus her so called fiancé just happens to be a completely douche and is cheating on her. But after one mind blowing kiss with the Christian rock star Max Legend, Katie knows for sure that her life has gone in a completely different direction than she thought. What do you do then? Go to Hawaii of course! But, of course, Max Legend just so happens to be staying at the same hotel. Katie is cautious around him because of his rock start status. She doesn’t want her heart to get broken again. As she gets to know him, Katie starts to see that he is a good person. But when her best friend calls about a dead body, she has to drop everything and return home... I really had to struggle to finish this. It was boring and uninteresting to me. IDK, maybe it just wasn’t for me. I see a lot of five start reviews so probably. Characters Katie: I couldn’t stand the her. She was either whining about how she can’t get a job, her hearing fiancé, or how she can’t be with Max. Really? Just grow up and stop worrying about everything. She kept this big secret about her brother until the end of the book. And honestly, it wasn’t even that bad!! Worse definitely could have happened. All she had to do was look for him and everything would be alright. It’s not like he died or something! Max: I don’t have anything against him, but he wasn’t very interesting to me. He was pouring his heart out to Katie after just meeting her, while Katie wouldn’t tell him anything. There wasn’t much about his past, or Katie’s for that matter. Their pasts were these big things in the book, and yet we didn’t see a lot of it. His relationship with Katie didn’t seem very romantic to me. More like they were “forever friends”. And their conversations seemed kind of awkward to me.

Emily F - Seriously Sweet Reads

Interesting and sweet Christian read Interesting book. I liked the premise and that the characters kept running into each other and had deep ties (a lot of them went to the same highschool... And wow, what a highschool it must have been). I LOVED the part in Maui. I felt like the story ended a little abruptly, but I guess there's motivation to read the rest of the books in the series. All in all, pretty clean, sweet book, with some focus on Christian themes Interesting and sweet Christian read Interesting book. This was an enjoyable read by an new author for me. It’s a sweet, feel-good story that left me with a feeling that things do turn out for the best, and that lives are linked for a purpose. The story had a good flow with developed characters and kept me engrossed until the end. Would recommend this book and look forward to the next one in this series.

Keep the faith What a sweet empowering story. Katie faces many struggles throughout her life. Questioning why and how things could turn out the way they do. Meeting Max changes everything she thought she knew and believed. He shows her how he puts faith in all things working out as they should.

I enjoyed this sweet contemporary romance. This is a Christian book, if talking about God and your spiritual being, this is not a book for you. I enjoyed reading Katie and Max’s story. There is a bit of suspense in the book.

Truly not a great book. The couple didn't make sense, the writing was poor, and the twist at the end made no sense. Not to mention, the ending was silly. I liked Maxwell, but the girl wasn't great. Overall, I'm glad I got it for free, since this was lacking in SO many ways. Truly not a great book. This was a quick read for me. The hero is a lead singer in a Christian band. He likes to go barefoot.. and for some reason Rich Mullins popped into my head. Kiki seemed a bit flat and the most interesting stuff happened in a flash at the end of the book and all explained in the epilogue!
