Very enjoyable cookbook. I have tagged quite a few recipes I want to try from fish tacos to spicy pork chops. Enjoyed the pictures as well. What a beautiful family.
Marianne –
Gorgeous book. All of the recipes sound magnificent and not too complicated like in some cookbooks. My mouth was literally watering while reading it. My only complaint is that there weren't pictures for every recipe. Otherwise...amazing! Gorgeous book. All of the recipes sound magnificent and not too complicated like in some cookbooks. I did not read this word for word, just enough to know that I will put it on my wish list for birthdays, Mother's Day, or Christmas! The recipes seem to be easy to do and ones that my family would like. I just didn't feel I want to copy them.........so I want to purchace my own copy. Anyone who has read my cookbook reviews knows I'm a bit ... particular. I like my recipes all on one page, I hate useless pictures of stuff rather than great pictures of finished products and prefer (read: WANT) measurements in weight rather than volume for baked goods. I've taken issue with good authors capitalizing on their fame by wandering into writing cookbooks. Like her novels Debbie Macomber's Table: Sharing the Joy of Cooking with Family and Friends is warm and friendly. Debbie added vignettes telling us how/when her characters made some of the recipes and she gives some great hints. The recipe presentations are really well done. My problem with the book is that so many of the recipes are rather pedestrian, easily found elsewhere and often not from scratch, but using pre-made "tube" rolls. I found only 6 recipes I would consider making. I recommend finding Debbie Macomber's Table: Sharing the Joy of Cooking with Family and Friends at your library before you buy it. 3 stars, C+ because... Debbie Macomber!

This is a wonderful cookbook!!! Ms. Macomber offers easy-to-understand directions as well as tips. The recipes are great for both those who don't cook on a regular basis as well as everyday cooks. Speaking of the recipes, this book is full of delicious ones. They are broken out into different categories to make it easy to find what you're looking for. My favorite one is 'Snow on the Mountain,' featuring a unique blend of ingredients, which as she notes herself, sound like they shouldn't go togeth This is a wonderful cookbook!!! I know this recipe as 'Asian Stacks,' and it truly is quite tasty. Ms. Macomber also sprinkles in family pictures as well as stories in this delightful book that will be loved by everyone, especially if you enjoy her novels (which I do!).

The back of the book references recipes from Debbie's books and movies. How's that for aromatherapy? You can read or watch one of her stories and have the food cooking or baking that the characters are talking about. I love these recipes and the pictures are really wonderful. Just ok I love Debbie Macomber's novels and have all her previous two cookbooks, which I absolutely love and have cooked numerous dishes from and count them as my favorites. I thought the recipes in this volume were ok, but I just don't think I will make them. Since I am a Texan I will never make enchiladas with beans in them😳. I know for every dish there's variations and sometimes that's a good thing. Of course her writing and storytelling is stellar, I will continue to peruse her other cookbook Just ok I love Debbie Macomber's novels and have all her previous two cookbooks, which I absolutely love and have cooked numerous dishes from and count them as my favorites. YUM!!!! Debbie has it going on!! There were not as many pictures as I would have liked, however, I think that the recipes themselves made up for it. Most of the sounded quite delicious. Some of the recipes required many ingredients, like a whole page full, some of the recipes had many intensive steps. With this being said I loved it all. I would totally buy this book for myself or my mother.

Cookbooks are to be read and enjoyed other than just reading the recipes. Debbie has comments and a story behind each recipe. She relates some of the recipes to her fictional characters. I also like how she listed menus in the back of the book. She also listed "Special Recipe Lists" which suggests recipes for special occasions. This is a very nicely done cookbook. One that I am looking forward to trying many of the recipes. Cookbooks are to be read and enjoyed other than just reading the recipes. Debbie has comments and a story behind each recipe. I checked this out from my library and went through it reading all the recipes and making a list of the recipes I would potentially make. By the last page I had 37 recipes listed and decided I simply needed to order my own copy. With over 300 cookbooks in my house you wouldn’t think I needed another but sometimes i need new inspiration. There is nothing like a hardback cookbook with down to earth recipes and great color photograph.

I love this one! The sweet little comments, the photos and the little notes about the different recipes make this more than a cookbook! The recipes look amazing, and I especially love the before you use this book section. I've never seen a cookbook that explains what is meant when oil, milk, cream and such are mentioned so the cook gets the right ingredients and doesn't mess up the food. When I checked this out at the library I really hoped it wouldn't be one of those cookbooks with ingredients not readily available and and ones you can't even pronounce..let alone know what the heck it is. French and Italian I am not. I loved this cookbook! Such nice recipes that are so homey. I am very glad I checked it out a the library and plan to buy it now. As far as cookbooks go this is a good one. It has photos of most of the recipes. This seems to be regular people food, with accessible ingredients. There are little blurbs about the recipes to endear them to you. Over all a great reference.

This book caught my attention because I've enjoyed several of Debbie Macomber's novels. For me, as a cookbook, this fell short. I am a visual person, so a perfect cookbook would have a color photo of the finished dish and plated, accompanying each recipe. I found several recipes in this book I would like to try including a different potato salad, an enchilada bake and I don't remember what else, but they all sounded delicious! I also learned more about her family and how important they are to Debbie. Loved the recipes but would have liked a picture of each dish. Makes me more inspired to try the recipes if I know what it is supposed to look like.
Barbara –
No unique recipes. Going to a neighborhood get together and looked for something different. Not in this book.
