Absurdist humor. Not my thing (at least, not this type). No rating because it's a personal/mood thing. Absurdist humor. Not my thing (at least, not this type). No rating because it's a personal/mood thing.

Die Noon by Elise Sax is another winner by Ms. Sax. I know that when I sit down to read a book by her that I will enjoy a mystery filled with quirky characters and laugh-out-loud moments that will keep me turning the pages. Gladie and Spencer, who? I'm ready to move to Goodnight, New Mexico. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own. Die Noon by Elise Sax is another winner by Ms. Sax. A very fun read. A wide variety of interesting characters that make this a humorous yet a bit over the top funny mystery. The mystery is solved with a surprising solution which seems a bit sudden. What seems to be a background story leaves us with a big cliffhanger. I will be reading the next installment in the series.

Love this new series. A spin-off from the Match Maker series, it has the classic notes of similarity - humour, mystery, kooky people, fun heroine, and two hotties. Add a couple of old dogs and what more could you want for a relaxing, cosy read that leaves you smiling and feeling good? Add to that an undercurrent of more serious proportions with the underlying mystery of a murderer that is obviously going to be the darker theme under the fun that will continue in the books.

The relationship between her and the denizens of Goodnight are quick to form, yet make this so much fun. Definitely going to read the next book asap. 4 stars ⭐️

I don't often read cozy mysteries, but the author is so funny on social media that I had to try one of her books. I wasn't disappointed. This humorous tale, full of wacky characters, was a quick easy read - just what I needed. Is it believable? Nah - but who cares. It's a fun and entertaining read and sometimes that's all I want. Ready for the next one in the series. I don't often read cozy mysteries, but the author is so funny on social media that I had to try one of her books. I wasn't disappointed. A silly mystery with jokes that fell flat. It seems like the author tried too hard for quirky, and her characters didn’t pull that off. The romance wasn’t believable, and the “almost sex scene” felt like it was copied out of a different type of book. I don’t like to quit, and I kept hoping for more, but it was a struggle to finish it.

Die Noon is probably declared a cozy mystery. But, it is so much more-it is a great mystery with lots of twists and turns plus a heap of humor, light romance, far out sci-fi, a touch of fantasy and heart-rending hope for a new start in life. In other words, darn near perfect! I highly recommend it and am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I purchased this ebook months ago and truly regret not reading it sooner. It’s my first book by Elise Sax but it won’t be the last.

I WOULD HAVE LIKED THIS BETTER IF IT HAD LESS ONE LINERS AND JOKES, AFTER A WHILE IT STARTED TOO REALLY ANNOY ME. I LOVE QUIRKY AND KOOKY CHARACTERS BUT THE JOKES BECAME TOO MUCH (of a good thing). THE MAIN CHARACTER'S INABILITY TO SLEEP REALLY BOTHERED ME AND I LOOKED IT UP. I FOUND THE RECORD NUMBER OF DAYS WITHOUT SLEEP IS A LITTLE OVER 11 DAYS (266hrs) SET IN 1964. INTERESTING. I CAN'T DECIDE BETWEEN AMOS OR BOONE HOPE MATILDA CAN, I'M SORTA LEANING TOWARD AMOS . . . While the story has some unique characters and a good bit of humor. This book is NOT a cozy and shouldn't be marketed as one. Yes, there is a decent mystery in it. But, once you start graphically describing his "excitement", and give a graphic description of the widower man and perpetually divorcing woman who's constantly in heat basically having sex with their clothes on. NOt to mention the gratuitous profanity. That has no business being described as a "Cozy" It's pretty much a straight chick lit. While the story has some unique characters and a good bit of humor. Matilda Dare, an insomniac, inherits a house, a newspaper and 2 dogs in Midnight New Mexico. She knew about the house but not the newspaper so when she arrives , it’s staff demands she not close it and she becomes a reporter. When one of her reporters is murdered and another injured in an attempted murder she has to find out who did it. The ending was a bit of a surprise but made sense. With humorous writing, interesting characters and a twisty plot, an enjoyable read.

I thought I’d never want to leave Gladie and Cannes, but I’m moving to Goodnight now! Matilda has her hands full with her new life. Amos & Boone are more than happy to help. Elise Sax has done it again. She’s created a new town, new quirky characters, with all new laughs and fun. I can’t get enough!

Then just to make things even spicier there is also a handsome mysterious stranger. As funny and silly and quirky as Matchmaker series this will be another must read for all Elise Sax's fans and everyone else who enjoys atypical one of the kind cozy mystery. We are all going to fall in love in the new set of characters and root for Matilda to finally find her man. Intelligent mystery, dash of romance and lots and lots of small town humor make this book impossible to put down. My opinion was given voluntarily after reading an ARC copy.

Die Noon is the first installment of the Goodnight Mystery Series. Our heroine is Matilda Dare. Matilda has inherited a newspaper in the small town of Goodnight, New Mexico. Other events that Matilda and the newspaper will be reporting on are a gathering of UFO enthusiasts that believe an intergalactic war is about to take place in Goodnight. If that isn't enough to handle a second murder takes place and a prized chicken nugget that resembles Abraham Lincoln has been stolen from a local museum. This is a fun book to read, lots of laugh out loud happenings and some eccentric characters that help round out the story. Die Noon is the first of four books in the series; I am looking forward to reading the next three books.

Not your usual cozy mystery. This one has a possible love triangle, aliens, an intergalactic war and giraffes. Matilda comes from the Matchmaker Mystery Series, her husband is a killer and people think she's crazy. Typical small town rumor mill where nothing is accurate but the gossip sticks like flies to honey. Two men are interested in the newcomer, Boone and Amos, and honestly I'm not sure I'd be able to choose if forced. Fluffy but fun read. Similar style to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. It's an easy light- hearted read, completely corny but still entertaining. Ms. Sax comes up with great plots and fun, zany characters. I just wish she wasn't so invested in describing unbelievably hot men and her main character, Matilda's, reaction to them. The book will be rolling along and then come to a halt for several pages of nonsense that adds nothing to the plot. Matilda is a bright, delightful woman who periodically turns into a total idiot because of a couple of men. A fun quick read. I love murder-mayhem-laugh books where seemingly normal people get into crazy situations in crazy little towns with crazy people lol Add two geriatric dogs, a giraffe and a murder and you get a fun entertaining read.

Funny who dunnit What a fun book. A great story about a newcomer to a dying town that turns the whole place upside down. Every day something new happens, murder, almost murder, a bad corporation in town. Oh, also a love story and a town so small they are taking bets on who ends up with the new girl. The author brings the characters to life and you want them to be your friends, so glad this is book one as I definitely want to read more!!

Annoying MC I found the MC excessively annoying and only finished the book because of guilt about low reviews from a partial. With better MC and less repetitive jokes (they got old fast), the mystery still would have been borderline. It feels a bit like the clues aren't all there and it got pulled out of a hat. One big deal item is left hanging in a hook style. So overall it really didn't work for me. This was a comical story of a young woman who inherits an newspaper in a small town. Combine the newcomer with the antics of the town's inhabitants, gossip, crazy events in the town and a murder and you have a somewhat lighthearted murder mystery with a bit of romance thrown in. It was a fun, fast moving story but not really all that believable. It does leave you wanting to know more about the characters who live in Goodnight, NM, and wanting to pick up book #2 in this series, maybe. Perfect! Elise Sax is hands down one of the most talented authors I have ever had the privilege of reading. Everything she writes is pure gold. It’s always hilarious, entertaining with zany crazy stuff that just might be real and she writes these stories in such a way, it captivates you. Matilda is just as goofy and funny as Gladie was and I am loving everything things about it!
