For a quick read, I really enjoyed all of these stories! The length of each story was perfect and the suspense and fear were built up within the stories even in such a short space of time. For short stories, they were really well written and had everything packed in that you could need for them to make sense, something I find can lack in a short story.  I will admit, I did guess the endings to 3 out of 5 stories, which stems from the actual plotlines not being overly original, but that didn't stop For a quick read, I really enjoyed all of these stories! A young coupe are swayed by a palm reader who predicts big things for the non-believer and downfall for the believer causing a switch of loyalty and life balance. The characterisation is set up well due tot the structure of this story. It follows a simple but effective chronological set of events predicted by the palm reader that invites a Macbeth style downfall the reader can see coming. It’s a metaphor for greed Reunion 5/5 A nice pulling Madam Orobas 4/5 A good opener for this creepy collection. It follows a simple but effective chronological set of events predicted by the palm reader that invites a Macbeth style downfall the reader can see coming. It’s a metaphor for greed Reunion 5/5 A nice pulling of crime strings by C.D Wilsher with this one. As a reunion is organised by an old friend of the protagonist they find out it is not for the reason they thought it was. Someone holds a grudge from their past and it soon becomes an inescapable situation. The crime element mixed with revenge is well crafted for this one. The characterisation flows well because of the back story for each character here. Top stuff! Predators 4/5 This snapshot is also well written and paints a typical picture of a gang of youths hassling a woman on a train. When the protagonist steps in it appears that he is the hero, however, the final lines of this short story turns it clever on it’s head. Short, sharp, and effective. Trust no-one. Axel 2/5 Beginning as a heart-warming tale of a man and his newly acquainted dog, it leads a reader into the narrative thinking what they could overcome. But when the MC has a simple accident, the simple relationship between them turns gruesome. This story I felt had a wealth of possibilities that weren’t explored, and remained too simple despite the nicely setup scenario. Therefore it becomes the weakest story in this collection for me, but not without it’s merits. The Matador 5/5 An intriguing crime story of an out of date hitman. An early mention of information sets up the final twist well in this one. The characterisation is actually superb and Wilsher shows just how good a simple story can be. The suspense lies in the fact that you’re waiting for something to wrong for the MC. This is my favourite tale in the book for these reasons. Overall this is an enjoyable short collection which introduces the writers style and flair when it comes to suspense and dark tales. I#d like a longer collection for sure! I’d certainly recommend.

The 5 different stories are uneven in the sense that I thought a couple were good and a couple weren't, but there isn't anything original as a story line in any of the five. However, they are all short and concise with no wasted words. I got through this super quick and as a lover of horror stories, I would tell other horror fans this is worth reading, but do not expect unique plot lines. Very enjoyable Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I love short stories and have memory retention difficulties. These tales allowed me to read a story without any issues in one sitting. Although I could think ahead to how the story would end I really still loved the twist at the end. Well done!!!

Engaging stories 5 quick tales which reach their conclusion almost as speedily as they begin.I knew that the book was only about a couple of hours long so was not disappointed. All five were a pleasure to read.they have a message to the reader: Your past misdeeds will always catch up with you in the end.

A great collection of short horror I chose five stars with this read, because each story deserves it's own stars. As a writer of short stories, it's hard to find stories that keep me more entertained than writing, a trait each and every one of these stories possessed. Something between horror & suspense, but really good! Great collection of stories, all with a gruesome or clever twist at the end. The writing is fast-paced and each slice of life is captivating.

It is horrifying that vulgar language seems to be the norm these days in writing, and this collection of an handful of short stories is right there. I abandoned this.

Awesome Loved the stories, made me think of some old-time radio episodes. Didn't need the word definitions myself, but good to have for readers working on their reading skills.
