And lost.Matt Radogain is just an average guy in what’s left of America, but when his wizard twin falls out of a parallel universe he’s given a unique gift: magic. He uses his new powers to enter the Dragon Royale and battle with 99 other teams for the right to face the dragon and save humanity.Jo Pak is another survivor in the world ruined by war. Her life revolves around the video game version of Dragon Royale, and she joins Drake’s squad to taste the real thing. However, on a battlefield filled with swords and rifles, her skill seems wildly out of place. She can talk with her cat.Matt and Jo head into the life-and-death struggle with barely a plan. He fears he is destined to be a scrub in a game full of professionals, but once his growing magic tangles with her kitty cat they both appreciate his huge potential. Victory suddenly seems possible. But the dragon has its claws in Matt, too.And it writes all the rules.Disclaimer: If the concept of engaging in sexual encounters to strengthen your pool of magic frightens you, this book is not the one you're looking for. You might also want to avoid this tome if you fear: polyamorous co-eds, a hero who thinks about sex once every seven minutes, strong female warriors who are both sleazy and demure, and an interdimensional dragon that makes our hero jump through sexual hoops like a cat plays with its dinner. Recommended for readers 18 and over.

It's ok Loved this till about 70% thru book as then it went to hell. No way do I want to read a series that just screws over the MC so totally by a OP villain.I hope the author actually reads this and takes it well but if you want people to continue to read series don't absolutely screw the MC over the entire book to the point it looks like they have no chance. The main character didn’t even feel like a real person! Sorry I only got about halfway through the book and then I started skimming. I didn’t find this book very attractive at all. Since I didn’t finish the book you can take this review with a grain of salt. I can’t quite put my finger on what’s wrong with this story but it just doesn’t mesh well. It started off well but did not give any time to learn anything about the characters. I can’t quite put my finger on what’s wrong with this story but it just doesn’t mesh well. It started off well but did not give any time to learn anything about the characters. It just kept swinging from one scene to the next with no stop in between. At about a little more than halfway through the book I totally lost interest in it, the story just became flat. I could easily see what was coming and I skimmed ahead and sure enough, finally I just gave up on this book. I have too many other books that I would like to read so I don’t want to waste my time on something that I have to force myself to get to the end of.

Good, Too-Fast, Fun A nice game lit story that works at being different and succeeds. The story and characters are good, and the world mechanics are fascinating. The lead villain is also fun and different. The story pace is a bit rushed though. It’s like a runner ran up to me and told me a great story through periodic gasps for air and pauses. That can happen with book #1 though, and there’s enough plot twists that I’m definitely on board for book two. Good stuff.

Dragons, Magic, Witches, Ogres, and Harems? I enjoyed STL as the royale location, it's one of my favorite cities! Really good book, but the main character is a bit dense. I would have used my magic in different ways than him in the book giving myself better advantages. I haven't figured out where Mr. Powers is going with this as a series quite yet. Really odd and bad This book was so odd and difficult to follow because of the poor descriptions and pacing issues. It never became clear to me how the magic or rules of the world worked. The characters were so stale and lacking personality. The main character had the most development, as little as it was, and every character beyond that was flat, and not believable.

Booring Boring and predictable. Basically skimmed through this book. Very shallow characters with absolutely no development. Couldn't care less about any more. Booring Boring and predictable.
