I grew up baking in my mom's cherry-colored kitchen, my little sister and I carefully following the instructions on a set of worn paper cards from my grandmother's recipe box. My family raised us on the banks of the Mississippi River, and the tradition of sweets ran about as deep in us as that river is long. So when I dreamed of my sure-to-be colorful future, it was frequently filled with the vision of running my own Rainbow Cake Café. For me the most important part of living my life to its fullest potential was finding a way to share my glitter-covered, creative impulses with the world. --- Cinderly is a start-up run on sparkles. Pros: The colorful pictures are fun to look at. Recipes don't look too hard. I could see myself actually making a couple of these (most of my novelty cookbooks are really just for looking good in my cookbook shelf). Cons: The hints are almost impossible to read - between the color of the font and the color of the background, even zooming in doesn't help much. Not enough unicorns. Pros: The colorful pictures are fun to look at. Recipes don't look too hard. I could see myself actually making a couple of these (most of my novelty cookbooks are really just for looking good in my cookbook shelf). I won this book from a goodreads giveaway. The recipes look easy and tasty. Despite the title, the recipes are not all unicorn themed. There’s a good mix that both boys and girls would enjoy. The pictures are great. My daughters were super excited going through all the recipes with me.
