I adore the idea and the strength it took to first get these poems on paper and then published. The poems in the book are in need of a more experienced editor ho could've guided the author to use the language more maturely. The simplicity of the language often times make the poems seem naïve and emotionally disconnected from her. I have seen and read poetry books with similarly sized vocabulary as Silence this year, and I strongly feel that Petyn not being fully intone with her emotions forbids I adore the idea and the strength it took to first get these poems on paper and then published. The simplicity of the language often times make the poems seem naïve and emotionally disconnected from her. I have seen and read poetry books with similarly sized vocabulary as Silence this year, and I strongly feel that Petyn not being fully intone with her emotions forbids the reader get as much from the book as she hoped they would. In many of the poems, Petyn prefers to tell us what happened instead of showing us, which feels like a defense mechanism, diluting the pain the reader is supposed to feel with her. As a reader I am left to wish for that breakthrough where the author finally let's her guard and invites the reader to feel what she felt in those moments she describes in her poems. I enjoyed the empowerment she showed us through the pictures, but perhaps if she had opted for self-portraits instead of all these other models, the reader wouldn't feel as disconnected from Petyn. I was expecting more of a: this is me, this is what I went through, this is how I feel ,and now I recover. All the models in the book just seemed to be a distraction for her to hide behind with her feelings. I am still very curious of what she will be writing next, and hopeful that she then will be ready to open up more.

I can't really rate poetry since there are a multitude of poetries with different views and aspect of what each stanza and words are. This was one that made me understand that emotions and feelings of despair and loneliness is okay to have even when you are surrounded by people you admire and enjoy. (I think this sounds a bit dark) I like this poetry book, not a lot, but enough to have a few tabs. I'm not a great fan of poetry myself, but I really enjoyed this one. I found myself in some of the poems in ways I wasn't expecting to. Also the photography is so beautiful.. And I'm positively surprised this is a self-published book bc it looks very professional. 4'5/5 I'm not a great fan of poetry myself, but I really enjoyed this one. I LOVED it. Just thinking about the thoughts and feelings but also struggles the author had to go through while working on sharing her story this way makes me really happy and astonished. Just thinking about the courage she must have publishing something so personal gives me the feels. I would encourage anyone who struggles, has struggled or is just a great person to read it. You are not alone and everything will be okay.

I always want to support the people i love and believe in but my rating isnt biased at all. Cammy poured all of her emotions into this poetry book it is so raw and powerful and i am so proud of her. Im trying to get into reading more poetry and non-fiction novels and if you are too, i really do recommend this book, it should be up there with milk and honey!

When I first saw Cami on youtube I honestly thought she was one of the prettiest and funniest person I’ve ever seen. With this book and many months later I discover that not only that, but she is also an stupendous writer and a very strong person. I really love and recommend this precious book.
