I was expecting something actually written by pirates but it’s just a bunch of stuff by the editor and his friends. The artwork is in surprisingly low quality (it looks like badly photocopied images from a school textbook) and, while two of the poems are slightly moving, most are worn out clichés written in irregular meter. Easily the most disappointing book I’ve read this year.

I could just hear the swarthy pirates telling their stories in this great collection of poetry! Made me want to watch a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Highly recommended if you're the pirate-loving sort, and who isn't, after Captain Jack Sparrow? Poem after poem, you'll feel like you're on deck in the salt air, unsteady from the rolling waves, and eagerly (or anxiously?) gazing up at the black flag snapping above you in a stormy Caribbean sky.
