My favorite program growing up was PBS's Mister Rogers Neighborhood, so naturally I snapped this up to delve into some warm and cozy nostalgia. This is a children's board book and is very colorful and inviting. The poetry seems to be not a proper poem at all, but the lyrics to the song that launches the program, "Won't You be my Neighbor". One of the most inviting scenes on the actual show is the aerial view of The Neighborhood, and that is featured here. Many of the characters on the show are depicted such as X the Owl, Daniel Tiger, Officer Clemmons, delivery man Mr. McFeely and Chef Brockett in his bakery. I was really touched to see a boy in an electronic wheelchair, obviously paying homage to an iconic moment on the show when a little boy named Jeffrey Erlanger talked about why he needed it. There are also scenes of Mr. Rogers riding the red trolley through town. This book is meant for the youngest readers. One good thing is that diversity is promoted in the book, as you can see many characters of different races (I noticed a girl in a hijab), as well as the handicapped boy. This is just a sweet, gentle, colorful book promoting love and harmony. Thank you to Quirk Books / Random House for providing an advance reader copy via Edelweiss.

I received an ARC from NetGalley from Quirk Books. This was a simple and colorful board book for the youngest readers. A simple poem of the favorite song. Fans of the more current Daniel Tiger on PBS will instantly recognize the words and be transported into the family favorite world of Mr. Rogers. Easy & fun.

Thank you to NetGalley for an electronic ARC. Because it's a board book, this volume is pretty much limited to a few pages, just enough for the words of the theme song. The colors are indeed very vibrant. Somehow I kept thinking the title character looked more like Tom Hanks than Mr. Rogers. Thank you to NetGalley for an electronic ARC. I enjoyed the illustrations and the novelty of the book. However, the content didn't display correctly on my Kindle so it was hard to get the full effect. I am interested in seeing what the final print product will look like. I enjoyed the illustrations and the novelty of the book. Board Book I received an electronic copy from Quirk Books through NetGalley. Delightfully illustrated board book to read as a family. Mr. Roger's theme song forms the text so families can read or sing together. The brightly colored illustrations pull readers in to his neighborhood and make them feel welcome. Thanks to Quirk Books for the digital review copy. First off, I think we all need a little bit of Mr. Rogers in 2020. We are all having a pretty rough go of it. Some more than others, for sure, but this delightful man’s legacy might provide our kids (and ourselves) a tiny breath of fresh air in the pandemic. You know the song. I know the song. There are tons of Easter Eggs for those of us who grew up with the show, and it’s super inclusive for everyone. It might be a little fast for a first or second pass, but at some point, I feel like the book should be read while the theme song is playing on whatever media device you use. I sang the song in my head as I went along and had a lot of fun spotting old friends and familiar objects from the show. Fred Rogers was just a good, kindhearted man who wanted to include children in the world narrative and dialog, and I think his legacy can help us today. We’re living in a scary world right now, and it’s important to include children in those conversations so that they process their own emtions, many of which they probably don’t understand, and build the mentally healthy foundation for growing into adulthood and dealing with the world. This one is out in August, but in the meantime, I’m sure you can find some reruns on the internet.

This is an absolute must have for all ages. This board book features the lyrics of Mister Roger's series' theme song complimented by colorful artwork. It could read as poetry or sung as a bedtime lullaby. The pictures are glorious and brings the "love your neighbor" vibe and hope for peaceful diversity into current culture! I can't wait to see and collect more from this series, and I think my grandchildren will love the bedtimes stories to come! The iconic, “Will You Be My Neighbor?” song by Mr. Fred Rodgers himself is accompanied by colorful illustrations that depict a lively and friendly neighborhood filled with diverse characters. Targeting preschool audiences, this work is a positive perspective that emphasizes being kind to all people. Parents and educators won’t be able to help themselves as they sing the words to their beloved childhood anthem. I recommend this jovial book to parents and educators of preschool students. Review copy provided by NetGalley I grew up on Mr. Rogers, so I was an easy sell on the book based on the theme song, and this book is absolutely everything that I'd hoped it would be. I probably won't be buying it for my school library since its a board book, but I'll gladly buy a copy to read to my son at home. It features all the classic characters in the bright, warm illustrations, and it really hits the mark. This book was just the cutest!! Thanks again to NetGalley and Quirk Books for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for feedback. This children’s book was adorable, including beautiful illustrations that added so much elegance to the classic song we grew up singing with Mister Rogers 💕 Any age will enjoy this book and will find themselves singing along, instead of reading it. Worth the buy to add to your ever-growing book collection!

Won't You Be My Neighbor by the late Fred Rogers introduces young readers to the lyrics to the opening song on Mr. Rogers's Neighborhood. Mr. Rogers is a childhood staple for the past few decades and this gives adults the opportunity to share the beloved Mr. Rogers during story time. Who doesn't love the message of being a good neighbor and spreading some kindness to the people that you meet. A very sweet, simple picture book set to Mr. Rogers' theme song. Optimistic and cheery. There isn't much of a story, just images of people being kind and considerate to each other, but that is pretty love in itself. I would definitely recommend it as an easy read to kids, and you can discuss community roles as you go. A very sweet, simple picture book set to Mr. Rogers' theme song. Optimistic and cheery. I loved watching Mr. Rogers as a kid. It was the highlight of my day when I could flip it on a live in a better world. The catchy and upbeat lyrics to the opening credits of the show are given so much justice with the vivid and beautiful illustrations in this board book. We get to revisit old friends if the show and, as an adult, revisit our childhood with the wonderfulness that is Mr. Rogers

One of Owen’s first and persistent favorites. It’s the Mr. Roger’s theme song, but that’s basically the national anthem for a girl from Pittsburgh. Glad to share this piece of my childhood with my son. ❤️
