There is no socialism in the USA as of 2021-Jan-07. There has not been socialism in the USA since FDR rescued America and made America great; there will never be socialism in the USA, as no socialist has political power let alone enough to be noticed in politics. Reading the book, the writer appears to be a fascist who sees conservatives (such as most Democrats) as "liberals" and/or "socialists." USA politics have not heard from liberals for over 60 years: they are utterly silent and powerless--- yet the writer appears to believe liberals are all-powerful and all-knowing. It is amazing how much the writer has praised liberals. As Albert Einstein pointed out, for humanity and the biosphere to survive the human population must be socialist: he noted that socialism is the only way for humanity to grow past its current predatory phase. There has never been a socialist country, nor will there ever be a socialist country. The countries with the most social safety nets consistently rank far above the USA when it comes to freedom (USA #7), quality of life (USA #15), and standard of living (USA #13). It was and it is socialist programs that have made other countries superior to the USA. By the way, Jesus was not a socialist (Jesus was a communist), but Christians still hate and detest and fear everything positive Jesus taught. I understand that the writer's occult-befuddled superstitions wish for Christians to believe they are persecuted in the USA (they are not: they are the persecutors), but that is not a legitimate excuse to write an entire book of lies--- the writer's father is Satan because Satan is the father of lies. For the fascists: calm down. Take a deep breath. The people you call "socialists" are conservatives. The socialists are not out there forcing America to one day be great again, and that is a damn shame.

Well, contrary to the books title we do sleep- although I personally haven’t slept terribly well in a long time. On one of those sleepless nights I took a look at Chumley’s book (the #1 bestselling book in Amazon’s Christian Fundamentalism category by the way) and I was particularly astounded by what I read: “Socialism is not the same as big government.” ‘My God,’ I thought, ‘have right wingers finally learned some nuance?’ “But big government and socialism are linked.” ‘Nope.’ “Big government ca Well, contrary to the books title we do sleep- although I personally haven’t slept terribly well in a long time. And America’s actually been tip, tip, tipping that way for some time now.” Trying to sell socialist papers in my college years, telling peers that the U.S. ought to leave Cuba alone, and that Hugo Chavez was not some kind of megalomaniac dictator beg to differ. Oh! But don’t you know: children being “taught in public schools that America is not exceptional,” “victim hood mentalities and entitlement natures,” “the wings of secularism,” all lead to “cultural socialism,” “political socialism,” “government of socialism,” run by “card-carrying [Tail Gunner Joe! Is that you?!] socialists.” Holy Jesus, I might need some more help from that Christian Fundamentalist section on Amazon... One of the many ways I spend my time is telling people that what they think is “socialism” is not at all socialism. “Socialism is force!” No, Cheryl...no it is not. Engels stated that under socialism the state would become the regulation of things and would no longer be concerned with the regulation of people. The path to socialism is a peaceful one, but I would be dishonest if I didn’t acknowledge that a revolution to get there would likely not be peaceful. But, if I’m being honest Cheryl certainly isn’t. Let’s go back to “Socialism is force.” I imagine her clutching her pearls when writing that or at the very least feeling particularly proud of herself. That feeling of elation probably led to this slipping out: “It’s collectivism that must be stomped and killed and eradicated.” Isn’t...isn’t that “force”? Freedom so good you gotta enforce it! But, Cheryl of course has God on her side. Secularism is another “socialism” she’s fighting against. The trick with Cheryl, as with just about any other right winger, is to simply read “socialism” as being anything she doesn’t like. Cheryl might well call broccoli “socialism,” or canker sores for all that. There’s no impending socialism here in the United States (man, I wish there were!), Cheryl just doesn’t like the idea of taxes is all.

What the actual ****? This may or may not be a rhetorical question, but HOW was Jesus NOT a socialist?? Ignoring the cop-out excuse that socialism didn't exist when Jesus was allegedly around because no ****, sherlock but that is not the point though! the point is the message of socialism being supported by Jesus' teachings over y'know Capitalism which is based quite literally on GREED - a freakin' cardinal SIN. Remember the story about the bread and the fish and multiplying it so everyone could eat? That doesn't embrace socialism how? Lemme guess. Because it's better(?) - safer(?)- to allow potentially biased charities (that may or may not be as charitable as they say they are) help those in need? You are kidding me, right? “No one can serve two masters,” Jesus says in Matthew 6:24. “Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” In Luke 12:15, Jesus says, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.’” And then there's my personal favourite Jesus-y lesson! The Golden Rule - Treat others the way you would want to be treated - basically an emphasis on kindness and not thinking you are more important than anyone else for any reason - because you aren't. Maybe society would deem otherwise, but we aren't talking about society's standards here. (to note: i think a better wording for the rule would be to treat others like they would like to be treated - within reason, i'm mostly referring to maybe treating others like you would want to be treated but taking their own wants and needs (and personal ideologies) into account as well, y'know? It's kind of tyrannical to expect others to be exactly like you are...) Jesus wasn't thrilled with tax collectors - why? because taxes are evil? NO. Because tax collectors then would take the taxes that Rome wanted (which actually was used for a lot of stuff beneficial to everyone including the tax payers ) as well as they would ask for extra on the top, and often not just a little, for themselves, because they had the power to do so. They exploited their vocation for their own, undeserved profit. Again, it's greed that came into play. And also the tax system was archaic then - shouldn't be surprising as this was like 2000-ish years ago - and poorer folks were disadvantaged. He supported people giving up all their earthly goods and dedicating themselves to helping others (read: others = not themselves, not their ideologies, other PEOPLE, human beings - and mostly meant to be others who genuinely need help. No BS judgmental af excuses about how they shouldn't get help because they are single parent with too many kids or that they are lazy rather than in need. Remember: It isn't up to us humans to judges others. I mean - barring outside of legal matters. For the most part, it not our place to judge others all willy nilly. That's God job no? Are you a God? No? That's what I thought. So why judge people so frequently, so harshly, and often so cruelly.). It was socialist ideologies that led to the women's suffrage movement, civil rights (of many kinds), child labor laws (aka outlawing abuse of children related to labor), consumer protection laws (anyone who says they are for caveat emptor are either shady businessmen or liars. sorry not sorry), and even more progressive income tax laws (which makes it so poor people are disadvantaged. Basically it made income tax less like the days of Jesus where taxes had a bad reputation for good reason - one being that the poor was disadvantaged... so a Christian really wouldn't be more for income tax laws that benefit the rich over the poor, would they???) Also one last thing "Socialists Don’t Sleep tells how America has gone from a country of rights coming from God, not government, to a country that embraces socialism" Is the author braindead? Have they never read the Bill of Rights? Have they never heard of separation of Church and State? America NEVER belonged to God - I don't give a **** what some dumb "pledge of allegiance" says (I'm actually against the pledge of the allegiance because it's something most developed countries don't do - it's blind loyalty and not a very democratic practice - as in democracy - which America supposedly is - not in a favoring the democrat party's ideology sense. just saying to prevent misunderstanding). Basically America belongs to the people. not the church, not God (and especially not any one religious group's version of God/a higher being). People first came to America because they were being persecuted from being one kind of religion versus another - and at the time it was Christians versus Christians. Christians were some of the early enemies during America's development , creation, and infancy. To blindly say America was developed to support Christian ideology is ignorant despite it being composed of mostly Christians - all Christians aren't the same. There are Christians who focus more on helping the poor, being kind to one another, and so on versus spreading toxic notions related to greed, hate, and/or hypocrisy (to name of a few of the issues so-called Christians seem to focus on so much). which is why I will end with even a lot of Christians - the non-fake kind - would think this book is a load of hooey. Secularism embraces humanitarianism, egalitarianism, human rights, etc, etc... But somehow that is anti-Christian? Because "d*** Commies" essentially? (to note Communism and Socialism have key differences thank you very much). Give me a break. I'd say this book is a joke but there's nothing funny about it. It's really sad that Christians are spreading this kind of rhetoric. I'd go as far to say it's even delusional. To think Jesus would approve of such notions? Really? I've left my faith behind long ago. And people like the Author are exactly why I can't see myself being Christian ever again. I despise greed. I fight for human rights. I help people. I care more about others than myself (which is honestly sometimes bad as it has affected my mental health in negative ways as I can't handle all the stress that comes with caring so much about the pain that literal strangers are going through. Having intense empathy is harder than it appears on paper. It can be agony. But I don't regret having empathy.) If Christians would focus more on the good, positive, humanitarian stories in the Bible, then maybe they'd get a lot less push-back by the "dirty terrible secular left" and we could have an America than everyone can enjoy - safely, happily, and most importantly - kindly! But no - we get books like this. I wish this were the only one. But nah. Books like these are a dime a dozen. aka there's a lot of them. It's disappointing, really... .... But it is what it is, I guess. Doesn't mean I nor anyone else shouldn't call these books out as the BS they are though... The author - and/or people like her- are gonna use freedom of speech as an excuse to print harmful rhetoric, then they can't expect others not to use their freedom of speech to counter it!

Can America survive the criminal deep state centered in DC, California, Michigan, Wisconsin & Pennsylvania? For most, the book will be a frightening eye opener and for others a socialism/communism/Marxism refresher. I enjoyed the refresher, confirmation of my observations and suggested solutions.

Chumley I agree with the premise of the author. Socialism will destroy America and its spread is relentless as the Democrat Party is more and more ruled by elected socialists with socialist principles guiding their efforts. They use Saul Alinsky’s playbook to accomplish their goals. They resent our Capitalist society. This book will not gain wide attention because all opposition to the left-wing Democrat Party is being shut down systematically, after an election in which rules were randomly changed to benefit the left, perhaps illegally in some cases, resulting in the left’s gaining complete power in what may have been an election riddled with fraud. Until the public wakes up and demands the return of freedom of speech for all, not just for the left wing, until they demand the rule of law, until they demand the truth about the election, until they demand that riots not be encouraged by the left, all of the oppositional voices will continue to be bullied and silenced, and America will no longer be great or independent. Actually, our national security will be threatened and the country’s very foundation will be weakened as our Constitution is mocked and ignored, as rules are randomly disobeyed, as enemy countries are favored over our allies, as people turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the truth. Their silence makes them complicit and guilty of an abuse of power, as some seem to get away with the very crimes that they accuse others of committing. I am fairly certain that my thoughts will not be published on Amazon because it is contrary to their position. Opinions that do not agree with the left are canceled and not published. Their algorithms will pick up any negative word about the current administration, as well, and rule the comments unfit for publishing on their forum. This, too, is an abuse of power and a danger for our democracy. All comments that are in opposition to the left are ridiculed and silenced. This book highlights and supports those who put the needs of others above their own, who value honor and respect more than personal success, who love and respect their country and have principles that supersede the greed of the left, who have faith in something higher than themselves. The left wants to take from those who work hard and give it to those who do not. The left prefers globalism to the greatness of an independent America and twists its message to appeal to emotion, rather than intellect. It prefers to have other countries rise to the top, as it transforms our country to one that is dependent on others. The left wants those who are successful to feel guilty for their success and to feel shame because others have not achieved what they have. The author, however, prefers an America of citizens who give charity freely and support limited government. The author prefers independent citizens who rely on themselves for their sustenance, not a nanny state. The author prefers a “great” America, that helps others but helps itself first. A strong country is more effective than a weak one. The author prefers a country that is self-sustaining and strong. The problem with socialism is that “you run out of other people’s money”. Everyone becomes poor. I believe in the statement in the book that says, “Freedom absent morality brings tyranny”, we are witnessing that now. The democrats show little respect for moral values or for truth. I differ with the premise in the book about religion, though. I don’t believe the answer lies with G-d, but rather with the free will of “man” to exercise his right to make “his” own decisions. The overwhelming religious emphasis of the book resulted in my skimming much of it. Still, the book is very well researched and documented, proving that there has been a constant subtle, creeping influence of socialism that has taken over our country over many decades. The book cries out to be read by all. Today, our country is in the throes of upheaval with little that can be done to stop the chaos or the antagonism that is pervasive because of a very arrogant and inequitable Democrat Party. Until a “few good men” admit the danger of muzzling one segment of society and then lobby to restore freedom of speech to all, and demand an honest fourth estate, and an open social media platform, socialism and the decline of America is inevitable. The success of President Trump will be negated and we will travel backwards in time, making our country less independent, far weaker and less safe. We can only hope that decent citizens wake up before it is too late. They will reap what they sow, and they may have empty fields if they do not stop the madness. The party that falsely accused the last administration of abusing its power, is abusing its power now. They are relentlessly harassing the former President and his followers with false accusations that cannot be disproven because the press will not cover the truth and social media has shut down almost all conservative speech. They have unethically politicized a terrible pandemic to accomplish their left-wing goals at the expense of the country and its citizens. They have unfairly trampled on religious beliefs. They have chosen to believe in science only when it suits their left wing platform and they have conducted an unfair election. Does this sound like the America the world has revered? NO! But this is the state of our current country and we can only pray, as the author suggests, that America awakens before it is too late. is too late.

Note, I skimmed a lot of this book, so I didn't add read dates so it won't be included in my reading total/goals for 2021. Thanks to NetGalley and Humanix books for the digital review copy of this one. This book starts out explaining that “it’s nearly impossible to reach consensus on what’s socialist, what’s not-what’s democratic socialism versus social democracy versus social justice versus progressivism versus communism versus all the rest,” because the left has used socialism to their own ends. Note, I skimmed a lot of this book, so I didn't add read dates so it won't be included in my reading total/goals for 2021. This book starts out explaining that “it’s nearly impossible to reach consensus on what’s socialist, what’s not-what’s democratic socialism versus social democracy versus social justice versus progressivism versus communism versus all the rest,” because the left has used socialism to their own ends. The biggest thing I have learned in the last few years (besides that we need to abolish the two party-system and that I truly loath politics) is that conservatives get so caught up on terminology that the argument ends before it starts. I hate politics. With a fiery passion. I just want people who need things to get them. This book has already proved that point, and those of us who want healthcare for the sick, food for the hungry, and for everyone to stop killing black folks and leave queer people alone have got to come up with a term that has never before been used in politics, so that others don’t immediately argue that we are Stalinists. I tried to read this with an open mind, a brief attempt at gaining an understanding of what the other side is so afraid of with the end of the Trump presidency and why they are terrified of Biden. This book argues in the prologue that collectivism, the seed of socialism, is the real issue that must be fought. We get a quick history lesson on the Revolutionary War that shows us our country is great because we are free, principled, and good. It paints a picture of a benevolent people who give and help their neighbors enough so that we shouldn’t need government assistance, and balks at the attack on freedoms the COVID mandatory lockdowns imposed. It takes a hard look at politicians like Bernie Sanders and Democrats in general. It’s well-researched and provides facts and figures for its arguments. Though I guarantee you the other side could provide facts and figures for exactly the opposite argument. I will give it to the author for calling out Republicans at least once, in relation to skewing the country toward socialism. That’s not something I expected, and unlike my last political foray into nonfiction (see post from earlier), this one is legitimately a decent read if you want to gain insight into the other side. I don’t agree with like a good 85-90% of it, but that wasn’t my goal in reading this book. I wanted understanding, and I think, at least to a point, I got it. Do I still hate politics? Of course. Do I still blame republicans and democrats for this mess? Absolutely. Do I wanna abolish the two party system? Hell yes. Overall, this author is well-spoken, makes her point pretty well, and uses arguments that she truly believes. I don’t agree with any of them, but I do think that it’s overall a better book than at least one other on this subject I have read lately. I’m tired of politics. I’m tired of only tow sides, and we really need to abolish the two-party system. Life isn’t black and white, and every issue can’t be argued as conservative or liberal, republican or democrat, can we just like, I dunno make the world better for ourselves and our neighbors without there being billionaires? Probably not. This one’s out now if you’re interested, but with all politics, I recommend a stiff drink first.

The author reveals how socialists in both American political parties have been chipping away at our American freedoms for decades. She’s a certified private investigator and an award-winning conservative journalist with a reputation for tracking down government corruption. If you’re looking for evidence of socialism’s increasing intrusion into every area of American life, this exposé is the resource you need.

A good reminder of the level of ignorance and stupidity in this country. But I read some where, or some one told me, or maybe I dreamt it - the commies and socialists created the Covid in a shed in CA and spread it by sneezing on dimes then putting the coins in cigarette machines as change so they get distributed across the rust belt by smokers and long distance truck drivers. It’s true! Maybe I saw it on FB. But it’s definitely true!

The content was very interesting and gives you a lot to think about. Today’s Democrats are definitely Socialists and are taking over America and completely changing it for the worse. Having morals is seen as being out of touch and discriminatory. I would recommend, however, the author’s writing style was hard to get used to and grammar rules went out the door (my reason for 4 stars instead of 5).
