Wow! Just wow! So far this is my favorite Tessa Bailey romcom! The chemistry of Piper and Brendan can put entire La La Land or thousands of harbors into fire! They were so good together! So far this is my favorite Tessa Bailey romcom! The chemistry of Piper and Brendan can put entire La La Land or thousands of harbors into fire! They were so good together! Their sizzling romance, steamy , pant melting love making hook you up! You cannot put this feel good romance down! It warms your heart and captures your soul! Even though the characters are polar opposites, they perfectly complete each other. Piper was Hollywood “it” girl, young Posh spice girl meets Clueless’ Cher and Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods: she loves to get attention, followed by millions, a true social media goddess and sparkling influencer. As Kei$ha says the party don’t start till she walks in! But her romantic life fails a little bit: she never has a relationship lasts longer than three weeks. Her last boyfriend dumbs her before things are getting boring for them, telling her she’s an airhead without any life purpose and there’s nothing special about her! She’s just one of the thousands!!!( Yes, he’s a total A.hole, I wish Pipes could see that before) Piper takes those words so hard. Being dumbed at a party in front of the crowds and public humiliation on social media trigger her to make a foolish mistake. She trespasses the Mondrian hotel to give an after party at the roof top pool, inviting thousands of people. It was like an early 4th of July celebration! Then she finds herself at jail with full bladder, raccoon eye makeup and lots of humiliation. Her best and only friend/ sister Hannah gets her out of jail. She thinks she could get away with this scandal but her rich stepfather Daniel who is highly achieved Hollywood producer thinks otherwise. The Mondrian Hotel’s owner finances his next movie so the stunt Piper pulled affects the future of his upcoming project. To teach her a lesson he has a perfect plan: Piper will be exiled to a small Pacific Northwestern town: Westport . That’s the place sisters’ fisherman father lived and died at the sea when they were little girls. Their mother couldn’t handle her grief so well so she cut her ties with the place. Now as a punishment Piper will spend three months at this town, taking over the bar she inherited from her father and live in a dilapidated apartment. Thankfully her music prodigy, more private, mature, two years younger sister Hannah has no intention to leave her alone at this journey! As soon as they arrive the town they feel like they move into a strange territory. Piper walks into the bar in her trendy clothes, cheerful, vivid attitude, she feels like she’s been transported to a different planet. Sexy, charming, widowed captain Brendan acts judgmental around her, thinking he’s dealing with a spoiled brat who will run after spending one night at that dilapidated apartment comes with rats as roommates. But guess what? Piper stays and she slowly gets under his skin. He cannot stop thinking about her. After 7 years passed from his wife’s pass away maybe he can deserve a second chance. And Piper feels like first time she belongs to somewhere. Can she leave her shiny, glamorous, partying LA life behind to be with this irresistible captain! Could they find their happy ending in each other’s arms? I already told too much. I feel like I’m your chatty neighbor who speaks without breathing when she loves something passionately. But I truly loved this book soooo much! I cannot wait to read Hannah and Fox’s story, too. I adored both of them as supporting characters! Overall: perfect chemistry, so smart, so humorous, so entertaining, so heartfelt! Giving my ship ahoy, millions of likes, five blazing poshy stars! Special thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for sharing this fantastic reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

The synopsis itself draws your name to the page and wanting to add this beauty to your TBR one hundred percent. And just the fact that it's a Tessa Bailey book speaks highly of itself. At least for me. I know what to expect, a grumpy sexy, handsome and possessive alpha that makes me drool and dream more and more of Henry Cavill every single day. And this fierce heroine of a character who knows exactly what she wants in life and so much more. When I first started meeting (reading) more of Piper, not going to lie, I was not the biggest fan. The way she was described as this preppy, and Hollywood a-list celebrity, having everything and being handed everything to the palm of her hand was not something that I found appealing to be honest. It's at a later line where she learns her true self, and finds that finding love and having a bond relationship with her sister is much more then having so many followers on social media. Brendan, a seven year widower that had a guilt on his back of not moving on, finds himself in a contracting state of attraction towards not only Piper's sparky attitude and charisma, but also her way of being with others. This random stranger, comes to his town and takes it by a storm that he never encountered, no matter how many he has when at sea, Piper becomes someone to be reckoned with. It's at first that Brendan knows that messing "around" with someone like Piper was not a healthy move; He'd ridiculed her at the outset. Now he wanted to fight off anything that made her sad..." Once they both started opening up their hearts and breaking down the that wall, they start to realize that the urge that surrounds them to want to be together is so pure yet strong that nothing can break it apart. Nothing can break apart their "charging station" whenever they touch each other, hug each other, are in the same presence. And their physical attraction no matter what, is always off the roof of wanting more and more every time; She writhed underneath him, trying to find the bottom of the pleasure well, but until his mouth landed on hers, anchoring her, she didn't realize... didn't realize the bottom of the well wasn't physical. She needed their emotional connection to calm herself down. Needed him, his hear, his Brendan-ness..." Gosh this book had me turning with wanting more. And more we shall hopefully get! Hannah, Piper's younger and musical lover sister, alongside Fox, Brendan's best friend and crew mate are expected to have a story of their own which I am truly excited about. They have this bond to them, this friendship, and this attraction in which Fox is trying to admit to himself that he does not have but truly does that makes me rip my hairs with wanting their book ASAP! Hopefully we can all get their book soon as well. ARC kindly provided by Avon Books, in exchange for an honest review... Follow Me On: Instagram ♕ Twitter

I loved the character development of Piper. I just really liked her and how she was unapologetically herself. We don’t get to see her change herself or her personality for someone, but instead we get to see her find her true self? And just grow? I just loved everything about Piper! Brendan was really sweet as well. I liked how he was working on making her fall in love with him even when she kept promising him nothing serious. Another thing is the sibling relationship between Piper and Hannah, it was definitely the highlight of the book. I loved how these two were always there for each other. The thing that kinda ruined this for me is how freaking dramatic the conflict was!!! I was reading then suddenly I was rolling my eyes so hard, like are you kidding me??? It was just beyond dramatic!! Overall this was a really cute summer story. I haven’t read many TB’s books, but I think this might be my favourite.

She along with her sister are being sent away from the money, mansions and galas to a remote town near sea, the town she had once called home before the death of her dad. A fitting punishment in the eyes of her stepfather. Piper needs to be taught a lesson any 28 year old woman should have known long prior: aspirations and responsibility. Now she -an impulsive party girl- is stranded with a huge, bearded fisherman obsessed with routine and constant brooding, in a town full of people so unlike her usual crowd. she got a choice: Quit and prove all the assholes they were right about her worthlessness or..... finally find something deeper than the shallow, surface level life she has been living. What does that mean? It means we're about to have one wholesome ass romance. I heard many readers ask whether this is a slow burn and I'm here to tell you - NO. The book starts as enemies but quickly turns into friendship. The hero goes from just being a mean grump to an adorable grump. If you guys like pining heroes then this one hits the spot. Brendan managed to remain a simp throughout this ENTIRE book, and for the first half of it, he hides his attraction behind a grumpy exterior which Piper is semi oblivious to. When Brendan was being conscious about his humble living (which turned out to be not so humble after all) and thought Piper was out of his league, IT WAS PULLING AT EVERY STRING OF MY FROZEN HEART. The heroine took longer to admit her feelings. For a time she thought only of platonic friendship while Brendan was scaring men away and stalking her (or attempting to) on socials. But it can't exactly be called insta-love either. They did fall for each other pretty fast (the hero fell first btw tehe). I couldn't make up my mind on whether it was moving too quickly for my tastes or the cute ass moments between them were worth the pace. WHAT ABSOLUTELY RUINED THIS BOOK FOR ME THOUGH was the sheer ridiculousness and laughable convenience of the third act conflict. My lord that shit was more dramatic than Diver's heart (view spoiler)[- They fight - Branden storms out like a sulky child - Piper promises she will come and see him off for his fishing trip the next day. Which is her way of proving that she wants to stay with him instead of going back to LA - Convenience #1 happens: For no reason whatsoever Piper has been walking some random old man for weeks now. Some of you may tell me it's because she is a good person, but I know now it's so he can get a fucking head injury right before Piper has to meet Branden. - She misses his departure and stares at the retreating dot of his boat😔 *tears, sobbing, end of life crisis, oh no* I mean it's not like he's coming back in 2 days or anything - She has her bar opening and no one shows up. Not even Branden, her grandma or the stepfather. *self doubt, basically the end of the world at this point, she "loses her sparkle" lmao* - So in her defeat and despair, she packs up her shit and goes to a party in LA🤡 - Convenience #2: Branden doesn't show up to her bar opening because as he was coming back from his trip there was some delay. Ikr? The magic of accidental head injuries and unexplainable delays. Poor guy misses Piper's hurried departure to LA. *THE REAL DRAMATICS BEGIN* Sorry jeez. Idk what's wrong with me.....got so emotional there for a sec😢 (hide spoiler)] Long story short, after non stop tears, misery, pain, loss, anguish, torment, torture and every other depressing thought you can think of, they were finally reunited and all was right in the world. EXCEPT ME!!!

It's Schitt's Creek meets Legally Blonde meets Clueless. Oh, I just loved it so much. And look, I'm not oblivious to this books flaws. Like, it's definitely predictable and full of cliches, but I'm not a NYT book reviewer, I'm a stay-at-home-mom who wants to get lost in a romance exactly like this one and escape for a little while. Sometimes you just have to leave your fine tooth comb at the door and enjoy a book for what it is, and this book is fun and romantic and comforting and I'm here for it. Best paired with The Best by Tina Turner...and no, not because of Schitt's Creek 😘 This song is so fitting for his book. (the lyrics and the vibe) Pack a bag and enjoy the trip to Westport. You won't be disappointed. Now, excuse me while I go mark the release of Hook, Line, and Sinker on my calendar, so I can cross off the days until I have Hannah and Fox's book in my hands.

Now while i am wholly obsessed and will rave about this book forever, I will say i found that ending to be a littttle bit lackluster. And by “ending,” i mean the club scene. That part was okay for me and i feel like it felt a little anticlimactic. But everything else (again, minus how i felt with the beginning)? Immaculate. Go read it. I kind of expect that from Tessa Bailey at this point so it didn't bother me as much here as it has in her previous books, but I did just want to mention that as it happens pretty much every other page lol. Couldn't help it! I'm in love and his name is Brendan Taggart. This book had everything; humor, steam, a slow burn, a small town setting, a quirky socialite, and a grumpy bear...err...fisherman. It won’t let me just use my own name as my username.” “Yeah, probably because about nine hundred Brendan Taggarts joined before you.” “So what should I use?” “CaptainCutie69,” Fox spat out. “IGotCrabs4U,” Deke supplied. “SlipperyWhenWet.” Brendan stared. “You’re all fired. Go home.” This story reminded me a little of It Had to Be You but in a totally unique way. Maybe it was just the feels that it brought out, but man, I just died. Piper is a type of heroine that could easily be seen as a fluff, unless Tessa writes her. She's a spoiled socialite who has never known hard work or trouble beyond no good parties around on the weekend. So when her stepfather finally has enough of her antics and inability to take anything serious, her and her sister find themselves in a small town running their late fathers dive bar in the middle of a fishing town. Suffice it to say they're ill equipped for the task, but in the most hilarious of ways. Piper followed, looking down at him from the top of the stairs. “Are we friends, Brendan?” “No,” he called back, without missing a beat. Her mouth hung open, a laugh huffing out of her as she closed the door. Hannah sat up and asked, “What the hell is going on there?” Slowly, she shook her head. “I have no freaking idea.” No one has ran the bar for years since the passing of their father. And the town just kind of took it as their own. So when Brendan meets who he assumes is an air headed socialite, suffice it to say they get off on the right foot. Add into the fact that no one knew of the long lost daughters and they do anything but fit in with the locals and well, it's a catastrophe waiting to happen. But god was it good! The slow burn of this romance was EVERYTHING. And I really mean everything. I loved watching Piper grow into her own and I loved watching Brendan fall for her. She was such a sweet, quirky, and endearing character. And the grumpy and broody fisherman captain? I LIVED FOR HIM. Going to fuck the word ‘friend’ right out of your beautiful mouth. You’ll forget how to say anything but my name. Real quick, honey.” I loved this book beyond words and beyond reason. It was funny, swoony, and with a sizzle of Tessa's signature dirty talk and I was so here for it. If there's one book you add to your TBR this summer, make it this one. The perfect beach read is here and I can't recommend it enough. Now if Tessa can just write Hannah and Fox's book faster because the level of need that I have for that one is UNREASONABLE. I get that she is rich, instagram famous, and never had to lift a finger in her life, but that was a bit too much. I had the same feelings about Brendan. Liked him at first, though I don't understand exactly why he fell for Piper, except that she is gorgeous. We are reminded of that a lot, even by Piper herself. Or maybe he likes being a hero to a damsel in distress. But I liked him less once he opened his mouth during sex scenes. The audiobook is excellent and I think I've listened this far into the story because of the narrator. She is really great. It's just that at this point I no longer care about the characters, I can predict how the story will end and I lost interest. (hide spoiler)]

4 stars Tessa Bailey gave us a fun, steamy, and sweet summer romance with It Happened One Summer. I've never seen Schitt's Creek (this is inspired by it) but I love a good rom-com. Her stepdad is sick of bailing her out and decides she needs to learn some responsibility. He sends her to Westport, the town where her late father is from. Luckily, Piper has an amazing sister that tags along to help. Piper and Hannah both learn a lot in Westport but some completely unexpected things happen. Piper starts to fit in with the town and the people, and she starts to fall for the bearded surly fisherman, Brendan. Not only does Piper start to fall in love but she learns a lot about who she is and where she's from. I loved watching her change and grow. She had a fantastic relationship with her sister and I loved seeing them accomplish the things they put their mind to. Now to the highlight of the book.... Brendan. Brendan is my favorite hero Tessa Bailey has written. This man. He's so devoted, so swoony, and even though he and Piper seem like an unlikely pair, he is the perfect man for her. I love a good opposites attract story and this one was fantastic. It made me smile, laugh, swoon, and I even shed one or two tears. Overall, I enjoyed reading this one a lot and I'm looking forward to more in this series. Bring on Hannah and Fox's book!

4 Live in the Fallout Stars ⭐ The Socialite and the Burly Sea Captain. You already know that you're in for a treat with the squabbling, wrong assumptions and plenty of passion. It Happened One Summer had so many grin worthy moments! “You can wrap me as tight as you want around that little finger, but I won’t play games about what this is.” LA party girl, Piper Bellinger's latest antics have misfired spectacularly. This time she's gone too far and step daddy dearest has had enough. He sentences her to three months residence in a quaint seaside village with very little resources. A place that brings her back to her birth father's roots and humble beginnings. With her sister Hannah in tow, Piper unintentionally finds herself. Brendan Taggart is a simple man. A fisherman, a gentleman and a widower. Well established in his hometown of Westport, he is not one for change. With the arrival of the two Bellinger sisters, he didn’t think they’d last the night. Nor did he think one of them would catch his eye or his heart. Where he’s more fish & chips, Piper is fine dining. Yet once they get past their misconceptions, friendship and romance is inevitable. Every time their eyes met, a hot shiver roared down her spine, because there was a promise there, but also…patience. Maturity. Had she ever dated a real man before? Or had they all been boys? When Piper and Hannah resign themselves to giving Westport a real go, they choose to undertake the project of restoring their Father’s old dive bar. As Brendan assists with the relaunch, their friendship turns into more. Even if Piper is convinced there is an expiry. “Fuck me. You can be as high maintenance as you want, honey. But I’m the only one who does the maintenance.” He ran his thumb down the seam of her sex. “Understood?” Brendan instantly sees a future with Piper. He gets that she's skittish, however he won’t be kept at arm’s length. He sees her worth and realises it's worth the obstacles. And as Piper evolves past social media and photo opportunities, it dawns on her that family and falling in love with Brendan is validation enough. I'm gonna say 2 things about this book, which I loved, because I love everything Tessa Bailey writes. 1) I'm a big Tessa Bailey fan and it's been a pleasure to see her doing such good work to make her heroes more than grunting male alpha-holes. Don't get me wrong, I like that a lot and it pushes a lot of my buttons. But I think it's been a real area of growth for her as a writer. 2) Actual LOL at the way they put a cartoon cover on a book this absolutely filthy. I read an ARC of this book from th I'm gonna say 2 things about this book, which I loved, because I love everything Tessa Bailey writes. 1) I'm a big Tessa Bailey fan and it's been a pleasure to see her doing such good work to make her heroes more than grunting male alpha-holes. He sends her packing to the small fishing town in the pacific northwest where she was born. The same place her biological father was killed. She finds herself cut off financially until she can learn some responsibility. Good luck Piper!🤣 I enjoyed the beginning as Piper and her sister try to settle into the small town. Piper was actually very sweet and sincere under all her drama. When she meets the local fisherman Brendan, you know sparks are going to fly. But the couple seemed to come together too quickly, with little conflict. And as we all know, conflicts in Rom-Coms are what define the couple!😂 As for the steamy scenes, I do love my rom coms on the spicy side🌶🌶. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was just too much! Cringeworthy!🤦🏻‍♀️ Right now I’m on the fence if I’ll be continuing this latest series.🤷🏻‍♀️ A tip of the hat to Charlotte North, who once again did a fabulous job with the narration. And I’m really glad I did with this book, because IT HAPPENED ONE SUMMER was an audiobook I would recommend anytime. The reason why I picked up this book was without a doubt the comparison to Alexa from Schitt’s Creek. The novel and plot itself has nothing to do with Schitt’s Creek, but Piper does certainly have some similarities with Alexa – and I loved it!! Also, I’m a HUGE fan of Alaskan bush pilots, and apparently fishermen are also high on my list of book boyfriend material. I thought the idea of making the hero a grumpy but assertive fisherman and setting the book in a little town on the Northern West Coast was a great one and made Brendan very attractive in my eyes, even more than already described. Also the book had many great relationships, Piper and Hannah were adorable. Truly, sisters who are tight make for great foundations to build on. And absolutely love it that each sister gets her own love interest – best friends dating sisters – a plot that never gets old. When it comes to the main couple, Brendan and Piper were wonderful together. Loved their bander. Loved how much Brendan was interested in Piper and actively pursued her. And for Piper it was a wake up call after the ugly break up with her past. It was actually quite eye-opening to meet a man who loved everything about her, exactly the way she was. Although her character growth throughout the book was really well done. Overall, I had fun with this light hearted romance. The banter was great. The relationships between the characters were even better. And the romance although sexy, wasn’t overly steamy which I was happy about. The book was a successful read for me. I laughed and chuckled my way through it and I can’t wait to read Hannah’s book, which I’ll be listening to as well, since my request for the ARC got denied. Oh well. ___________________________________ I received a copy of this book from the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review.
