This is another great collection of interesting and innovative recipes from the folks at Dirty, Lazy Keto that will let your have your cake (and bread), and stay low carb! I will be interested in trying the famous chaffle, the keto waffle. The "Englsh Muffin" is delicious, and will become a staple with my breakfast. The stroganoff recipe looks delicious, and you will not miss the carb-laden pasta. This book will help you enjoy the low carb way of eating as you lose weight. Stephanie is one of my favorite keto authors and this cookbook is one of my favorite keto cookbooks. I love that her definition of "dirty, lazy" does not mean unhealthy. She uses lots of vegetables, avoids fake cheat keto foods like keto bread and ice cream, reminds us to still be mindful of portions and dairy, and sets a great example by keeping fit (she says she wrote the cookbook while using her treadmill standing desk, which sounds like torture to me but is definitely inspiring). She does tend to use more crushed pork rinds than I'd like but she also says you can use TVP instead. I'm not going to use that either but I admire her creativity. There are color photos for about half the recipes and a fair number are dairy free and/or vegetarian. Nutritional information is provided and an extensive section at the front explains what keto is what she means by dirty, lazy (basically, no keto police and just count carbs instead of obsessing about every macro). While I'm a little more clean keto than she is, I will happily use many of these recipes. I also love her fun personality, which comes through in the book with a perfect balance of encouraging, sincere, funny and real. I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

Even the tips are for the average person, common sense with some Keto experienced knowledge. I love that the table of contents up front not only has recipe sections but also the names of the recipes so you can just peek through and pick out something without flipping through the whole breakfast section. The pictures are beautiful and I find myself wanting to try lots of new recipes!!

The LASKA WAY is the WAY TO WIN THE WEIGHT LOSS. I own all of their books and recommend them on a weekly basis to many people who are looking for "diet books" and ways to lose weight and KETO IS THE WAY TO DO IT!!! The way to easily "keto it" are explained and these recipes are so freaking awesome ---- I mean, who wants a 500 ingredient recipe with 40000 steps? (Gordon Ramsay??!!) That said, these recipes are well written and understandable by cooks of all levels and the photos make the food very appealing to myself and other lovers of food out there. What I especially love about the book is that it uses MOSTLY whole ingredients instead of pre-prepared and packaged foods. I do draw the line at making my own cheese beyond a quickly-made mozzarella, and canning tomatoes but the more "ingredients" you use the better. My one nephew says that I never have any food in my house, only ingredients --- that is why I cook so much. I also refuse to eat or cook with Frankenfoods such as "chick'n" and its 88 ingredients vs. 🐔chicken🐔 having one and cheese that does not come from an animal is udder nonsense!) As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes / literally-like-overusers etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩

I'm easily intimidated when it comes to cooking, so when I saw this title and it's "5 Ingredient" tag line I was in. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Several recipes outside of the breakfast section called for essentially making waffles which seems unconventional, but not in a good way. A lot of these recipes definitely call for more than 5 ingredients but the authors seem to be desperate to stretch the definition of 5 in order to fit meet the 100 recipe tag line they also boast. On the flip side of stretching the limit, they legitimately included a recipe for broccoli that's just broccoli with salt and coconut oil-- they might as well have done this for every vegetable in order to meet their 100 recipe and 5 ingredient or less quota. This book isn't awful and I liked some of the fun combinations, but overall this missed the mark for me and I would not add it to my cookbook collection

I love keto even though I am terrible at sticking to it. However, The Dirty, Lazy, Keto 5-Ingredient Cookbook might just make me a keto fanatic again. Being gluten-free for years, it would seem to be easy to forgo a few more foods (goodbye, rice) and go full keto. After more than a year working from home, I definitely need to lose more than a few pounds. But, even though most gluten-free breads are horrible, I just can’t seem to let them go. I love that eating “dirty” by making 3 carb gram English Muffin Mates using this cookbook is okay for those who are (let’s face it) addicted to bread. The fact that the muffins are made using a mug in a microwave is a great example of the “lazy” part of this book’s diet plan. There are even a ground chicken, a zucchini, and a cauliflower pizza crust included for those pizza lovers out there. I love the simplicity of all the recipes. But innovations that I would never thought of trying are also included. Avocado as a thickener in the Stunt Double Chocolate Malt? It works perfectly without changing the chocolate lusciousness of the drink. Heating up cottage cheese in a microwave? It’s surprisingly delicious. Vodka in a berry adult popsicle? Yes, please. Speaking of alcohol, there are five adult beverages included in the last chapter. Hey, you should be able to celebrate your new keto lifestyle with a drink, right? The Dirty, Lazy, Keto 5-Ingredient Cookbook is highly recommended—even for those readers not committed to a full-time keto lifestyle. 5 stars! Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

The new 5 ingredient cookbook from Dirty, Lazy, Keto is easy to read, the Pantry Staples listed on each recipe make it a snap to make sure you have everything needed to create wonderful food. From the Crash Course Carnitas to the Party Pooper Prawns to the Rebellious Bloody Mary, each recipe is written beautifully with step-by-step instructions and wonderful tips and options. I have already picked out 10-15 recipes to try. Thank you for the wonderful ideas and recipes.👍

No more runs to the market for some strange item that you will never use again. Practical, delicious, and easy! DLK cookbooks are the only low-carb cookbooks I use. A Keto diet is complicated, right? There are weird menus and long shopping lists, right? Wrong! There’s nothing unusual here, just what the average cook has in her/his kitchen already. Staples are next: salt, pepper, olive oil, vegetable broth, etc. This list is important because Stephanie assumes you have these staples on hand and does not count them as some of the five ingredients that make up each recipe. She even includes a sample shopping list. Then come the recipes. 100 keto recipes organized into sections for breakfast, soups and salads, desserts and more. Easy to understand icons let you know whether the recipe is cooked in one pot, suitable for guests, for picky eaters, etc. It is hard to pick a favorite recipe from The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook but, to me, these are standouts. Stephanie and William Laska believe that “You don’t have to be a professional chef or a mathematician to lose weight with DIRTY LAZY KETO” and it shows in this cookbook. Gorgeous photographs, funny recipe titles and the thought of so many delicious meals ahead makes this a standout on your cookbook shelf. 5 stars. The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook: 100 Easy-Peasy Recipes is the newest cookbook and keto tutorial guide by Stephanie & William Laska. Released 8th June 2021 by Simon & Schuster on their Adams Media imprint, it's 224 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free. The introduction covers the basics of the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to, pantry lists and shopping tips, along with an inspiring author background bio. She emphasizes that it's not necessary to spend a ton of money and track every mouthful to be successful at weight loss and maintenance. I found her encouraging and you-can-do-it style of writing engaging and fun. There's a very folksy "vibe" which some readers might find a bit much (but I really liked). There's also a short, concise subchapter on food handling and safety, which was welcome. It should be noted that there is some overlap in the introductory and background sections of this book and the others in the series. The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, soups & salads, snacks, pizza, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts & drinks. The table of contents lists each recipe along with symbols giving a visual guide to different real-life situations (recipes for "hangry" moments, for picky eaters, lacto-ovo vegetarian-ish dishes, superstar keto dishes etc - quite humorous but also *true*). Ingredient measurements are supplied in American standard measurements only. There are a very few exceptions such as prepackaged sweeteners which come in 1 gram serving packets, but mostly no. There's a conversion chart for metric measures in the appendices. The prep times, net carbs, servings, and tips and options are listed in well laid out sidebars. The ingredients are listed in a bullet list followed by step by step directions. The author does recommend real-world timesavers like using premade Italian seasoning mixes (the recipes rely heavily on premade (often precooked) ingredients - this is *not* slow cooking from scratch). Allied recipes (included) are referenced in the recipes to save time by using leftovers from one recipe in another recipe. The recipes are drawn from a surprisingly broad number of world cuisines - Asian, southwestern, Tex-Mex, Cajun, European, etc. Most of the recipes have cute names (souper douper chicken soup, miso hungry soup, fickle pickles, and more). Inspiring real life quotes and thoughts are highlighted in yellow in the text, giving readers an extra little boost. Some readers might find the cheerleading over the top, but I found the author's voice encouraging and friendly. This really felt like a keto-friendly cookbook for me: I'm short on time/money, impatient with impossible-to-source "weird" ingredients, and cooking for myself and a family of non-keto eaters. I found it impressively easy to follow. Five stars. I really like (and use) this entire series of cookbooks. One codicil, there are relatively few pictures included in the book. About 25% of the recipes are pictured at a very rough count. The dishes and serving suggestions which are included are attractive and appropriate, however. Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

With Keto the cereal options weren’t there in the beginning, and the Just a Bowl of Cereal recipe takes care of the cereal craving when you just want a bowl of cereal, I love it with unsweetened coconut milk, soooo delicious!!!! The no-skill scramble is just a breakfast staple now and the nonketo eaters in the house, dad is 91, doesn’t know he is eating healthier, just that its delicious and so many variations using different veggies! I found Stephanie on NBC one day when she spoke about her journey to loose 140 lbs and keep it off then she showed how to make her protein pizza and I looked her up and keto and knew I could not do traditional Keto but could do it Stephanie’s way! So far 40 lbs down and many inches! I’m one of those that due to a stomach virus it hurt to eat for two weeks so I subsisted on average of six saltine crackers and part of a 20 oz sprite and didn’t loose any weight during that time. Still went to work and did everything but was so disappointed that I couldn’t even loose when I couldn’t eat. I have shared the recipes with my children and didn’t tell them they were keto, just a good recipe and they loved them! One thing I miss is Sushi but the Gold Star Sushi scratches that itch and no more cravings for Sushi! I was missing my hamburgers but with the Big Mama Chaffles Burgers, I miss nothing anymore! All the recipes are excellent and now have so many great recipes for the zucchini I have growing in the garden. I am trying to grow what I eat and eat just what I grow because I know my veggies are safe and healthy and really fresh! If you have picky eaters, this book will give you great recipes and all you have to do is make them but don’t tell whomever is joining you, if anyone is ( you can save all the deliciousness for yourself!) that it’s Keto and they will never know. One of my all time favorites though is the Orange Crush Chicken! Talk about a flavor explosion in your mouth to get you to your happy place then you will be talking about this! AWESOME! I have yet to try the adult beverage section as I have never been a vodka fan, that would be my daughter, but I must say they are intriguing and plan on trying them.

I can't even! (stay out of the kitchen since receiving this cookbook!) Seriously, I've had this book only 3 days and I've made 6 recipes! First, let me say that I own a plethora of cookbooks, some keto, and some not. I have FINALLY found a cookbook that is written in a real world, conversational, and humorous style, as if two friends were preparing a meal together. Also, I REALLY wish that I had found this book when I began my keto journey, when the keto lifestyle appeared so restrictive and exp I can't even! First, let me say that I own a plethora of cookbooks, some keto, and some not. I have FINALLY found a cookbook that is written in a real world, conversational, and humorous style, as if two friends were preparing a meal together. Also, I REALLY wish that I had found this book when I began my keto journey, when the keto lifestyle appeared so restrictive and expensive, and trudging through all of the (conflicting) information was so very stressful. Stephanie's no-nonsense approach to the ketogenic way of eating is refreshing! I absolutely love that each recipe includes the serving size and the NET carbs per serving, as well as grams of fat, and protein for macro tracking. When applicable, the author even includes 'recommended toppings' and other things after the recipe, including some brand names with their net carb counts!! So much of the work and headache of daily tracking is done for the reader! And who can't appreciate the cute recipe names like 'Bamboozling Bacon Brussel's Sprouts' and 'Dancing Drunken Chicken!' Thus far I have made the Punk Peanut Butter Chaffles (hello, I'm hooked!), Zoomer's Zucchini Salad (so refreshing!), Downpour Parmesan Dressing (I won't use store-bought again!), Jalapeño Wispy Chips (be still my beating heart!), Ridiculous Radish Chips (I'm a convert!) and the 'Orange Crush Chicken (the author crushed it with this one!). I am excited to try more! In addition to the recipes, the tidbits of advice for the individual recipes and cooking in general, measurement charts, recommended kitchen tools, shopping lists, and exercise tips, are so very useful. Not including pantry staples, the recipes are truly 5 ingredients or less! I just love the convenient icons used throughout the recipes, "No Cook," "I'm Hangry," "Less Mess," "Fancy Enough for Guests," and more. I highly recommend this cookbook, whether you follow the keto lifestyle or not! And most especially if you ARE new to the keto lifestyle! Thank you Stephanie Laska, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley for the free reader's copy.

I have made several recipes out of The Dirty Lazy Keto 5-ingredient Cookbook and they have all been tasty with easy to follow instructions and, most ingredients I already had on hand. I am excited to tell you my husband who does not eat the same as me absolutely raved about the Tree-Hugger pizza I made. He actually took pictures of it to share with his friends on facebook. I would’ve made him his own style crust but he decided to give mine a try. That was quite an accomplishment in itself. This is a well-written cookbook with many tips and alternative options to make delicious healthy low-carb recipes. I also really enjoy the desserts & drinks section. Every recipe has a total net carbs per serving and accurate prep and cook times listed. I highly recommend it. I’ve been pondering whether or not to try the Keto Diet, but because I’ve got other dietary restrictions, I wasn’t sure if it would be a good fit for me. Well after I changed some of the ingredients in some of the recipes, I found out that I could definitely benefit from Keto. At this point I’ve only tried some of the recipes, I haven’t fully switched to a Keto diet just yet. By far my favorite recipe is the No-Skill Scramble. I split the recipe in half and make it just for me, and it’s so good! At this point I’ve only tried some of the recipes, I haven’t fully switched to a Keto diet just yet. By far my favorite recipe is the No-Skill Scramble. I split the recipe in half and make it just for me, and it’s so good! Sometimes I make it for lunch or supper. Whenever I’m in the mood for this recipe. I can’t use Chorizo, so I substitute other sugar free sausages, or sugar free bacon, whatever I’m in the mood for. Another go to recipe is the Scrimpin’ Shrimp Salad. I use fresh shrimp from the seafood counter and cut it up into small pieces, but I leave everything else the same, I love the idea of serving it in half an avocado. I make the whole batch and I have half for lunch and half for supper. If you’re looking for an easy to follow book with a lot of yummy recipes that will either help get you started, or add to your Keto recipe repertoire, then I highly suggest you get the Dirty Lazy Keto 5 Ingredient Cookbook. **I received an ARC of this story from the Publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I am a massive fan of the KETO way of live, having lost nearly 2 stone whilst being on it. Once you get you head around the fact that things you believe aren't good for you like butter, cheese and oils can be in the right quantities. Not only did this help me loose weight but it also massively helped my gut health and stopped bloating. This is a great addition to the books already out there, and explains in details the groups of foods you should have together and in what ratio. Also as most of the recipes only use 5 ingredients or less this is great for people with busy lives who don't have time to sit and batch cook in advance and most of the stuff I already having in my cupboard. I love the how each one is broken down simply and your Net carbs and other nutritional information is there in black and white, makes things so much easier for people trying to keep track. There are some lovely recipes and so helpful that they have pictures next to them so you can see what you are making. I have already tried a few of them and I have to say the 'Simple Salami Skewers' have already become a favourite of mine and they are so easy to make. Recipes like these make keto a joy rather than a job. Thank you for NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

I received The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook as part of a NetGalley giveaway. The keto diet is one of the hot trends in dieting right now, and The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO 5-Ingredient Cookbook leans into simplicity, emphasizing few ingredients while still remaining to the tenets of the diet. There are several ingredients that will probably seem fairly obscure and/or expensive, however, if you're not following Keto, things like xanthan gum and acai powder. I'll say that, as the title suggests, the recipes are *very* simple, almost to the point of me wondering how much flavor a lot of these dishes have, but for people with less adventurous palates or limited resources, it may be just what you're looking for. The layout also looks a bit crowded--as I understand it, a lot of what's there is "code" for those who do follow the diet, but for an outsider it gives the impression of being cluttered. Still, there's a lot here for cooks looking for simplicity.
