A young woman wastes 15 years of her life, with a man she replaced God with. This was a good read and wake up call. Instead of a ring and flowers, guess what she got.

I would have given this a 3.5 - 3.8 if it was possible, but not enough to rate it a solid 4/5 stars (explanation below) While I understand it is a short story, I didn't feel attached to the character enough to empathize with her. I suppose that is also one of the reasons why I found the character so annoying in the first half of the story (30 pages or so). If I actually "saw" their love story unfold leading to this moment I may have even empathized with her but the character just felt so whinny I would have given this a 3.5 - 3.8 if it was possible, but not enough to rate it a solid 4/5 stars (explanation below) While I understand it is a short story, I didn't feel attached to the character enough to empathize with her. I suppose that is also one of the reasons why I found the character so annoying in the first half of the story (30 pages or so). If I actually "saw" their love story unfold leading to this moment I may have even empathized with her but the character just felt so whinny and self-centered—even more so when I found out/read that she saw her self as someone "every guy fought over" and seem to imply that he should be grateful she chose him (which I could see why the guy would leave her with that kind of attitude or mindset). Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt she's probably the prettiest girl in highschool and all men fought over her, but the story just felt so overexaggerated/dramatic and there is no "physical proof" of their so called loving relationship because the story starts off to the point leading to the breakup that I found it hard to take the character seriously. It would have been more believable if the author "showed" how everyone saw them as a power couple, how every guy fought over her, how sweet the guy was instead of "telling" us what they used to be. I would probably more understanding/forgiving of how 'overly dramatic' she sounded if I saw how very much in love they were in highschool. It would have been more believable if we saw how they fell in love or how he asked her to be his girlfriend. Another reason I gave this a 3 instead of 4 out of 5 stars is because of the fact that it lacks a trigger warning (implications and attempted suicide or mentioning of suicide/suicide note). I have no doubt that statistically, breakups lead to suicide, but for those who are easily triggered especially younger audiences who stumble across this book could trigger traumas and suicidal thoughts/ideation. I know that is has a positive ending or a hopeful end, but authors should have a content/trigger warning. The final reason why I gave this a 3/5 star is how it ended. We spent 30+ pages reading about the character whine that her boyfriend of 15 years wasn't proposing her, cursing God (whom from the beginning she forgot about and blame for all the bad things that happened to her life and only goes to him when she wants Him to save her relationship), how life is not worth living because the guy dumped her and she lost everything only for her to see a sign through the television and quickly change her mind? One sign is enough for you when 15 years wasn't enough to convince you that the guy wasn't going to commit to you? I would expect at least some form of resistance or doubt seeing as her personality throughout was overly dramatic and doubtful that her world was going up in flames... she could have at least asked for more signs, that she would need more convincing, heck maybe even go on that vacation and find a lovely man or find out that she genuinely is content with life without a man. I wanted to see more growth and while that short revelation in the end showed growth, it felt weak, rushed, and unconvincing. She spent five days moping not believing her boyfriend dumped her, would anyone believe she would have a change of heart that easily...or would anyone really have a change of heart or move on that quickly in real life? Now that I got my seemingly "negative points" out of the way, here are some reasons why I'd place it around a 3.5—3.8 star and not lower than a 3 out of 5 star rating: It was well written (other than some awkward sentences here and there). The author captures the emotional turmoil of someone whose world has been shaken up by a man she thought would be "The One". It teaches us a lesson: don't seek happiness outside of yourself (and Jesus) or don't give all of yourself to someone who could very well leave you in the end. And finally, it includes a beautifully written bonus devotional, encouraging bible verses, journal, and guided prayers.

It was the devotional for me Going through the book was interesting. But it was the devotional for me. Could vision the pain she went through and that's the pain many women suffer. The inability to let go of a dying relationship all because of the time spent in that relationship. Would definitely recommend it for someone who is facing a decision to let go or someone who needs to be reminded that it's ok being single and not succumb to the pressures surrounding relationships and singleness. I liked it Thank you for inspiring us single women to not give up. I never felt the way that the character felt about her husband. But I do believe in developing a self love for yourself is important. The prayers at the end caught me off guard and the journal because I did not know it was a self help book I thought it was a short fiction. I could have done with out that or a heads up. My reason is, I like to read a fiction, a self help and a memoir all at once. Reading the prayers 7 days kinda slowe I liked it Thank you for inspiring us single women to not give up. Wisdom!!! Great book with tons of wisdom!! I could relate to Claudia so much. Oh how we fool ourselves into thinking our unrealistic fantasies will become a reality, especially when the truth has been staring us in the face the entire time. But God doesn't work according to our imaginations. His plan for our lives is so much better than anything we could fathom. Trust Him in the process. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He's a good, loving Father who wants the best for His daughters. Wisdom!!! Great book with tons of wisdom!! I could relate to Claudia so much. Letting God The synopsis didn't reel me in; I loved the cover so much I had to check this out anyway. The author truly did her homework on this one; this was motivational and uplifting. Self love and self contentment are important - you shouldn't put anyone else in charge of your happiness. The repetition at the beginning of the book was bothersome; maybe it was the author's way of conveying Claudia's desperation. That was the only reason I rated 4 stars. I am the One I love the way the author has taken the time to share a story that so many male and female go through who lack self-esteem. I can't see spending 15 years of my life in an unmarried relationship, begging someone to take me back. Since each of us is uniquely designed she has included study questions and scriptures to help motivate. I believe this book can help the broken and those who can mend. A short story of a broken heart. I was expecting an inspirational romance story when this book was suggested to me. It was a good read, but not a romance. I really enjoyed the devotional at the end of the story.I got the book in digital form so I couldn't participate in the journaling, but I was still able to ponder and reflect on the questions. The story was very short and I hope to hear more about the character's story. A short story of a broken heart. I was expecting an inspirational romance story when this book was suggested to me. This story is an example of what we want may not be what God has intended for us. He moves at his own pace. It might not seem fair at first but, if we’ll follow the trajectory that He has laid out for us, we’ll see that everything happens for a good reason and at the right timing. That God makes no mistakes. Also, when you ask God for signs, you have to be prepared to accept them for what they truly are.

Beautifully Painful This short story is one that should be read whether your single or married. Centering ourselves around others lives can bring joy and destruction. Centering your life around God can only bring happiness. This book this lesson of this concept in a beautiful painful way.

When God is trying to tell you something and you choose to ignore Him! Claudia trusted her mate more than she trusted the voice that was telling her something was wrong. She fed herself excuses to combat the heartache and she'll need to learn to forgive herself and learn to live again. When God is trying to tell you something and you choose to ignore Him! Great Short Read and Devotional I really liked the story. As Sherylynne always does, I could identify with the main character. The quotes were very inspiring and the journal questions really made me dig deeper. A really good read. Looking forward to reading the next two books.

It’s not the book, it’s me. I was not the intended audience for this book. At least not right now I’m not. I don’t like books in 3rd person POV. At 16% we were still on about this proposal and I just couldn’t take it anymore.
