A gripping romantic suspense with strong, independent, caring characters and great pace. Dwight has a lot of military and Homeland Security experience and would anything to protect an innocent like Emmy. There is no safer place for Emmy, who is suffering from PTSD. Donna Grant is a master of creating fast-paced stories with loyal, protective men and strong, independent women, and love born out of danger. If you enjoy the forced proximity trope, you’re going to love the way Emmy and Dwight develop feelings for each other. They feel safe and comfortable in each other’s company, understand each other without words, have the same values- perhaps these extreme circumstances brought together two soulmates who would have never met otherwise. Add one of the most beautiful settings- Montana mountains around Thanksgiving-Christmas period of time and you have my heart melting. Well, there’s also a lot of heat in this perfect blend of romance and suspense, but, if you are a fan of Donna Grant’s, you probably expect some passionate scenes. A quick and enjoyable read for any reader who loves a good romantic suspense story. Can’t wait to read Donna’s next book! Home for a Cowboy Christmas was a fantastic read featuring a romance between a woman in witness protection and the man who protects her. Ever since she witnessed a murder, Emmy Garrett has been on the run and when it becomes clear her location is compromised, the U.S. Marshal in charge of her takes her to somewhere no one will look for her. Ever since she witnessed a murder, Emmy Garrett has been on the run and when it becomes clear her location is compromised, the U.S. Marshal in charge of her takes her to somewhere no one will look for her. Montana. Upon arriving on a ranch she is left under the protection of Dwight Reynolds, a former military man who used to work for the FBI and Homeland Security. Emmy and Dwight try to keep their distance from each other, but their tentative friendship turns into something more. And when the people looking for Emmy discover where she is, Dwight will risk everything to save her. Emmy worked as an accountant in Denver where she eventually acquired a client that was actually a front for the mob. After Emmy accidentally witnesses the man in charge kill someone, she turns over evidence to the District Attorney's office and is placed into witness protection. After an attempt on her life, the marshal watching her decides to hide her off the books which is how she ends up on the ranch. I admired Emmy's courage and how she wanted to do the right thing despite the danger. Emmy has a lot of trauma after what happened to her which she slowly starts to work through during her stay at the ranch. Dwight knew Emmy's handler back before he left the federal government and agrees to help out his old friend by hiding Emmy. I liked how Dwight didn't hesitate to help despite the potential for danger if whoever was after Emmy finds her. Dwight is an interesting character as his two sides, ex-military/fed and cowboy, actually blend together fairly well. His past is obvious in how he carries himself while his present day actions show him to be a man dedicated to running his family's ranch. Emmy and Dwight's relationship is initially slow going despite the obvious attraction on both sides. Emmy is clearly still dealing with the trauma of what happened to her which Dwight has experience with, so he doesn't push her. I liked the friendship the pair develop over the first few weeks Emmy is there and how at ease they become around each other. Eventually the pair give in to their attraction and I enjoyed the steamy scenes between them. Overall I enjoyed the romance and I liked how much time was dedicated to building it up. The suspense aspect of the story mostly comes into play near the end of the book after Emmy's location is discovered by one of the men looking for her. I enjoyed how that storyline played out, particularly Emmy's role in the ending. Overall Home for a Cowboy Christmas was a very enjoyable read and I highly recommend it for fans of the author's Heart of Texas series. **I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**

This is a Romantic Suspense. I have to say the characters in this book was so much fun following and getting to know. The romance in this book was very good. This was a sweet, slow building romance with a touch of suspense. Despite Emmy running for her life, the author focused more on her and Dwight's budding romance. The danger smoldered in the background before coming to the forefront. She is introduced to Dwight, ex-FBI who owns a ranch in Montana in hopes that he can keep her from harm. The plot and pace was good and I loved the slow build development of their romance. Their characters are likeable and they just seem to be made for one another. There is attraction, romance, suspense and an adequate amount of intimacy that I like in a romance novel. So excited for this Christmas story to be out in the world soon! Read on for an excerpt: If she had to hide, this was as good a place as any. She hadn’t been too keen on Dalton’s idea, but when backed against a wall, a person did everything they could to stay alive. “It’s just until after the first of the year,” Dalton said as if reading her thoughts. “They found me in three days this last time.” Dalton shifted in his seat and leaned his right elbow on the center console. “No one but me knows where So excited for this Christmas story to be out in the world soon! “No one but me knows where you’ll be.” No one should have known the times before, but they had. A chill raced down Emmy’s spine when she thought of the gun barrel that had been pointed at her head. The feel of the cool metal against her skin, her would-be murderer’s uneven breathing. Had Dalton not unexpectedly checked on her that night, she’d be dead. “I’m going to find the leak,” Dalton vowed in a voice rife with anger and unease. “I’m going to find them and put an end to things.” She swiveled her head to look at the marshal. “That may cost you your life.” “We’re the good guys, Emmy. Or at least we’re supposed to be. Whoever is leaking your information needs to be reminded of that. I’m no fool, though. I’ll be careful.” She quirked a brow. “How do you plan to do any of that if you aren’t returning to the office?” It was one of the reasons she had agreed to this trip. After Dalton shot and killed the assassin sent after her, he had pulled her after him out of the hotel to his company vehicle and sped away. To her shock, Dalton had pulled into a parking garage and parked the car. They had jumped out and rushed away from the SUV. He then led her through the streets of Denver, telling her when to keep her head down and when to put her back to a camera so they couldn’t be picked up. That took them to an old, beat-up truck with tinted windows. He reached into the back of the cab and pulled out a black duffle bag, tossing it onto her lap and ordering her to look through it. There were hats and wigs of all styles inside. Emmy made her choice. Surprisingly, it made her feel somewhat shielded. Dalton swapped his Stetson for a ball cap, pulling it low. Then they drove away, Denver in the rearview mirror. On the road, he laid out a reckless, wild plan to take her to Montana. First, they would travel east, then south, then west, and finally north to big sky country. Emmy had no idea if the plan was good or not. All she wanted was to stay alive. Dalton had saved her life. Maybe she was naïve to believe that she could trust him, but she knew she wouldn’t get very far on her own. So, she did everything he told her. Every few hundred miles, they stopped at places he had other vehicles waiting. Inside each were three burner phones still in their packages. Dalton would open one, dial a number and simply push a button. Emmy later learned that those calls were to individuals who would make sure their previous vehicle disappeared. She didn’t ask how. She didn’t care if it meant that she lived to see another day. She raised her brows, waiting for him to answer her question. Emmy knew if he returned to the marshals’ office in Denver, it would only be a matter of time until someone figured out what he had done with her. “Don’t worry about me. I’m not stupid.” He snorted and shook his head. “I know it doesn’t appear that way. I suppose I put too much trust in my fellow marshals, but now I’ll be looking into everyone with a fine-tooth comb.” “Just don’t get yourself killed. You’re the only one I trust.” ________________________________ © Donna Grant HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS PRE-ORDER NOW: Amazon | BAM | BN | Indiebound | Powells Kindle | Nook | Apple | Kobo | Google

Review on behalf of Verve Romance. If there is a Donna Grant cowboy romantic suspense to be had, I will be having it. More than once. She is one of my favorite authors for a very good reason: she writes edge-of-your-seat suspense that mixes just so with a blossoming love. In this one, Emmy finds herself in need of a safe place to hide from the men looking to silence her before a trial where she's set to testify, and that safe place is provided by Dwight, a trusted friend of her handler. The attraction hits hard and fast, but that doesn't mean all is well—the author takes great care to make sure that Emmy and Dwight get to know one and understand one another, and reading it felt both personal and exciting. There's a memorable scene or two with Dwight's sister, inescapable danger, some daredevil moves, and the goodest of good boys, Sam, and all that added to the HEA means an engaging romance that I would love to talk to someone, anyone about. The second of my bonus reads accompanied Home for a Cowboy Christmas (two book cowboys—my life has reached its pinnacle), and it was short but sweet and satisfying. A stranded city girl is rescued from a blizzard by a true-blue cowboy and their opposites attract from the get-go. A little forced proximity and only one bed make this one move quickly but it's Christmassy and feel good and a neat little extra after the action-packed main novel.

Testifying against a mob boss has put a woman’s life in danger and the only place she is safe is in the distant Montana mountains on a ranch with a former law-man. Donna Grant blends country charm with tension-wrought romantic suspense so well that I didn’t hesitate to grab up this latest set during the holidays. ARC received for review Emmy is a bookkeeper who witnesses a mob murder and is in witness protection, but the bad guys get to her. The marshal saves the day and whisks her away to his friend, Dwight. They fall in love, but Emmy is afraid that they mob will find her and end her HEA, so she says nothing. True love conquers all. There was a bonus novella (Wish Upon a Cowboy) with completely unrelated characters (Cady and Zane) that in only a week they find true love. Very sweet extra story.

It has a much faster pace and focused on a lot of other things other than Christmas. As a result, I didn’t feel like it was as festive as I would like. There are definitely other books that do a better job of conveying the cozy feeling. Nevertheless, Grant combines suspense and romance together quite nicely in this book. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if it was just a regular story than a Christmas one. But I did still find that this story was still enjoyable and romantic.

Home for a Cowboy Christmas by Donna Grant is a great book. The two main characters are hard not to fall in love with. Emmy is in witness protections outrunning the bad guys that want her dead before she can testify. Dwight is FBI, Homeland Security, and ex-alpha military all rolled into one super guy. Emmy is brought to Dwight's home as a safe house and for Dwight to protect. Donna Grant writes beautifully. In some of the scenes I felt like I was there at that moment she wrote with such detail. It's got suspense, romance, and of course all the holiday spirit you could ask for. Dwight and Emmy fell quickly, but it felt organic, not over the top or forced, and the suspense helped keep the story moving along. Not that I'd wish to be on the run from mobsters, but all the other aspects of this holiday story make me wish Christmas were here already! 🎄 ARC provided by St. Martin's Press for an honest review. Home for a Cowboy Christmas definitely got me in the holiday mood early this year! This romance that is also filled with plenty of suspense was another great one from Donna Grant. Emmy Garrett is in a difficult spot. She's the star witness for an upcoming trial and she's not on the run for her life. The US Marshal she's working with has decided to take her to a friend of his who owns a ranch in Montana. It's not a place people would look, so he feels she'll be safe there. When he gets the call from his former college friend and colleague, he's all in to help Dalton and the woman who needs to be kept safe. As Emmy deals with the trauma she's been through due to her circumstances, she and Dwight begin to grow closer. It gets to the point where it is too difficult for either one of them to deny what is growing between them. Will they be able to keep her alive in order to testify or will the bad guys win in the end? I really enjoyed how this story unfolded. The romance felt organic to me and the suspense that was part of the storyline was well done and didn't feel forced. This was a book I read very quickly as I just had to know how it was going to end! I recommend picking this one up! **I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

Great heartwarming Christmas romantic suspense with spice. Insta-love, for me it was the right amount of spice. I enjoyed the story. Deciding to give her testimony against her mob boss client Emmy isn't safe with just anyone anymore. Enter Dwight. Military, FBI, Homeland Security Dwight is the perfect man to protect Emmy. He's also the perfect man for her in general. Two lonely people finally find each other if only Emmy can survive until the New Year. Great heartwarming Christmas romantic suspense with spice. I love these cowboy stories. These men take care of their women, the women are strong, don't get me wrong, but protection is a huge thing. When Dwight has an old friend show up on his doorstep with a passenger Dwight will do whatever is necessary to keep his promise and protect her. What he doesn't know is who she is running from. Read this amazing story of courage, persevering, and honor. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I love these cowboy stories. He had the ability to keep Emmy safe while Dalton tried to find the leak in his department. Emmy was scared and convinced of certain death. She suffered from PTSD and didn't feel safe anywhere anymore. Dwight and his dog, Sam, helped her to begin to heal and feel protected. They began to have feelings for one another but was it worth pursuing or would it all end in disaster when Emmy had to return to Denver to testify in the trial against Joe Roma. Or would she even be able to survive long enough to testify. This story was very engaging and kept my heart pumping. There was some foul language and a few descriptive sex scenes, which I don't particularly enjoy but the story was good and well written. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

    WTF Are You Reading?

A beautiful, brave, and determined witness. The U.S. Marshall sworn to keep her safe, and the ex-FBI agent who will risk it all for love. Donna Grant's latest, Home For A Cowboy Christmas, ushers in the season with chills and thrills that have much more to do with romance and suspense than white Christmases and sleigh rides. Donna Grant's latest, Home For A Cowboy Christmas, ushers in the season with chills and thrills that have much more to do with romance and suspense than white Christmases and sleigh rides. Emmy Garret never thought that her job as a bookkeeper would make her the target of a mob boss. But when having the worst case of "wrong place wrong time" makes her witness to a crime that has the potential to put said mobster behind bars. That is exactly where she finds herself. Making matters worse for her. The fact that not even the Witness Protection Program has the power to keep her safe. As is made quite clear when an attempt on her life sends her and the U.S. Marshall charged with her protection. Out of the bounds of protocol and procedure. And on to a ranch in Montana. Dwight Reynolds' career with the FBI may be a thing of the past. But his call to protect and serve is present and well accounted for. Especially when it comes to keeping Emmy alive. With the date of the mobster's trial looming. And a hit man closing in. Home For A Cowboy Christmas is a very emotionally intense read. Due in large part to the fact that the cast of characters is kept relatively small. Which allows one to zero in on, and sympathize with whomever. In much the same way that one would a close friend. While the overall premise of the book does prove formulaic in its execution. There are distinct nuances within the relationship between Dwight and Emmy. (Such as his understanding and sympathy for her struggle with PTSD. As well as her need to provide them both with an enjoyable Christmas; in spite of her rather dire future prospects. ) That gives validity and authenticity to their bond. And a ring truth to their circumstance. Although the main reason for the "be still my heart factor of this story has to go to Sam. Dwight's Australian Cattle Dog. Who never seems to leave Emmy's side from their first meeting. And manages to save the day too many times to count for everyone by book's end. As if one story isn't good enough. This book contains the short story, Wish Upon A Cowboy. That's right... The literary gift that keeps on giving. *Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for providing the review copy on which this unbiased critique is based.

However, the people searching for Emmy show up. Will Dwight’s military skills be enough to protect Emmy? Can he convince her to stay in Montana once the danger passes? Emmy Garrett works for a large bookkeeping firm in Denver, Colorado. She is testifying against the city’s greatest mob bosses. When her location is compromised again, Emmy finds herself in Montana. Dwight and his dog, Sam, make her feel safe for the first time. However, Emmy cannot help but worry about endangering them with her problem. Can Emmy manage to survive until the trial? Or will she become another casualty? Dwight is a man who feels the need to protect those around him. It is an ingrained trait. I admire Dwight’s honorable behavior. He refuses to take advantage of Emmy during a difficult time. Dwight knows she is not in a good mental or emotional place to welcome a relationship. What I adore the most about Dwight is his willingness to help Emmy deal with her PTSD. Since he is a recipient of the same problem, Dwight knows the signs and symptoms, so he knows the best ways to overcome it. Emmy is such a courageous woman. She has been through such a harrowing experience that many people would have buckled beneath. I admire Emmy’s integrity. It took incredible bravado to testify against a mob boss. Emmy knew that it would endanger her life, but she could not let a criminal go unpunished. What I like about Emmy is how her traumatic experience allowed her to discover things about herself. She let many opportunities pass because of her fear and uncertainty. HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS is a standalone, holiday-themed novel from Donna Grant. I am not really a fan of holiday stories; however, I do make exceptions for certain authors. I like how the story encompasses both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving is a holiday not commonly found in books. However, the two holidays are not the main focus of the plot. HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS is a wholesome and warm-hearted tale with the right amount of suspense. Dwight and Emmy’s romance is more of a slow-burn than instant attraction, which made it easy to enjoy.

I've been on a bit of a reading slump lately with a lot of mediocre books, but this book was just what I needed to pick things back up! I'll admit, I stayed up until 3 a.m. to finish the final 6 chapters when things started really getting suspenseful, so that qualifies as a great book in my mind! Emmy is in witness protection, but the mob boss she was set to testify against found her and almost had her killed. Luckily, her handler arrived just in time to save her life. Unfortunately, it means they have to go on the run and find a safe place for Emmy. She lands on Dwight's doorstep since her handler is friends with Dwight. Dwight isn't just any ordinary rancher though. He's ex-military, former FBI and Homeland Security. So he's got what it takes to protect someone, although being up against the mob won't be as easy as he hopes. This was almost one of those 'love at first sight' books. I mean they don't come right out and say it, but it's obvious the attraction is at nuclear levels early on. And the 'I love you' comes from Dwight in the middle of the book. It's odd to read a book where the Hero is the one professing his love long before the heroine does. I found that refreshing, although a bit premature. But they did spend their days in close quarters, so I suppose it's not completely unrealistic to fall in love that quickly with a stranger. As Emmy noted though, he was her soulmate, so it was destined to be. Like I said, I stayed up way too late to finish this book, but it's just because the suspense had me on the edge of my seat, er, bed. I did think it all wrapped up a little too neatly in the end. I would have liked to see more of a 'showdown' or some more action when the inevitable happens. Instead, it ends as quickly as it began almost, so the buildup was a bit of a letdown. The epilogue isn't that far into the future, just a few weeks, so I feel like we really didn't get to see Emmy & Dwight as a normal couple in public. I wish the author had given us that since this doesn't appear to be a series where we'd see them a year down the road in the next book. Overall, a great romantic suspense that will keep you engaged, invested, and swooning over just how adorable the H/h were.

This is a sweet holiday read with just a litte spice and a dash of intrigue. Emmy and Dwight are a great pair and it was a pleasure to get to know them and see their interactions. There is a short story at the end, so as I was reading I could tell that we were approaching a key point in the story, but my kindle was telling me I was at 60% of the book. It was a bit confusion until I reached the end oand discovered the short story. It was a bit disappointing as I wanted more of Emmy and Dwight!
