Deliciously hot with some added suspense. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leigh has become a go to author for me. I get lost in her stories every time! This one is no different. Her characters are always so well matched. She does not shy away from the heat and passion that develops and builds the relationship. Her stories are in-depth and interesting! I just devour her books! So why wouldn’t she be a go-to? This story is a romantic suspense and that is one of my favorite genres to read. This is a Romance Suspense, and this is the third book in the Moving Violations series. I have say this book was very disappointing for me. Levi is every reason to read this book. I have found that this author always provides the type of dominant, take charge heroes that I love, and she never makes them feel the same. You don't get the same man with a different name. You clearly can see the difference in the men but they are all very much a man. For the most part, I also enjoy the heroines in her books but I will say Lilly was not an easy character to like. She's been through a trauma that has made her very guarded and defensive. It's understandable but also hard to enjoy. For me, that didn't matter all that much since I'm all about the hero. Overall, I have really enjoyed this series. It's not your typical cowboy trope. They all have some military/law enforcement background and they know how to protect the women they fall for. The suspense is well written and not predictable.

3.5 stars, but I'm rounding it up because well.......Lora Leigh. Her alphas and her smut are always on point and right up my alley! This book is about an undercover US Marshall and a school teacher who after going through something horrific helped put the bastard away, all while under "Jane Doe", so that she could keep it private. At this point only 2 people in her life know she went through it and she wants it to stay that way. Lily went from feisty, fun, loving, wild to a very feisty, closed o 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding it up because well.......Lora Leigh. Her alphas and her smut are always on point and right up my alley! At this point only 2 people in her life know she went through it and she wants it to stay that way. Lily went from feisty, fun, loving, wild to a very feisty, closed off, untrusting. And I didn't blame her one bit, at least in the beginning. Even though we know from the blurb, I personally forgot that Levi was undercover in the beginning of the book. The way it is written and the way the storyline fell, I totally spaced it. But he is there to keep her safe. But the moment he sees her, he realized that keeping this "just business" might be a lot harder than he would have ever imagined. The first 1/4 of this book was a solid 5 stars for me. But sadly, I was in kinda a bitchy mood when I went to finish this book yesterday. (because well life is fucking life lately and kids/husbands can be frustrating as fuck). So that might have flowed into my feelings of this book so please takeall of this with a grain of salt. This book got a little ridiculous for me and while it was still written so well, I still loved Levi and liked Lily. I started to fucking want to throttle Lily more and more as I turned the page. Why you ask? Well as you know from the blurb the guy she put behind bars has escaped from prison, they want to put her in witness protection, but she declines. Fine, girl you do you! I'm okay with that. BUT..... She also decided not to tell any of the bad ass ex CIA and military that are constantly around her that trouble is coming. Girl I get not going into WITSEC, why the fuck are you keeping this a secret. Bitches need to suck up their pride and get help for crying out loud! IT IS NOT WEAK TO GET HELP! IT MAKES YOU FUCKING STRONGER YOU FUCKING TWIT!! Okay, sorry. I know that was a little moment there, like I said it's been a rough couple of days and needed to get that out. Minus that bit of ridiculous crap, this book was still good. I just wish the "secrets" between these two were spilled earlier and then the book could have been about the actual suspense of this guy escaping from prison and not a the "I need to tell him"/"I need to tell her" bullshit that happened. Which they never tell them, they just always ended up fucking each others brains out, so I guess it was fine. Like I said, minus being frustrated with some of the actions of the book it is still Lora Leigh, it is still awesome writing and it still has awesome sex scenes. I'm really excited for Shay's book, or the Culpepper boys those are going to awesome! Instagram | My Blog | Facebook

ARC received for review We've meet Lily in the previous book. I wanted her to hook up with Justice Strong, Silent Cowboy but Ms. Leigh finds someone new for her (I'm kinda of glad cause Justice was an arse in this book). Levi falls for Lily and has a lot of work cut out for him to get her to fall for him. Lots of drama, angst, adventure, sexy times, and action as they hunt the bad guy. Now is Justice and his brothers going to get their own books....as long as Justice stops being a major pain. ARC received for review We've meet Lily in the previous book. I don't want to say the best thing about this book was the cover but... the best thing about this book was the cover. I liked the idea of a romantic suspense between a former army ranger turned US Marshall working an undercover case as a cowboy and a small town school teacher recovering from a traumatic past. That being said, early enough in the book it becomes obvious the story edges more toward Erotic than Romantic but more over never quite delivers on the Suspense. I wouldn't mind the extra heat usually as I don't believe romance and erotica to be mutually exclusive and actually like my romance extra hot, BUT, the hero's behavior and motivation for engaging a sexual relationship with the heroine were TACKY. If you can forget the fact the heroine is a survivor of sexual assault still undergoing night terror episodes and accept that a law enforcement figure would breach all rules of conduct and ethical codes to satiate his libido by giving free reign over his lust for a heroine he barely glanced at, all but neglecting the very task he was sent to observe —protect the heroine, keep an eye on her from afar— then you'd enjoy this renegade—only in name— cowboy. The sex was hot though nothing memorable and certainly not good enough to make up for this oddly paced and poorly plotted story. Miscommunication and secrets deliberately hidden by an insufferably silly heroine finished to kill it for me. Who in their right mind would refuse protection from authorities when a murderer is let loose and seeks revenge from them? Not smart people, that's whom. Her Renegade Cowboy is the the third novel in Lora Leigh's Moving Violations series, and while it's somewhat of an improvement over the first two novels, both of which I gave 1-star reviews, I found that while it was a little less disjointed than the previous novels in the series, it was still a problematic read for several reasons, which I'll get to, and I am giving it a 2-star rating. My first problem is the title. Levi, the hero, is a member of the U.S. Marshalls Service, not a cowboy, although his cover is working on the ranch belonging to Lily's uncle, nor is he a renegade--he's a lawman. He's been sent there undercover to protect Lily, the victim of a vicious, psychotic rapist and murderer, one she testified against in court, and whose testimony helped send him to prison. He has recently escaped from prison with his cellmate and one other prisoner, and the search is on. After giving her testimony against her former mentor and professor in court, Lily refused to enter the Witness Protection Program, and she is now teaching third graders in the same small town in California where her uncle has his ranch. After hearing of the prison break, she again refuses any and all protection. She lives alone, but is close to the two heroines from first two novels, and it's on her uncle's ranch where she first sees tall, gorgeous hunk, Levi, who, in violation of his job's code of ethics, ends up in her bed without much effort on his part. Had I been the traumatized victim of a brutal rapist/murderer, the last thing I'd do is jump into a sexual relationship with a total stranger who just started working on my uncle's ranch--but once this couple gets into bed, that's pretty much all they do together. While the author is well known for her smoking hot, graphic sex scenes, the speed and frequency of them in this novel was way over the top, especially since Lily, who is an abuse victim, one who still has nightmares about her attack, is usually the aggressor. My other issue was Lily herself. She's one of the most passive/aggressive heroines I've ever encountered, and I've been reading romantic suspense novels for over 30 years. She's sweet and flirty one minute and totally nasty the next. Levi refers to her as sassy, but I viewed her as bitchy. While I've always liked snarky heroines and strong female leads, Lily is the exception. She never really tells Levi the details of her abuse until near the end of the novel, so her over-the-top, nasty reaction to finding out that Levi lied to her about why he's there, and that he's really a U.S. Marshall sent to protect her rather than being the ranch hand that is his cover story, is beyond hypocritical. Once Lily's attacker contacts her, does she then seek protection? Of course not. Instead she decides to go after him alone and unarmed, telling no one where she's going, and evades Levi, who is following her on the highway, which is something else which made little sense to me. Luckily, she finds a handgun under the driver's seat of the truck she's driving, but does she use it as soon as she confronts her attacker? Again, of course not--one of many stupid decisions she makes in this novel. So, two people in lust/love at first sight, too much graphic sex and not enough time for the hero and heroine to really get to know one another, a heroine with zero common sense about her own safety and protection, and the only thing that saved this novel from a one-star review for this reader was the suspenseful ending. Yes, it's got an HEA ending, but it was too short, too abrupt and really needed an epilogue. Ms. Leigh has written some excellent novels over the years (not in this series), but this isn't one of them, and I cannot recommend it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

At first I didn't like Lily, she really annoyed the heck out of me. Levi kept saying she was sassy and he liked that about her but I just found her mean and rude. This one has me a bit torn, I liked it, sort of felt like it was a recycled story line, which then left me a bit bored at times. When the bad guy finally came for Lily I was glad, we would get the big show down, which came right after Lily found out Levi left out one small thing, the reason he was there, which turned out to be not so small. Leaving Lily pissed off and fleeing from Levi. But with all that being said, I do like how this one ended.

Having not had the opportunity to read the first two books I was able to be fully invested in the story, all while having a very good idea of the previous couples in the first two books. I did enjoy the suspense in this story once it started to kick in. My only reticence was the overabundance of steamy scenes. As the book began its focus on the danger that faced Lily, it grew stronger. Many thanks to and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I loved the story and was totally engaged in it. The characters were compelling and the author made me care about them and feel invested in their getting a HEA ending. However, for me, the explicit sex was over the top and consumed far more pages than you would expect in a novel. It really, to me, took away from what would otherwise be a great book. So, for the story itself, 5 stars, but 3 stars for the redundant explicitness, leaving an overall rating of 4 stars.

Unknown to her, Levi who has been hired by her cousin as a ranch hand, is an undercover Marshall sent to protect her regardless of what she wants. Although Lily plays the strong and independent type, I enjoyed how Levi chipped away at her shell but not appearing interested in her at all...which made her second guess his motives. The heroine is a likeable character who is strong but yet cares about those close to her and no harm coming towards them. Once you continue reading through the story, it provides a better understanding of why she holds this secret close to her. I too liked Levi as her protector although he was a bit selfish with not telling her who he really was in order for their relationship to continue to grow without any complicated lies. As always, I do like a bit of steamy between my characters and the intimate scenes did not disappoint between the H/h. This was a well-written story by Ms. Leigh but would have been a bit better if the angst could have come a lot sooner. There is mystery, suspense, and romance. I truly enjoyed the plot and the pace that gets you to that happily ever after. Looking forward to reading the first in this series and reading more from this author. Recommend the read. Good book. Smoking hot sex scenes and a bit of action at the end. If that's your recipe for a good read you've found it here! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Good book. Strong Romance - With A Couple Of Issues. As a romance book, this one works. It has the all the requisite parts and even a couple of the optional ones - clean/ sweet crowd, you're not going to like all the XXX sex in this one, and there is more of it here than many romance novels, even those that include such scenes. As a bit of a psychological drama, it still kind of works, with the female lead clearly having issues she needs to work through. As a bit of a psychological drama, it still kind of works, with the female lead clearly having issues she needs to work through. As a suspense... well, the only actual action here occurs in the last few chapters, the rest of the suspense here is more of the "looming threat" variety. Which works well enough here, but never really makes the pulse pound. No, there really are two primary issues, one of which has been mentioned by at least one other reviewer and the other of which no existing review on Goodreads mentions: First, this is a female who it is made quite clear fairly early on (to the reader) has been assaulted. While there is indeed a fair amount of studies and even anecdotes of this turning the woman a bit promiscuous - for a variety of reasons - the more general feel seems to be that women become much more closed off to sex after this, particularly when still struggling with dealing with the events - as our female lead here is. And yet, the sex scenes here start pretty damn rapidly once she and our male lead connect. Again, in-story, it works well enough. This is mostly a "wait a second" level observation after the story, at least for this reader. (For others, it may well be a true game-stopper.) The other issue, that hasn't been mentioned in a Goodreads review yet, is the constant mention of a gun's "clip". NO! It is a "magazine" or "mag". It is NOT a "clip", and a former Army Ranger and current US Marshall would *damn* well know this! Still, even with this rather glaring example of complete unfamiliarity with the subject, it is one that readers similarly unfamiliar with the subject would think works reasonably well within the story. And then there is the whole thing about this being titled as a cowboy story... and yet there is very little cowboy'ing happening here. Other than a ride inspecting fence posts, the rest of the "ranch" scenes could pretty well have any other location as their base of operations and the book would both read and work the same, almost without any even word changes. Still, these are mostly more observational level issues that didn't really detract from the book - other than the "clip" / "magazine thing - and the story itself, even with the magazine issue, is pretty solid with an action packed ending. And despite being marked as "Book 3" here, it actually works quite well as a standalone, which is how I read it. Very much recommended.

Although this is the third book in the series, it reads as a stand-alone. Lily Donovan, an elementary school teacher, has a secret that only two other people are aware of, but this secret has cost Lily. She's not the same person that she once was and she's much more guarded than she used to be. Levi Roberts gets hired on Lily's cousin's ranch, but Levi has a secret of his own. He's quite taken with Lily from the first time he lays eyes on her and decides he'd like to know her better. Both Lily and Levi, have walls along with secrets. What starts off with Lily putting Levi in his place soon turns to Lily being intrigued about the cowboy. He makes her feel safe. Levi knows he's crossed boundaries, but he's in too deep to back away. He knows he needs to disclose his secret and hopes Lily will understand. Before he gets the chance, another local takes it upon himself to let the cat out of the bag to Lily's cousin, Jacob, then with Lily. The timing is awful, Levi's investigation takes a turn for the worst and puts Lily in danger. She's too spitting mad with the news delivered to her, to listen to anything Levi has to say. A ploy, Levi and his superiors didn't see coming has left Lily vulnerable. Unable to get in touch with his superior, has Levi teaming up with Jacob and when Lily takes off, it becomes a cat and mouse chase to beat this fugitive at his game. I loved the chemistry between Lily and Levi, she was feisty and he was self-assured. Levi had a way of wearing Lily down, such as; after being rebuffed to share some of her pizza in the end still managed to get a slice. Following an angry outburst, the ice cream went a long way to smooth things out. I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin's Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

The oh-so-proper school teacher, Lily Donovan has learned, the hard way, that men are not to be trusted. Period. But when she discovers his deadly secret, and her own secrets come to light, Lily unwittingly joins the lethal cat and mouse race between Levi and the man he’s been hunting for weeks. Former Ranger Levi Roberts has seen his fair share of deadly trouble during his years as a tough-as-nails operative. The ultimate expert in undercover investigations, he’s been tasked to find a man with a dangerous agenda in town. The third book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. I love a romance with suspense & mystery & this book had both but I felt both could have been developed more. We met Lily in the previous book & I thought she was destined to be with someone else! I really liked Lvi but found it hard to like Lily although she did grow on me throughout the book. There was some chemistry between them but it didn’t sizzle, just kind of simmered. That said I did enjoy the book & look forward to more by the author. My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I am really torn about reviewing this book. I hate to be critical, because I know how hard writers work at their craft, and how much of themselves they have invested in each volume. I understand that she had been through a terrible series of traumas, and that they had changed her. She is supposedly a strong, educated woman, but frankly she is very foolish, and even the dreaded Too Stupid To Live. I am trying hard not to give spoilers, but Lily makes poor decisions, over and over again. She doesn't learn from her mistakes, and she puts herself and others in danger. It is Levi who saves this book. He is a splendid character, and far too good for Lily. They have a lot of explicit sex, so if that is not your jam at least you have been warned. As far as I am concerned it saved the book. "Her Renegade Cowboy" is worth reading if you like strong, dominant, heroic men, lots of sex, and if you don't have the same problems with Lily as I do, and my feelings about her are just my personal opinion. The writing is fine, and Levi is worth knowing. Leigh is an established author, but this one is, in my opinion, a near-miss

What I liked: * The small town cowboy setting * Levi: alpha male, takes charge, knows what he wants, military and bedroom skills, capable, intelligent, caring, protective, loves Lily. * Lily: teacher, trauma survivor, suffers PTSD/Anxiety nightmares, closed off, family oriented, trust issues, loves Levi. * Jacob & Sallie: from book two…being reminded of their story and seeing them was fun * Shay: Lily’s sister, says what she thinks, family oriented, strong, independent, not taken with cowboys. * That most of Jacob’s ranch hands are ex-military * That Levi and Lily are well matched in more ways than one * That the bad guy is dealt with successfully * The small town setting What I didn’t like: * The people and events I was meant not to like * That at time Lily seemed willing to take dangerous/unwise risks Did I enjoy this book? I received this ARC for an honest review. This story is about Levi and Lily. Levi is an hired ranch hand on Lily’s cousin ranch. Of course they are drawn to each other from across the field. Levi made it his mission to get to know Lily. Lily has a scary past where she was hurt physically and scared of men. She keeps pushing men away and Levi is stubborn enough to keep trying. For me, it was an ok story.

This story absolutely sizzles with steam and intensity between Lily and Levi. They are awesome together, despite Lily fighting to remain independent in the face of lurking danger. This couple had one fiery relationship leading up to about the halfway point where the drama really kicked in full force. And when the storyline took an even grittier turn, things got intense. My best bookfriend summed it up best when she declared Lora Leigh wrote like Diana Palmer on ecstasy with "sweet silly girls making boneheaded TSTL decisions because they are hypnotized by rugged alphaholes swinging around their boners".
