(B+) 78% | Good Notes: A taste of prior greatness, still much fluff, but battles sizzle, such a shame it ends so lame: its final issues firmly fizzle.

This is certainly a different TMNT nowadays. An adult Lita arrives from a future where everyone parted ways. It all comes down to an uneventful Battle of the Bands as Jennika starts a band for the occasion against Bebop and Rocksteady. Two giant baby mutants are also involved, Tokka and Rahzar, who were originally from the movie TMNT II: the secret of the Ooze. This is quickly turning into a series that I'm just not interested in anymore. This is certainly a different TMNT nowadays. An adult Lita arrives from a future where everyone parted ways. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Still fantastic, wish I could give an extra star for featuring a Battle of the Bands! Oh yeah and the gang teams up to save the Sacred Timeline or whatever. Still fantastic, wish I could give an extra star for featuring a Battle of the Bands! The Turtles' time-tampering treks haven't historically done very well with me personally, so when I heard that Renet was due to appear in this arc I was sceptical to say the least. But it's actually not bad at all. Instead of the Turtles going on a jaunt across time, a grown-up Lita returns from the future to help preserve the timeline. We get a glimpse of what could be Lita's words and slip-ups, which makes me wonder if IDW has a really long-term plan for the book or if this is all just wishful The Turtles' time-tampering treks haven't historically done very well with me personally, so when I heard that Renet was due to appear in this arc I was sceptical to say the least. The idea of tying everything around a battle of the bands is an interesting one since comics are a visual medium, but it is again surprisingly effective. Jennika's still getting the turtle's share of the spotlight, but that's still to be expected at this point given how new she is to the team in the grand scheme of things. Oh, and Tokka and Razar show up, who are apparently names Turtles fans will be familiar with, but they didn't mean much to me other than being adorable and terrifying all at once. Sophie Campbell pencils almost all of these six issues with just a little help from Jodi Nishijima, so the artwork's as consistent as it's always been. This little rotating group of Campbell, Nishijima, and Nathan Daniel really works well for this era of TMNT. A time-twistingly terrific time, with hints of more to come and yet more good character work for Jennika while the Mutant Town plot bubbles away in the background. TMNT remains a solid read.

Sophie Campbell continues to impress me both with her art as well as plot. Some people may be disappointed by the lack of action in Campbell's run so far, but I love it. The deeper delve into the character's attempts to heal and also figure out how to build a society in Mutant Town is fantastic. I hope Sophie Campbell continues to impress me, because I am loving this so far. And damn if it doesn't feel great having the TMNT back in my life with such color and life! where are all the karate chops? Talking, more talking, and then a battle of the bands? What’s going on? Where’s the action jackson? The gadgets? I don’t even remember a single slice of pizza in this!!

The most interesting premise yet in Sophie Campbell's run and the most disappointing execution you can possibly imagine. Ready for a new writer. The most interesting premise yet in Sophie Campbell's run and the most disappointing execution you can possibly imagine. Ready for a new writer.

I won't remember this a month later but it is a fun and pleasant iteration of the turtles. I won't remember this a month later but it is a fun and pleasant iteration of the turtles.
