Great characters and an engaging plot with several twists will keep readers glued to the pages. Definitely a series to grab for fans of cold-case detective stories who will enjoy a sci-fi twist! Each of these books are such an intense, roller-coaster ride! In this installment Rem has gone back in time again to solve a cold case and change the future for two people. Of course he can't control nor remember everything, so there are plenty of twists that keep readers guessing what will happen and how it will all affect his life in the future. These characters become more lovable each book and you can't help but cheer Rem and Eve on as well as love seeing other characters. Rem is such a strong character and the authors do a great job in how this series is written for readers to feel all of his emotions as well as Eve's. You're completely immersed in the story and hanging on the edge of your seat. I literally could not put this book down. I figured out who the villain was in the last book and was dying for these two to figure things out too. Still not sure of all the consequences from Rem's choices and what will happen in the final book, but I can't wait! In the end, was it what I wished for? A thrilling ride of detective work with a time-travel twist. Readers will fall in love with these characters over the course of this series and hang on every choice as Rem tries to fix his future. Highly recommended! Content: Some innuendo and violence. Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through JustRead Tours, which did not require a positive review. I've missed Rem's conversational storytelling and his honest, sarcastic, and raw fighting voice and spirit. There is a lot that happens in this book and if you thought there were suspenseful plot twists and action in the previous books, you are in for a grand and delightful treat with this book. And faith thread is introduced here through Rem's father's wisdom and a little girl whom Rem meets through a cold case in the past. The ending is a cliff-hanger... it's not just the gasp-inducing, what-in-the-world-happened kind of a cliff-hanger like before but also one that gives a glimmer of hope in the new reality Rem finds himself. Can we fast-forward to November already for the last book?! I received the book from the authors/publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

4.5 Stars Every single time I meet up with Rembrandt Stone, I know I’m in for a twisting and wild ride. And Blood from a Stone by David James Warren is the most white-knuckled, knock you over one yet. When we left Rembrandt last, he was desperate to get back to his past. To right the penultimate wrong in his present. But no matter how the man plans, no matter his determination to beat fate and change the outcome, he is swept back to his present with regrets. With only one book left in the True Lies of Rembrandt Stone series, there is a lot to sort out. Will Rem get what he wants most back? This book, this whole series, deserves so much more than five stars. I have NEVER been as hooked on a series as I am on The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone. Holy. Cow. Blood From A Stone is the fifth book in the True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone and is one of the best. As I've said before, Time Travel is just not my genre but this series has really been an exception for me. The whole question of how important even our tiniest choices are, how they affect others, and just how responsible we are for what happens, is fascinating to explore through fiction. A lot of that existential stuff may be above my pay grade but it's been interesting to watch as Rem's character has changed and grown as he wrestles with those questions. The combined talent that is David James Warren has really run their main character through the wringer thus far but the ante has been upped exponentially in this book. I kinda surprised myself at how fast I finished Blood From A Stone, I read it all in one day which is definitely quicker than the previous True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone. Maybe it had something to do with the bombshells that just kept dropping on poor Rem. James Rubart, Susan May Warren, and David Curtis Warren were pretty gutsy to take on writing a story with a single main character but I can tell you that it's been a winning combination so far! And after the cliffhanger at the end of Blood From A Stone I can't wait to read the conclusion to the True Lies Of Rembrandt Stone... (I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

This is book number five of six in the “True Lies of Rembrandt Stone” series. This is definitely a series that you will want to read in order otherwise you will be completely lost. When this book starts, Rembrandt is in the past trying to figure out how to undo all the things he previously changed. This book is so good. As soon as you have an idea of what might happen, the author throws you a curveball. The suspense and mystery of this plot is a twenty on a scale of one to ten. “There are no happy endings,” says Rembrandt, and I’m starting to wonder if he isn’t right. Seriously, the ending for Blood from a Stone is such a horrific shocker I don’t know what to expect next. But I’m keeping the faith that David James Warren will not let this stand. And speaking of standing, standing is the emerging theme for this whole series. I’m not sure Rem has been clear on what he should stand for, but the experiences he’s had are starting to clarify for him what’s most important in “There are no happy endings,” says Rembrandt, and I’m starting to wonder if he isn’t right. This series has great characters. Rembrandt continues to evolve into the best sort of man, and Eve becomes more endearing. The secondary characters have grown as well and, I want them all to be alive when I get to the last page with one exception. I don’t want the villain to survive, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Rembrandt figures it all out and deals with this dastardly person. With just one more book left in the series, I’m anticipating a spectacular conclusion. This is the best series of 2021. I received an advance copy for review but I’ve ordered it because this series is just that good.

Each book has great mystery, some profound perspectives, and there is always an amazing cliffhanger. Rembrandt Stone is one of my favorite book protagonists, a flawed character on a journey towards redemption. I still love the idea of Stone Quantum Leaping back to the past, trying to right wrongs. And I love even more the Butterfly Effecting that happens from every major decision he makes. It definitely keeps you guessing! The good news is that Blood From A Stone was another winner from writing trio David James Warren. The bad news is that there is only one book remaining. On to book 6 for the finale!

The authors have blown me away once again by surprising me at every turn. They're hasn't been a moment when I've ever felt I knew what to expect. The only thing I know is that anything can happen. And it DOES in this installment. With Eve, with his parents, with his cases, etc I feel like my mind and emotions are put through the wringer. What could be better because it keeps me coming back for more and wondering HOW the heck this is gong to be wrapped up in the next book and how can I beg them for more of the same. Each book solidifies how unique and excellent this series and will always stay at the top of my favorite series... EVER. I liked that faith was brought up to Rem in a more "you can't avoid this" way. You can tell he's also trying to be "better" with his choices. He seems to question himself more. And Eve, I love her more each time! Her belief in Rem and her inner knowing (at least this time) of who he truly is just makes me root for them even more! This series is excellent and not too be missed! *I received this book for review. This is my personal opinion.

It can be a hard task for an author to keep a reader engaged in the 5th of a 6-book series. But not if you're David James Warren and the series is "The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone." No, I was just as captivated with Blood from a Stone as I was in the other previous four novels. But Rembrandt is faced with the same task he has been in the other books; one that, in truth, he's wandered a bit off course from. He's supposed to solve a cold case. But, what Rem thinks should occur on this trip to the past doesn't. Instead, there are new crimes and new occurrences; quite a lot of them. New clues. And unfortunately, new killings. Will Rembrandt actually solve the crime and return his future to what it should be? Enjoy book #5, Blood from a Stone. Keep your hopes up for Rem. Things might just work out after all. But there is still one more book to come... But don't miss Blood from a Stone. You'll love David James Warren's jaunt to the past, with its familiar music, younger versions of characters you know and love, and the hope, ever-present, that Rem can fix the past. I have loved every book in the Rembrandt Stone series so far and the fifth book, Blood From A Stone, was no exception. There were aspects of this book I didn’t enjoy as much as others, but that was only because certain situations weren’t working out the way I wanted them to. I wanted the parts of the main character’s life that were broken in other books to be fixed. Fixed I tell you! I was hooked on this series from page one of the first book, Cast the First Stone. I fell fast in love with Rembrandt and his wife Eve and their daughter Ashley and all the supporting characters around them. My fast attachment is probably why I have read these books with a “fist in my gut” as Rem would say. I’m on edge, anxious to know if it will all turn out okay, if the family will be happy again, which isn’t a spoiler if you know these books are time travel thrillers. In time travel there is always a chance things will go wrong, but that they can be corrected again. They can be corrected again, right? Right?! Of course, they can, as long as the author (or in this case authors) want it to. Oh, I truly hope these authors want it to. Most who review this book, and others in the series, are going to tell you they love the fast-paced action, the way Rem breaks the fourth wall, the characters, the backstories that are woven through the series and I love all those aspects as well. What I also love, though, is how marriage is portrayed in these books. It’s not boring, mundane, or something to get out of. It is passionate, special, something to fight for. The bond between Rem and Eve spans timeline after timeline but each time Rem knows that Eve belongs with him, that without her his life isn’t worth living, no matter how many cases he solves, how many wrongs he makes right. You rarely find a series of books that can balance suspense, mystery, action, and romance. Thankfully, the Rembrandt Stone series is one of those rare, to-be-treasured finds. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I like that most of the characters are the same throughout each book and sometimes we read things from Stone or Eve’s point of view. Highly recommend this series! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

If anyone needs to know how to write a series or how to create characters that grip readers and simply won't let go, I will hand over these books and tell them to study. This storytelling is fantastic. Painful, but fantastic. I walked into this book with the wounds that were inflicted by the ending of the previous book. Rem and I were in a similar state: desperate for things to be fixed. Fix it, trippy time watch. Fix it, Jesus. Whoever can and will, JUST FIX IT. My absolute favorite part of this book is Rem's growth. Though he's certainly learned throughout the series, and he is more humble and slightly less bitter than when we met him, I felt like this was the book that highlighted how far he's truly come. I enjoyed seeing that, even if the process has hurt like the devil. I'm so beyond ready for the next book in the series. I'm hopeful for good things and so excited to see the interactions between certain characters! I'm not telling you how to live your life, but don't miss this series. Just don't. You can thank me later. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. All expressed opinions belong to me.

I am loving this series. It is torture to have to wait for the next book to come out, though. Thank goodness they are coming out so close together! I never know what to expect when I dive back into Rembrandt Stone's life (other than he can't get it fixed yet, because there are more books in the series). I love the writing style and feeling like I'm a part of the story. Although, I must say, I'm glad I'm not Rembrandt. It would be super confusing waking up and not knowing what in the world is goi I am loving this series. It is torture to have to wait for the next book to come out, though. I can't wait to read the last book in the series. My hunch about what is going on with the Jackson Killer is getting stronger and I want to see if it's true. I got a free copy of this book. Blood from a Stone by David James Warren for the fifth time allows readers to time travel with Rembrandt to the past as he tries to fix the future back to the way it was. Of course, more problems arise. After having failed four times, he hopes and prays that the fifth time is the charm. Again with the knowledge of past events, he tries to stop the crimes before they occur, but it does not end up correct and a domino effect of errors start occurring. After reading all five novels at this time, I really can’t wait to see how Warren ties up this series. Does everything go back to the way it was? Does Rembrandt learn to accept life the way it is? The plot continues to showcase danger and the hunt for the Jackson Five killer. I do enjoy the amount of action that is crafted in the novel. I do enjoy that Warren has Rembrandt try really hard to win his wife’s Eve affections. Overall, Blood from a Stone is another thrilling installment, and I can’t wait to get my hand on the final book and see how this series ends. I received a complimentary copy of Blood from a Stone by David James Warren from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Our job in life, Rem is just to stand firm on what we believe in. Because we are only accountable to the men we are called to be. Another great installment to this series. In this book, I felt Rem's inner conflict to try and fix what he changed, to save the lives of the people he loves and to protect those he was called to serve. I loved the way the author keeps the reader in the dark along with Rem. The author also threw in a few twists and turns not expected in this installment. I love the honesty and vulnerability only the reader gets to see through this journey with Rem. It's brutal to hear your own screams, the rending of your soul. Even in the padding of the rain, and night, I'm shaken through, and I'm unashamed of my grief. Looking forward to the final book in this series. There is so much I want to be returned to Rem, and so much new things I don't want to change, and I have a feeling we won't be able to get everything we want! *I received a complimentary copy from the author. The stakes have never been higher. With future kills to stop and the murderer of 38 others on the loose, can Rembrandt Stone catch the killer before the death toll rises – again? It can’t get any more heart-rending; with Stone reeling from a new death and more determined than ever to repair his family, how could a small, simple crime get in his way? The trio of authors are masters at keeping you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t put Blood From a Stone down and finished it in a single sitting! Really, though, this is the kind of book that will have you speeding through the pages and then ready to throw the book down in anguish because you’re not ready for it to be over – but, no, you have to find out! I was thrilled to find a sneak peak at the next book in the back because waiting for more Rembrandt Stone just isn’t an option. Five books in, there have now been five versions of Rembrandt’s life, and honestly, it can get a bit tricky remembering which storylines fit together. The authors sneak in great clues, though, that put it all together for you if you’re stuck, and I love how seamlessly they make these work. It’s satisfying to see certain elements of his life improve over the first version, while others have gotten increasingly worse. Rembrandt Stone is understanding himself and the consequences of his choices more and more as he jumps through time, and that only makes you cheer for him louder. His newfound respect for honor and others are building him into a truly swoon-worthy hero, both inside and out. That’s part of what makes this series so great. Rembrandt Stone is the kind of character you want on your side. He’s the one you want to call if something goes wrong and the one you want beside you if your boat sinks. He’s a caring and compassionate fixer, someone who can see through the shades of gray to the truth underneath. He cares about people and justice and wants right to win out. David James Warren is merciless, though, and they’re not making Stone’s journey easy. He’s becoming a better man, but the situation around him keep getting worse. Can he catch the murderer and end the killing spree? Is Stone going to find a way back to his family? Or, when the stakes rise, will he lose his own sense of right and wrong? You need to add Blood From a Stone to your TBR list and find out. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the authors. All opinions are mine.

All he wants is to get back to his time to find his wife and daughter safe and alive to grow old with him. The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone is the kind of series you want to read one book right after another. The cliffhanger endings kill me!! I am so glad this is written and released in a way we don’t have to wait long for the next installment. Each time I think the tag team of David James Warren can’t get any better, I am proven wrong. The story is fast paced and tight, no fluff, just a good story. It is complex enough that requires readers to pay close attention to follow Stone as he goes back and forth between the timelines. Rembrandt, Evie, and all the rest of the characters from this series make it one of the best I have read in a long time. With each time jump, Rem finds himself in a more complicated situation to unravel the threads that hold together his life making it easy to root for him to succeed. My heart breaks for him each time he gets bad news that shows his attempt to fix his future hasn’t worked out as well as he was hoping it would. With only one more book in the series, there is a lot to wrap up and I am dying to see how David James Warren will do it. I have no doubt it will all come together; this powerhouse team of writers is up to the challenge. I recommend this book to readers that love a great time travel mystery with an intricate plot and characters you are going to fall in love with. It is a series that needs to be read in order and not just pick one to pick up at random. I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. “I kiss her. It’s not gentle, nor is it desperate, just the kiss that tells her what I already know. I am hers. And she is mine.” Whew. Detective Rembrandt Stone is a romantic at heart that travels through time to solve crimes, catch a serial killer, and save his family. His wife is the love of his life and when he keeps messing with their timeline, he never stops fighting for their happy ending. I am enjoying how much Rem’s character grows through this series. This book makes me question that character a bit at times, and yet what would I do in his shoes with a serial killer on the loose? “Who are you, Rembrandt Stone? And why is it that I can’t seem to escape the idea that you are more than you seem?” However, be prepared for your heart to be ripped out and stuffed back in as this time traveling hero goes through mishaps that will change everything, again. I’m on the edge of my seat with a roller coaster ride of emotions waiting on the next book. Seriously, just when you think it can’t get better, Rembrandt Stone takes on a whole new life that will keep you begging for more. Be sure to start with the first book, “Cast The First Stone.” I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own and have been given honestly.

And, it's another installment in the life of Rembrandt Stone. And whew! Another wild ride. I hate this series. I mean this in the best way possible...It puts you through all kinds of torture. Blood from a Stone was another fantastic installment in this series. And like I've said before, each book just gets better and better. This is the best one yet. I've become so invested in Rem and Eve's lives, hoping, wishing, praying that everything will work out in the end. The stakes have never been higher for Rem. This is his last chance to get things right, to fix the past, and create a future he can live with. And, my goodness, what a surprising journey to the past this was! Blood from a Stone is probably my favorite installment of the series. Everything Rembrandt Stone does with his time-traveling watch changes his future in permanent and severe ways. All he wants to do is return to the present to find his wife and daughter safe and sound, but fate takes over and Rem find himself digging a deeper time-warped hole that he can't get out of. The 4th in this series ended on a knife edge and the suspense didn’t let up in this 5th, and penultimate, novel. The action is heart pounding as we move with Rem to right the wrongs of the past so his future can be whole again. Trust me the pace kept going and I’m now very anxious for the final part. Excellent series and I never read time travel fiction…

Oh my goodness, I cannot put these books down. This was another riveting and thrilling tale of Rembrant's time travel and trying to solve (and maybe fix) cold cases.
