Lots of photos, not much writing. All the captions for the photos are at the end of the book, which is really annoying. You can jump from the caption back to the photo, but you have to put a bookmark on the page with the photo and drag to the end of the f#@%ing book every time to read the next caption, which gets old immediately. So you don't bother checking very often. I am, of course, referring to the ebook. Not much new ground is covered here. It's rather dull considering it's about an all-female band from the 80s known for wild partying and internal power struggles. Schock barely mentions her own drug use, spends about a paragraph on her bandmate's near-fatal heroin addiction (but never identifies the drug as heroin; that would be rude). It's all too pleasant and inoffensive to be really interesting. Yes, you're a good drummer, your band became rock stars, you met famous people, but how do you really feel?

Go-Go's drummer Gina Schock's memoir was released during an incredibly exciting time for the band - the same week as the Go-Go's were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Gina's book is filled with many photographs featuring the early days of the band. Having purchased both a hardcover copy and the Audible edition, I enjoyed both - the amount of text is relatively small, but both Gina and bassist Kathy Valentine are among the narrators of the audiobook, and it's always great to hear fro Go-Go's drummer Gina Schock's memoir was released during an incredibly exciting time for the band - the same week as the Go-Go's were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Gina fills in her pre-Go-Go's backstory very well, much in the same way that Kathy and singer Belinda Carlisle did in their earlier autobiographies. Is it too much to hope for guitarists Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin to write memoirs too? Fingers crossed!

Great pictures but a little light as a memoir...i have read memoirs from 3 out of 5 of the Go-Gos and while all have been good, I wish they would cover the post breakup time a bit more. There original run as a band was a whirlwind, I'd like to know more about why they broke up (besides drugs and money) and what things were like when they would reform. If you're a Go-Go's fan, you'll probably love this book. While mostly pictures, there is also a lot of great content on the history of the band. Nice pix Many many photos, fun to see, including the bands members and other notable of their era. Text interesting but not on a par with Kathy Valentine's memoir, All I Ever Wanted. In 1981, the Go-Go's released Beauty and the Beat, one of the greatest debut albums. This book by Go-Go's drummer Gina Schock tells the story of how the band got there and what came after.
