I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. It is a moving memoir of the end of the author’s marriage…as she deals with her husband Brian’s progressive dementia and his desire to leave this world on his own terms. Having experienced the downward spiral of Alzheimers in a family member, I found this was all so true.

Brutifully honest and gut wrenching memoir. Such a beautiful relationship and how tough and compassionate to follow through with a very hard decision. A fascinating albeit grim true love story. I’d love to discuss this with someone else who has read. I won this as a Goodreads Giveaway. Thank you to Amy Bloom and Random House for my ARC.

i don't remember the last time i devoured a book so quickly (two sittings, which for me is...) amy bloom is unafraid, unbothered by the thought of showing us every inch of her grief. she puts her loss in your throat like a knot you cannot seem to swallow. it was brutal, and yet so painstakingly tender. everyone should read this. i don't remember the last time i devoured a book so quickly (two sittings, which for me is...) amy bloom is unafraid, unbothered by the thought of showing us every inch of her grief. she puts her loss in your throat like a knot you cannot seem to swallow. it was brutal, and yet so painstakingly tender. everyone should read this.

Although I was sometimes annoyed with the privileged life of the author and her husband, I was ultimately won over and touched by this account of the planned accompanied suicide of her husband who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.
