I'm always trying to get into protagonist head. Blake Wilder, being the strong sassy, moral woman she's supposed to portray, I find it really hard that she fails her own instincts. She hunts serial killers, rapists purely evil human beings but cannot see or feel what lays in front of her, by a person leaving not bread crumbs but whole loaves of bread to follow, makes me doubt her ability to really believe in her anymore. Having to cliffhanger the reader for few months to get her supposedly sharp I'm always trying to get into protagonist head. Again, I really like the story but the number of typos is starting to bother me. This book seems to have more formatting issues than actual typos... things like no spacing between words or missing words.

Impatient! The worst part of this series is waiting for the next book. The storyline is becoming more intricate, more involved, more complicated and more interesting with each book. But at the same time it is getting more difficult to wait for the answer to all Blake's questions. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long. Impatient! Another good story This book was not as riveting as some of the others, but still very good. I am a bit confused though. Mark out the cameras in Blake's house a few books back. But now Brody says it is clean. What happened to the cameras? I also wanted to throttle Blake when Borden was killed. The only people who knew where she was meeting him was Pax, Astra, and Mark. Did she not out it to sense that it was Mark?? But, I love the series and cannot wait until the next book! Another good story This book was not as riveting as some of the others, but still very good. Elle Gray can spin a tale. I really like the series, I know she is self publishing, no one can pump out this many books this fast, but she really could use an editor, proof reader and agent. There are more typos than usual in this one and the inconsistencies I see a good editor would fix. The problem is mechanical not in her ability to tell a story, though doing a bit of consulting with an actual FBI agent or two would help, there are things she has Blake, and her team, saying and doing that are Elle Gray can spin a tale. The problem is mechanical not in her ability to tell a story, though doing a bit of consulting with an actual FBI agent or two would help, there are things she has Blake, and her team, saying and doing that are simply wrong, details that would be correct if she consulted. Lying to FBI agents is a felony level offense yet they never mention that, don't seem to know it themselves. Little things like that detract from the story line. Her plotting is fine, her imagination is fine, I enjoy the series. But. Blake consistently describes herself as calm, collected, even stoic, in her internal dialog (of which there is too much) yet she is constantly completely losing her composure with suspects, her boss, even her team occasionally. She physically attacks a suspect in this book, one she cannot prove had anything to do with the crime she is investigating - that's not something that can be tolerated anywhere, let alone in an FBI office. She promised her friend, the Seattle Medical Examiner in the last book to help her stay out of trouble with her nemesis in the Seattle PD (another just glaring hole in her narrative, I don't care how well someone plays the political "game", no one at the Deputy Chief level would be tolerated as Torres is, that is simply unbelievable) by arranging to meet offsite, yet in this book she again barges in with Astra (the character I like least just because of her constant snark) in tow. She finally breaks up with Mark, then takes him back. She is at last waking to the possibility he is not what he says he is and ultimately finds out that is true. She's touted her physical skills in earlier books, mentioning her expertise in martial arts but in this one she is completely unable to defend herself against an attacker who was IN her "war" room (she never connects that visit to what she is privately investigating - her parents murder and her sister's abduction, and has yet to tell her boss she has this side project going), who we know IS her sister. She's really proud of having her own team but she thinks them learning to insult each other is a good thing, camaraderie when it is not, of course there is some of that in offices, it creates a hostile work environment and is not tolerated in modern workplaces, certainly not in FBI offices. The banter is distracting and annoying. She is consistently insubordinate to her boss who has gone out on a limb to help her get her own team, I can't imagine (as a former manager and supervisor) tolerating that childish behavior for a minute, let alone the entire time she has worked for her. That said, the series is still worth reading, entertaining and well plotted. I do want to see what happens next, I have all that have been published so far and have begun the next in the series already. I admire Elle's talent, I just wish she'd get some real help because her books would be so much better with it.

This is the 5th in the series and loved it. Blake Wilder is still in charge of her team at the FBI. Her team has just been assigned a case where a body was found in a barrel in the water. No way to ID who it is as parts of the body are missing. But, if you know Blake's team, they have a lot of resources and she is trying to find out the identity. In doing so, she comes up against the Deputy Poice Chief Torres on another case she is trying to pursue, this one relates back to the murder of her mother This is the 5th in the series and loved it. The lady that was going to give her some information was murdered and Torress thinks that Blake might have something to do with it. So in dealing with him, her overbearing boyfriend and trying to solve the case of the murder of the man in the barrel, she is putting her life in danger again. Love these books and this one ends with an exciting update on information on her parent's murder and who might be double crossing her!!

What going on with Elle Gray? I have read the previous four books in the Blake Wilder series and enjoyed them. The Secrets She Kept is riddled with grammatical errors and too many typos to count. It now appears her goal is simply to churn out yet another book with absolutely no pride in the finished product. Book five in this series reads like a first draft. That's sad. Shame on Ms. Gray and shame on you too, Amazon.

Not a stand alone ## Great read "IF" you're reading this series in order. It definitely doesn't stand alone. The murder of Ben was solved, very anticlimactic BTW. However, many questions remain. Is Blake's sister really alive? If that was indeed her sister, why is she trying to kill Blake? Is she part of Thirteen? And what exactly IS Thirteen? What happens with Blake's boyfriend Mark now that she knows he's a fraud? Why did the author throw in the stuff with Mo's case? And what about Deputy Chief Torres? That situation was left up in the air as well. I wish more progress would've been but I'm hoping the next book will have some answers.

These are great cases that make you think of all the horrible things people are capable of doing. I liked that Blake's sister slipped and made eye contact , but can only guess as to why she got the beat on her own sister? I'm glad she's finally waking up to who Mark really is but worry that its only going to bring her more pain to what is already a painful reality of letting your guard down and allowing someone to get close😔 And I so want her to get Torres, that I wish she would focus on one enem These are great cases that make you think of all the horrible things people are capable of doing. Let's hope this next books bits at least one of these to bed, once and for all.

Good book I almost gave this particular book 3 stars because I found it to be a little boring as there was too much explaination on every subject, but after getting to book 7 I realize why, it was a little breather to what is to come, get ready for a wild ride and remember one thing, this is fiction, or is it? Which way is up and right Oncee againd Elle Gray has written another good mystery. We find Blake getting so immersed into her current cases, that she has to take time off, wether she wants to or not. Also in her search for the murders of her parents, we find out her sister is alive and dangerous to Blake. Surprising news of her on again off again boyfriend, the doc, is not good. Where an Blake go fron here? Blake is totally shutdown on a lot of avenues in this book. Once again great reading.

Great Read This is the best of the series so far. Ms. Gray has definitely gotten into her grove with the characters. No lapses into anything we readers of the series; reading as if the series are Lays® potato chips. Because I know you've read “About the Book” I won't say anything about the plot, only that it is tighter than the first four. SPOILER: Another cliff hanger that will have your jaw dropped (unless you've been paying attention). Rick is good, Brody is better. This one I loved. Great Read This is the best of the series so far. exciting read I love this series, so much so that I binge-read them and get surprised when I find myself so absorbed in the story that I’m startled that I’m at the end. That being said, please, please, fix the typos, bad punctuation, and especially the added/missing words. It’s so annoying to hit these errors and need to stop and reread a section to get it right. It’s like hitting speed bumps at full speed. Not ver professional.

Wow!!! Just wow!!!! Wow! Just wow! I love this series and diving deeper into Blake's life is so exciting and a bit scary. I'm on the edge of my seat in this book. I recommend reading the books in this series in order. I suppose they could be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them as a series. I think it would be difficult to follow the storyline without the complete story. Wow!!! Just wow!!!! Wow! Just wow! Excellent Series Elle Gray's writing is superb, start with Book 1 and you won't want to stop. I cannot wait for the next one to come out. The same is true for the Paxton Arrington series. Intelligent writing, intelligent and excellent characters, unbelievable mysteries. If you are a fan of thrillers, you will be a big fan of Elle Gray. An Engrossing & Exciting Series I have throughly enjoyed both the Blake Wilder and Arribgton series. The cases that play out in each book can stand completely on their own, but the underlying story of Blake's past and her current issue with Torres make the stories even more exciting. Cannot Wait for the Next Book!!! Really like this series. Great characters and great plot. Love that each book has its own mystery with the overarching mystery through them all. A great series I truly liked this series. It had some misspelled words, some omitted words, and some crowded words. There was also a couple of mistakes in person. However, with all that (and they didn't occur in every book), it was a great series and I truly appreciate the fact that it kept me hooked. Looking forward to the next issue! The Best Another great Blake Wilder book. Nothing about these books is boring. You keep clicking over to the page because you don't know what is next. I think I have a girl crush on Blake OMG each book in this series makes me want more. I love the characters who are human and vulnerable. Quite unique for a mystery. The blurring of the lines between the good guys and the bad guys is far more realistic and true to life than we like to believe. Great book

Good series This is truly an amazing book. SSA Wilder is trying to find the killer of a young college student. This series is so good, but the grammar or I should say the editing in this book was distracting. Hopefully Elle's editing department will see their faults and republish this.
