Beau's book is a great reconnection between reader and team and I loved getting updates on all of the previous couples as his (fake) relationship with Piper played out. How was it that none of this was real, yet it felt so easy? So natural? So right and perfect..? One of my favourite tropes takes centre stage in this one and I loved every second of reading it. Piper and Beau were both wholly likeable characters and as the book progressed you got to see that they both had more in common than initially thought, and those similarities were what ultimately bought them out of the pretend-zone and into something more real. Sexy, emotional and low-drama, another really great addition to the series. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book; Scoring Position which according to Goodreads is due for release next month! YES! Not to enjoy this book but just because they are worth the read. The characters do crossover so you'll get little updates on past HEAs. Plus, there's a little scene with The Prescotts. “Pretend to be my girlfriend.” She laughed, shaking her head. “Yeah, no. I don't think so.” Hit and Run is the fifth story in the Dallas Longhorns series, starring Beau and Piper, and don't we all just love a "Fake It Till You Make It" read, the good ole' fake lovers turned HEA trope? I don't know about you, but I definitely do. While I have never taken it upon myself to start the Dallas Longhorns series (embarrassing, I know), I absolutely loved Hit and Run. So don't worry, this can definitely be read as a standalone! If you're one of those readers who don't like jumping into the middle of the series because of some mild inclusions and mentions of some older characters, you should probably start the series from the start. It was just fine for me though, and that's saying something because I'm the kind that normally starts everything from the start (yes, prequels included). This time however, I just couldn't find time to start the story from the very first book, Stealing Home, Maggie and Dylan's story. I plan on reading it very soon though! It's been staying in my tbr list for way too long. “We shouldn't,” she whispered, winding her arms around his neck. The thrill of doing something she knew she shouldn't was scorching her from the inside out, leaving her insides feeling molten. Piper and Beau's chemistry was off-the-charts hot, the line between fake and real for them both soon blurring. In my opinion, they were both entirely likeable characters, and there's absolutely no need to worry that you'd want to throw your kindle/phone/laptop/physical copy across the room out of pure rage or frustration. Nope. None of that here. If anything, their personalities complimented each other extremely well, and they both had quite a lot in common. This was an overall amazing read, with (of course) no cheating, guaranteed HEA and beautiful writing. p.s. Like I said, I haven't read the rest of the Dallas Longhorns series yet so who know, but for now, my favorite series from Tara is The Prescotts. You should definitely check them out if you haven't yet. I received a free copy of this book as an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are mine.

I am so glad I stumbled on Tara Wyatt's stories. They are delightful and oh so satisfying to read. They are filled with close family or community, and warm relationships. We don't often get to read about baseball romance and it was a nice change from all the hockey out there in romance land. I can't wait for the next story. Beau Beckett is a player in more than baseball. He's the king of one-night stands. He's also having a really great year on the diamond and about to go into free agency. Unfortunately his bedroom reputation is starting to hurt his advertising contracts and his chances of getting a big time contract for the next year. His agent Aerin Prescott-Flores says he's got to clean up his act on social media or he's going to loose more than his Walmart ad campaign. The answer is to dry up his love life or find a fake girlfriend for the rest of the season. Enter Piper Rhodes. Piper Rhodes is the team fitness and yoga instructor. She's a local fitness and lifestyle influencer with a YouTube channel and an app in the works if she can just get a start-up loan. She and Beau have been flirting for months but she has no time for relationships and certainly not with Beau who's on the team she works for. When Beau approaches her with the fake relationship deal she considers it as he's willing to pay her the start up funds for her app in the deal. And so starts the irresistible chemistry between these two who discover they have very similar upbringings. Conflict happens when each get their separate hearts desires on opposite sides of the country. Beau has to do some major soul searching if they want their happily ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The angst is minimal here, delightfully so, and Wyatt doesn’t skimp on the steamy scenes despite the book’s shorter length. There are also some great cameos from characters in previous Dallas Longhorns books, which I thought added a lot of depth to the story. You can definitely read this as a standalone, but if you want to get optimal enjoyment out of this book, I’d recommend starting at the beginning and enjoying the ride. I loved this fun and flirty fake relationship story! Piper and Beau already knew each other through work…she’s teaching yoga classes the Longhorns baseball team, so they’ve already got their own playful banter going on. But when Beau’s off friend reputation needs some rehabbing to help with his upcoming free agency, he’s very resistant at first. But Piper is willing to help him out, so why not give it a shot. They both know it’s just temporary and won’t get physical (ha, like that never happens!) I loved this fun and flirty fake relationship story! It’s never as simple as that, especially when emotions start to develop. But the thing I love most about them as a couple and the storyline in general is it never gets that angsty ugliness that is used too often in romance. It’s all just sexy, funny, and yeah, confusing moments. But they all add up to a great story with fantastic characters. Hit and Run can be read as a stand-alone, but if you love good sports romance, and who doesn’t, go back and real the previous books in the series as well. They’re all really great.

This is the 5th book in the Dallas Longhorn’s series. Although some couples from the previous books in the series do appear in this one, each book stands completely alone and ends with an HEA. Beau is a delicious sort of hero. Some might take exception to the fact that he enjoys the company of women - and doesn’t do repeat performances - but that doesn’t bother me, especially as it helps him see that Piper is different. I liked that he was honest with himself about his feelings, but that they also terrified him. He really was just a sexy, confident, playful man who inside was sweet, caring and sensitive. The heroes that need a big ol’ hug are always my favourite. Equally, Piper was such a likeable character. She was confident and upbeat but throughout the book we get to learn about her personality and that she has worries and insecurities like the rest of us. She, too, was honest with herself about her feelings for Beau and she never stopped being herself. When she stopped the fun times with Beau to put her cookie dough ice-cream in the freezer, I think I might have fallen in love! I like a girl who has her priorities on point! Beau and Piper have exceptional chemistry and from the first, I adored them as a couple. Their teasing and banter was only eclipsed by the wonder that Beau felt on experiencing a relationship with Piper and all the small things that entails. It was adorable. However, adorable is not the word I would use to describe the sex between them. Smoking hot might be more accurate. I have been known to skim read some sex scenes if I’m not in the mood and yet I read every single word of the details between Beau and Piper. Good times. Very good times. This book is quite short at only 182 pages long. I could have done with it being so much longer but that’s probably because I enjoyed it so much that I absolutely devoured it. Tara Wyatt brings the emotion, chemistry, story and writing that you can’t help but fall in love with. Her characters are the kind you want to know and read about, and she definitely knows what I want in terms of a satisfying romance. I loved this book and would happily recommend it. 5 stars.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Piper and Beau) HIT AND RUN follows the fake boyfriend/girlfriend relationship between thirty-two year old, Texas Longhorns shortstop Beau Beckett, and twenty-seven year old, yoga instructor Piper Rhodes. Beau Beckett is having one of the best seasons of his career. At the end of his contract, with free agency on the line, Beau might have his pick of any team in the league but Beau’s reputation off the field is another matter entirely, and his actions have threatened his future as a major league star. In an effort to tame his reputation, Beau asks Texas Longhorns yoga instructor Piper Rhodes to pretend to be his girlfriend, a woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. What ensues is the building romance and relationship Piper and Beau, and the potential fall out as both of their careers are taking off, in opposite directions. Piper Rhodes is desperate to start her own on-line app, an app for which she is struggling for money. When the bank refuses her final application, Piper battles between head and heart until Beau Beckett makes her an offer she cannot refuse. As their ‘pretend’ relationship takes hold, hearts will be broken when Beau is offered the a multi-million dollar contract in Seattle, while Piper is offered her own spot on national TV. The relationship between Piper and Beau begins as a fake arrangement, one in which both will benefit from their fabricated lies. Beau is desperate to clean up his reputation, and Piper struggles to fund the app that she hopes to make her a star. With both having issues of trust, neither one is willing to commit to forever, at the very least for the foreseeable future. As Piper and Beau continue their ruse, neither one expected to fall in love. The $ex scene are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The first few pages gives an idea of where Beau is at, and suffice to say he's all about the good times. Piper is the Longhorn's yoga instructor who is career minded and driven. She wants to head a fitness and wellbeing juggernaut. Romantic liaisons have no place in that plan. When Beau's image takes a battering and needs a little polishing, Piper presents Beau with a business opportunity that might work for both of them after he makes a suggestive comment to her partially in jest. Piper will pretend to be in a relationship with Beau, and Beau will invest in Piper's app development. Neither expect to enjoy each other's company, and neither expect they share some similar life experiences, which give them some shared emotional currency. The question throughout is how this is going to end and whose heart is going to be broken. Firstly, getting past the payment being offered for services rendered .... the fake relationship trope often has a type of currency or need being met somehow by one of the participants. The payment in this book is presented as something Piper has freely negotiating, that is, she is getting what she needs out of the agreement. Piper is a strong character, focused, driven, and very clear about the direction she wants her life to go. Professionally one wonders about continuing to be the yoga instructor for the team when she's "involved' with one of the star players - but anything is possible in a romance novel, right? What was great about this was the intensity of Beau's feelings, his relationship with another character in the book, and the premise of having to show one "face" to the world, whilst you're growing into something else. There was a degree of macho masculinity in a couple of scenes, but the dialogue around them gave Beau a depth lacking in his earlier persona. This is the fifth book in the Dallas Longhorn Series, I've read the first of this series and missed a couple I'll need to go back and read. I especially loved the ending in this one but won't give any spoilers as to the reason why.

It reminds me of how much I love this author and all her stories.

This is a shorter read, but I didn't feel like Beau and Piper's story was rushed. These two had some great chemistry from the beginning. I do think their fake dating could have gone on a bit longer -- I think it would have been fun to see them have a bit more of that blurry line of fake vs real drawn out, because that's one of my favourite aspects in stories like these. Hit and Run is a book you can pick up in a reading slump and finish in one sitting. I think fans of Elle Kennedy's Off Campus & Briar U series would love this! Especially those that are looking for that sporty vibe, but maybe looking for something a little older (Piper is 26, Beau is 32). Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with the ebook. My review is my own honest thoughts!

When Beau's agent (Aerin from Moon Shot , of course!) suggests he either start living the life of a monk or (she's joking--or is she?) getting himself a pretend girlfriend to reassure sponsors and prospective teams, he's resistant at first. But he's been flirting shamelessly with Piper ever since she started leading the team through regular yoga sessions, and he's soon making her a deal she can't refuse... We *all* know where this is going, yes? Funny how the main characters of fake relationship romances never do... ;) Long story short: I really enjoyed Piper and Beau's story--it was a read-in-one-day fun, sweet, and sexy book! They're clearly made for each other--even if it takes them most of the book to figure it out--and my only complaints are 1) I loved Beau's grandpa! I could have used three times as many scenes with him and 2) I wasn't ready for this book to end! Was just a teensy bit more of Piper and Beau enjoying their HEA too much to ask for? Sigh... ;) (This book inspired a conversation at work about whether or not fake relationships ever happen IRL, except maybe with celebrity co-stars trying to build up publicity for their latest project(s). As much of a fan as I am of them in my reading material, we both agreed that we're highly skeptical that they're even a quarter as common as they tend to be in my reading material. If your experience is different, we're all ears! Set us straight!) For fans of the series, we see a lot of Beau's teammates here, as well as a (in-story as well as a separate excerpt) teaser for book six ( Scoring Position ) plus a sneak peek at the after-the-HEA for a favorite couple (Abby and Jake--and there'd better be a bonus short covering what happens to them after, Tara Wyatt!) There's even a tiny little Prescotts crossover in there is you're paying attention. If this is your first visit to the Dallas Longhorns dressing room, though, no worries--this would work as a standalone too. But you're honestly going to love this group of players, so don't blame me when you end up binging the whole series. Or go ahead and blame me. I can handle it ;) Rating: 4 stars / A- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is book five in The Dallas Longhorns Series and it is Piper and Beau's story and omg it is an emotional and a must read. Beau played for the Dallas Longhorns he was also a player that only did one night with with no commitment, no feelings and definitely no relationships as Baseball was his life and what he did best. Piper is a yoga teacher and she was working with the Dallas Longhorns player's keeping them supple and fit which reduces injuries and she also did online video's and podcasts as she wanted to build and have her own business in fitness and nutrition but that would take money which she didn't have at the moment but she was determined to eventually succeed. When Beau's reputation starts to effect his career his agent suggests that he lives like a Mobi or get a fake girlfriend and that is where Piper came in and she agreed to be his fake girlfriend and Beau will give her the money to start her business so they both agree to go for it and hopefully it will work benefiting both of them. The connection and chemistry between them is so strong that you can feel it sizzling of the pages of this book and there past is what gives them a stronger connection and they are both so vulnerable in there own way but have so much baggage but when feelings start to get involved will they give in to it or will there walls go even higher so they don't get hurt especially as Beau is possibly leaving to go to a new town and club only time will tell what the outcome will be. I absolutely loved this book and it is definitely my favourite book of this series even though I have loved every single book. Tara Wyatt is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and on the edge of their seats and her books are so addictive that you can't put them down and have to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her and you will not be disappointed as every one of her books takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this Amazing and Emotional Book.

Beau sets up 5 dating rules that basically involve no feelings and no commitment. Will Beau and Piper’s relationship become more than just pretend and what will happen when Beau is offered a trade to another town’s team? I loved this story where 2 people focused on their careers come together in a fake relationship. The author did a fantastic job explaining how bad family experiences were still affecting their lives. Beau had been hurt as a child when his mother deserted him and he was afraid that there was something wrong with him because she didn’t want him so he made baseball his life and wanted no committed relationships. Piper used fitness as her escape from the complaints from her single mom. They both had to decide if they were willing to go beyond a fake relationship and commit to another person. This was a fantastic story and I highly recommend it. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

That is until hunky Dallas Longhorn's shortstop Beau Beckett makes her an offer that she can't really refuse... play the part of his girlfriend to appease the media and league and he'll help her get closer to making her dream a reality. It sounds easy enough... that is until she starts to fall for the man that doesn't do love! Between the pages of Hit and Run you will meet two people who have all but given up on love, but little do they know love hasn't given up on them. When Beau proposes a faux romance that will mutually benefit both of them, and get Piper closer to her dream she eagerly agrees. Not falling for the man that makes her heart skip a beat on a regular basis seems easy enough, right? Wrong... so very wrong! When Piper agreed to play his girlfriend she thought not falling for him would be an easy task because he doesn't do love or relationships and she doesn't have room for one in her life. But she seem to overlook the part about her having a mad crush on him. Watching these two try to keep their distance behind closed doors was not only entertaining, but a little torturous too. It was evident that they would be good together, but it took some serious convincing on both their parts to get closer to that happily ever after! I loved watching this faux romance turn into something a little more real and a lot like a forever kind of thing. It's well penned words took me on a very enjoyable and heart-squeezing escape! Highly recommend!! I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Hit and Run is quite a sweet romance between Piper and Beau. They both have a lot of baggage from their childhood and think that the last thing that they want is a relationship. When they start to pretend to be in a relationship, in order to repair Beau's reputation, it soon becomes clear that there's nothing fake about their feelings for one another.
