An impressive epic read! In his debut novel, Burns clearly takes his place as a gifted storyteller weaving a world of mystery, grandeur, danger, and adventure all in a historical fiction setting with intriguing elements of fantasy. The tone changes while world building continues as the reader is taken into the backstory of Aeroch and his relationship with Bahira. All the while hinting at a much greater mystery than any of the characters can imagine. A story to get lost in :)

A must-read! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was proven wrong. G.R. Burns gives you so much hope during the journeys of his characters and yet takes it away with new and exciting plot twists. I really enjoyed the book- it wasn't just a 'one mans' adventure but had both strong female characters (Bahira & Eli'ssa) and many strong male characters. The chapters keep you on your toes bouncing back and forth between adventures, cities, and people. The large 'Ancient World A must-read! The large 'Ancient World' he created is full of history, mythical creatures, 'magic', Gods, 'pirates', and impending evil. Excited for the 2nd and 3rd books.

I really enjoyed this book. Though it was a little hard to understand at times due to the word choice, the characters were entertaining and the story was gripping. It was easy to imagine yourself in the character's shoes, feel what they were feeling, and see what they were seeing. You could picture the entire book happening in vivid detail, even though there were no illustrations to reference with, and the amount of imagination used was incredible, creating beautiful scenes to be amazed by. Bloodline of Kings, Days of Our Past by Greg Burns is a book filled with wisdom. The main character, Areoch, grows into a man by the wisdom of Meshek. Days of Our Past has twists and turns that kept me reading all night long. Burns is an incredible author who creates a world where you can lose yourself inside. Areoch and Bahria are believable characters and you find yourself rooting for them to win.

Bloodline of Kings, by G.R. Burns, is a book full of intense, heart-racing action, laugh out loud witty banter, and unexpected events. I found myself reading late into the night, unable to close the book. G.R. Burns is an amazing author and I can't wait to read Bloodline of Kings Volume II, An Ancient Prince. A very exciting historical novel that I couldn't put down! I recognized some part of the story as reflecting old epics from Mesopotamia, which was cool to hear those in a non-boring way. I normally can tell how a book will end... but I have no idea. Already can't wait for the next one! A very exciting historical novel that I couldn't put down! My kids loved this book (middle school) after getting it recommended as an early release, and then I picked it up... Definitely a good read.
