It ends so abruptly that it's a tossup between very poor pacing or surprise cancellation. think think Definitely poor planning. Tease'y 'The End...?' aside, the only surprise will be if anyone remembers this in a year, yet alone greenlights more issues. (view spoiler)[A surprise pregnancy (hide spoiler)] might be one of the dumbest tropes ever, and especially stupid and out of place in this pirate story. And you still agreed to the duel! Dumb. The first volume had so much promise and intrigue that I was really excited for volume two. Instead, it turned out to be lacklustre, cliched and rushed. Holy hell this pace was rocket speed and it didn't leave any room for growth. Just action. It really made this book hard to enjoy. Arrogant selfish, irresponsible...just a carbon copy of a gender swapped dude bro at times. My biggest problem though was the 'surprise I'm pregnant' arc. It really soured this book for me. It's 2022. Did we really need that in this book? No. I doubt i'll continue reading this series if there is more.

The first volume had me feeling lukwarm, but I thought there were some interesting set-ups, and hey, it's the kick off a series! Surely it will pick up... Nope. The art and writing kept feeling like a series of short cuts... I forgot everyone's name but Anne's and Mary's, characters were not drawn consistently, there's next to no plot. Most of the "volume" is just bonus material of all the art you've already seen, but without the color layers. Most of the "volume" is just bonus material of all the art you've already seen, but without the color layers. It's a shame, the premise of a revenge-driven Anne Bonny, of Jack Rackham realizing too late what he's done, of just having a pirate-themed, adult action/adventure comic...well. It was all too good to be true.

Volume 2 continues (and most likely finishes) the story of pirate lady Anne Bonny. Still on the run from Jack Rackham, our crew of fearsome lady pirates undergo typical pirate stuff, before revealing that Anne is pregnant with Jack's baby. We do end with a happy ending (Anne and Mary raising the baby together on a ship) but the unique feeling I felt reading the first Volume is gone with this one. The art and flow of the story still makes this a good read, just not fantastic. Recommend, but with y Volume 2 continues (and most likely finishes) the story of pirate lady Anne Bonny. Unfortunately, volume 2 didn't hold me the way the first volume did. The abrupt art style change (where Mary goes from being fairly gender ambiguous to Generic Image House Style Woman) really threw me off, as did the plotting, which really felt rushed and working within cliches instead of bursting them apart. Not sure what went wrong from arc to arc, but it just didn't work this time around for me at all. Unfortunately, volume 2 didn't hold me the way the first volume did. While the first volume wasn't brillant it told an interesting story and was a promising start. ... but this one was all over the place. No character development and the story was rushed. 3.5 The art continues to be dramatic and beautiful. However, the story did feel lacking. There was a lot of jumping around and big time gaps that could have definitely been fleshed out way more. Otherwise, a very fast read, but good.

Really fun and exciting story. I’m always a sucker for pirates … especially women pirates! Absolutely loved the art.

Again, like the first volume, this was fun, even with my historical brain screaming at times. That's all I'll really say. Again, like the first volume, this was fun, even with my historical brain screaming at times. That's all I'll really say.

I love the concept of this series. Unfortunately the execution wasn't all I hoped for. I love the concept of this series. Unfortunately the execution wasn't all I hoped for.
