Wyatt is the complete opposite of Andie in many ways and to most people, he seems like a womanizer with zero ambition. But Andie has always had a crush on Wyatt, ever since they were kids. She thought Wyatt didn’t feel the same, but when in reality, he never acted on anything because of a promise to her brother. When they finally give in to their romantic feelings, Andie & Wyatt keep their relationship a secret, but secrets can’t stay hidden forever and they’ll have to decide if what they have is worth risking Wyatt & Josh’s friendship. My Cone and Only by Susannah Nix is book 1 in the King Family series. This was a cute & steamy brother’s best friend romance with a lot of small town charm. Don’t let this cover fool you—this romance heats up quick! I liked Andie & Wyatt’s romance a lot, so you’re probably wondering why I didn’t rate it higher. It’s clear this book is a spin-off of another series, which I didn’t read, so there is heaps of side characters and tons of side plots that truly took away from the central romance. If that was toned down a bit, I would’ve enjoyed this more. 3.5/5 stars.

Such a sweet romance read! I loved this friends-to-lover/brother’s best friend trope. The relationship between Wyatt and Andie was very well written and there was just the right amount of steam and drama. I also love the play on words with the title. This is the first book I’ve read by the author and I’m excited to pick up her previous and her next one! Thanks to NetGalley and Susanne Nix for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion!

I struggle sometimes with the brother's best friend trope. The overbearing sibling is a conflict that never feels forbidden enough for me. But I really liked this! With the addition of music, forced-proximity home renovations, and a little family mystery, there was a lot of fun elements added to the plot that kept me invested. Secretly pining after each other for years, the chemistry between Wyatt and Andie was perfectly clear from the start ... thanks to that electric on-page dance sequence! Flaky and known for his carefree lifestyle, Wyatt often underestimated his strengths. Andie was the stability he needed to push him towards his dreams. I simply adored the encouragement she provided him. This was sweet, steamy, and an overall great time. And I love the central connection of the characters through a family owned creamery. I'm looking forward to book two!

When we first met them in Elementary Romantic Calculus , I was giddy with excitement at the possibilities of what their relationship would be like. They were supporting characters to Mia and Josh’s relationship, but I could tell right there that it was so much more. And with My Cone and Only, we got an absolute treat (pun intended). You are not ready for this wonderful start to a brand new series by Susannah Nix, because I wasn’t and I was all up in my feels through this book. “You’re my wish come true.” Andie and Wyatt have known each other most of their lives and for most of that time they’ve been secretly in love with each other. Wyatt King might be the son of the most famous family in Crowder, Texas; but he’s never wanted anything to do with the family business. That’s right, Wyatt comes from an ice cream family and he hates the creamy goodness. Wyatt is also best friends with Andie’s older brother, Josh, and because of that relationship he’s never made a move on Andie. Even though he’s been in love with her since he was 17, Wyatt has held his feelings inside. Instead, he’s stood back and watched her as discreetly as possible and the whole time, he’s flirted with every other woman in town. He’s lived a very promiscuous life, but Wyatt isn’t ashamed of it. He’s been putting on an act for most of the world, because he’s always been considered that guy and Wyatt plays it up. As the guy who can fix almost anything, Wyatt also performs cover songs with this band from high school. In short, Wyatt is the kind of guy that everyone would love from the moment they meet him. Including Andie. On the other side, Andie Lockhart is a sassy, feisty, tough as nails woman. She’s never shied away from speaking her feelings and she’s not subtle. Andie is officially a new book girlfriend, because she was so damn amazing. I wanted to climb into her pocket and live there forever. While Andie is seen by everyone as a tough woman, she’s actually wearing her heart on her sleeve and she gets soft and mushy when it comes to Wyatt. She’s loved Wyatt for as long as she has known what love is, but Andie has never thought about making a move because of the life that Wyatt leads and she believes she’d never fit in there. If you’ve read Elementary Romantic Calculus, then you know that Andie is full of random facts. She can spout things about almost anything in the world and she doesn’t even care that it’s random, because her brain is so full. She’s so incredible, guys. Capable, funny, sassy, gorgeous, badass are just a few of the words I’d use to describe Andie. “I’d always had an easy time keeping sex purely physical. The armor I’d constructed to avoid catching feelings had been shored up by years of practice. But Andie had burned it all away, exposing something raw and incomplete inside me.” And their relationship? SO GOOD. They’ve got years of love for each other that’s propelling their entire story and that only makes it that much more delicious. What starts as Wyatt helping Andie fix up her house after she got a notice about her house being torn down for a development, turns into them finally admitting their feelings for each other. I mean, I would have been okay waiting forever for them to kiss and touch as long as Wyatt kept wooing Andie with dances and showing up whenever she calls. But let’s be honest, being put out of my misery was a great feeling. There’s just so much great chemistry and even when Wyatt was being an idiot, I loved their relationship. For those who have read the Chemistry Lessons series might be surprised that this is an open-door romance, so there’s multiple sex scenes and they are SO HOT. Wyatt and Andie’s chemistry translates from the dance floor and their lifelong friendship to bed. Their bodies recognise each other’s and they fit so perfectly together. “The parts I loved most were the quiet, comfortable moments we were together. Having coffee in the mornings before we started our days, playing my guitar for her after dinner while she worked on those funny needlepoints she did, or cuddling in bed after we’d screwed each other’s brains out.” Like Wyatt, what I loved most about their relationship wasn’t the sex, it was the comfort level they have with each other. Wyatt and Andie have all this history and they know each other in every way, so even just cooking together or getting a drink or talking is perfect. The moments when Wyatt plays his music for Andie while they’re on the couch is so beautiful. The way he just simply fits into her life and her daily routine makes your heart sing. That’s the proof of how deep the love is and how desperately Wyatt craves that kind of normalcy in a relationship, and how much Andie wants to share with the only man she’s ever really loved. They support each other, lift the other up and provide the perfect balance that they crave. My Cone and Only is low on angst, but this best friend’s sister, forbidden love story is one that I loved wholly. I’d also like to point out how much I love the names of all the books in the series, so much love for the ice cream puns. I also cannot wait for Tanner and Lucy, because whatever we got of them in this book made me desperate for more! Thanks to Susannah Nix for generously providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Read more of my reviews on anna reads here

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I'll have a full review soon(ish) but for now, I just have to say I adored this book. Wyatt and Andie were wonderful. Oh, the pining! The dancing! The heat! I loved all of it. Sure things got a little messy and I wanted to shake some sense into Wyatt, but it was on-brand for him. Plenty of swoons in this one. This book was so good. I love friends-to-lovers, and this was such a great take on that trope. Wyatt and Andie have had feelings for each other since high school, but neither knows about the other. And Wyatt won't ever let on because Andie is his best friend's little sister. But really, their whole relationship shows chemistry and intimacy and trust with all their friends seeing how perfect they are for each other. There's a lot going on beyond them too, as we get to meet Wyatt's extended family. He has many step and half brothers, and his family is well known as the owners of the major employer in their small Texas town. It took a bit for me to follow all the relationships. Once I did, I could see how well this story will set up an ongoing series with lots of potential for drama. This was my first book by Susannah Nix. I was only a few chapters in before realizing it followed the last of her Chemistry Lessons series. So I fully expect to get and read all of those soon. And I will be eagerly anticipating the next in the King Family series. Thank you to Haver Street Press, Susannah Nix and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. Nix starts this new series off with a bang—somewhat literally, given this book may be her steamiest yet. How I got the idea that he was just a womanizer, but then I read him and I was speechless, he was feeling so lonely, broken and was such a good man. He took bad decisions, but he was good. If we talk about Andie I will just say that I love independent, strong, and brilliant heroines. That is how she is. I enjoyed their moments as friends, but I loved them as a couple. But I couldn’t stop torturing myself.  I couldn’t stay away from her.  Couldn’t stop thinking about her and craving her attention.  Couldn’t resist imagining how it’d feel to tangle my fingers in her sleek, brown ponytail and tug her head back for a kiss.  Couldn’t help the ache I felt every time I laid eyes on her.’ My Cone and Only, the first book of author Susannah Nix’s brand new series, was - simply put - an arousing, beautifully chaotic mix of unrequited feelings, weighty obligations, concrete promises, denied desire and once-in-a-lifetime-love.  A barrage of expectations and complications, woven together beautifully with stirring dialogue and bewitching characters.      On the surface, it may appear to be a simple ‘older brother’s best friend’ romance trope.  However, writer Susannah Nix has crafted an elaborate and decidedly delicious connection between Wyatt and Andie, elevating their romance story from your typical trope, to something more daring, dazzling and provoking.   The sexual tension was palpable, a tangible thing, dancing along each chapter, infusing their shared past and present with something magnificent.  Add in the casual touches, the stuttered breaths, the almost kisses and the shared wishes - it all created an incendiary element to an already crackling relationship between our hero and heroine, it's sensual, carnal, brazen and deeply romantic.  Our heroine, Andie was absolutely magnificent.  Someone I could connect with and love almost instantaneously.  She was loyal, so much fun, cheeky and joyful, the personification of friendship, love and devotion.  I loved that she was confident in who she was, on the outside and on the inside.  She was strong and self-assured yet she had one giant weakness - her covert feelings for her brother’s best friend.  I really enjoyed immersing myself in Andie’s shoes.  Watching her get everything she had ever wanted, feel the things she was feeling, the joy, elation, and uncertainty, the pain and heartbreak, the ramifications and fallout and of course obtaining her happy-ever-after.    ‘I never should have let myself love you. Her words haunted me.  They kept tumbling around in my head, leaving painful cuts everywhere they touched.’ Wyatt, our hero, was a heartrending masterpiece.  A man who exuded confidence (borderline arrogance) and charm, who wooed and wowed the female population in droves but who harboured some pretty intense and secretive feelings of his own.  Secretive ambitions about his career and his love life.  There were so many layers to his character it was like playing pass the parcel.  The moment the music stopped, another sheet of wrapping paper was torn away and a new, decisively alluring element to his personality was revealed.  He was an absolute sweetheart.  A dirty talking, very talented, sweetheart.  And when he let himself love, he loved hard and all in.            If you’re in the market for an utterly resplendent, alluring and breathtaking romance, then I’m going to tell you that author Susannah Nix’s brand new release My Cone and Only is the one book that you need in your life, to bring about those wonderful, chaotic butterfly feelings in your tummy.  It is the most perfect, arousing and beautifully written summer read.  One of my top reads for the year, guaranteed to bring forth a book hangover,

A huge thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review! Ahh this was such a cute read! The perfect amount of romcom and angsty feels was just enough to keep me reading on and on that I finished this in just a few hours! The spicy scenes had the perfect amount of steam as well! I loved that I was swooning and laughing one moment then tearing up the next especially with the pressure of them keeping their relationship a secret so that they won’t disappoint the person they both love (Andie’s brother)! I loved the angst they had to do through and all the cuteness in their making up towards the end! I also loved their characters individually with Andie being such a badass with an interesting job you don’t usually see in romance novels and with Wyatt being an up and coming vocalist and song writer. I really enjoyed the family dynamics and friendships in this! The King family was the most interesting and from what I’ve read of Wyatt’s siblings, I’m so intrigued and excited for their books! (I can’t wait for Tanner’s next but I’m on the look out for Ryan or Brady’s book the most because I love band members and firemen!) I’m also ready for all the ice cream puns on the titles! Overall, this was such a sweet, adorable read with a side of angst! Perfect for romcom and ice cream lovers! I’m excited for what else the author has in store! (I’ll also be taking my sweet time reading her backlist titles bc I fell in love with this!)

    The Rogue Book Reviews

**ARC received in exchange for an honest, unbiased review** I’ve always enjoyed Susannah Nix’s books, but this new series has brought her writing to a new level! She did not come to play, my friends! She upped her game, giving more connection and a small-town feel that I did not know what to do with…so I gobbled them up like they were delicious ice cream. We go back to Crowder, Texas, the town where Mia (from Elementary Romantic Calculus) found love! Forbidden romance, a tiny bit of intrigue… Did I mention the steam? Because there’s a lot of it 🥵 Also, I’m just going to claim Wyatt for myself right now, mmkay? Talk about a tall, lick of twisty ice cream cone 😋 I said it first! And our heroine, Andie? A smart, independent, scientist not about to take anyone’s shit, thank you very much. In case it isn’t obvious by now, I LOVED this book! A delicious, five🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟, #RogueRecommends summer treat that’ll definitely require an ice cream cone or two 😏

My Cone and Only follows Andi and Wyatt, who couldn't be more opposite, but have both been harboring years-long secret crushes. The only problem? Wyatt can't make a move, because Andi is his best friend's sister. Andi sees him for who he truly is, not the bad boy facade he puts out in public. His super complicated family was incredibly intriguing and there's a reason why he acts the way he does. This super steamy, small town romance is the first book in the King Family series. I was totally enamored with the King family story and cannot wait to read more in the series. The next book, which features Lucy and Tanner, comes out January 2022. This is my first Susannah Nix book and it certainly won't be my last! I'm excited to dig into her backlist and will definitely be reading more of this series. MY CONE AND ONLY is available now at all retailers. A special thanks to the author for the gifted copy.

I was thrilled to revisit this small town. Having already met the couple in the previous book made it so familiar and comforting. I’m not the biggest fan of the brother’s best friend trope but when one of my favourite authors give it a try and combine it with RomCom I could not pass. I’m happy to say she kicked it out of the park. All my issues were properly addressed and I felt so seen. Being thoroughly entertained is also working wonders. Even if this is supposedly a RomCom it made me emotional in so many ways. I’m totally in love with the heroine, she’s both badass and vulnerable in equal measure and so supportive of the ones she loves. Not very happy to ask for help must be her worst trait. The hero is a charming chicken, closed off and fake. I would have liked to give him a kick in the butt at one point. Luckily he’s also a wonderful and loving, totally devoted guy you can’t help but love. I love this new series, the large family of guys just waiting for the right girl and I can’t wait for the next one.

I requested an arc of My Cone and Only because of the adorable cover and cute synopsis! This is not only my favorite book of the summer, it's the best I've read in 2021! Susannah Nix started this new series off with a bang, and has left me yearning for the next book! He nudged his way all the way to the top with not only his charm, but his soft, squishy, vulnerable side. I absolutely loved his story and all the ways he opened himself up throughout the story. The King family is a riot. I'm already amped up and ready for more! Five absolutely stunning stars; highly recommend!!

Susannah Nix continues to outdo herself with each book! I was really looking forward to Wyatt and Andie's romance after meeting them in a previous book. They had great banter and their chemistry was off the charts from the very beginning. It was everything I hoped for and more with a small town, mutual pining, and a big family. I am already planning to reread it when the next book comes out! Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review. Susannah Nix continues to outdo herself with each book! A definite reread book for me! I absolutely LOVED this book. It was one that I didn’t want to put down, but didn’t want it to end. It’s not easy being in love with your brother’s best friend, but Susannah tells the story wonderfully. Andie and Wyatt’s love story was wonderful, with the perfect amount of everything! Wow! First book by this author and I was HOOKED from the very beginning! Wyatt and Andie are SO easy to love and root for. The pining and the longing turns into passion and tenderness and it truly made my heart SOAR. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!

    Jessica - How Jessica Reads

Ehhhhh. Normally I love Susannah Nix, but “You can’t date my little sister” is my least favorite trope. I was debating between 2 and 3 stars, but the epilogue is GOLD. (The nipple conversation? 🤣🤣🤣) So it got a last minute bump.

This is the kind of romance I have been needing. Older brother’s best friend Wyatt and the girl next door Andie are practically perfect in every way for each other and we get to go in this wonderful journey to see them find their happily ever after. I just cannot wait to read more books in this world. Thank you so much for letting me read this.
