Archies the comic series for me is an old love and old love is like old wine, which tastes better with age. I discovered Archie's very early in my life in the weekly magazine that came bundled with the newspaper every Sunday. I discovered Archie's very early in my life in the weekly magazine that came bundled with the newspaper every Sunday. Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Popeye, Peanuts and Dennis the Menace were the other comic characters whom I discovered over the years in the same newspaper. In 1987-88 I came to know that the Archie's Digest/Double digest was available in our town. Being from a conservative small town, it took me 2 more years, the year of 1990 to be precise to convince the uncle who runs the stand even today (and who knew my family) that I was of age to read the contents in the comic. 32 years later the reminiscence literally drowns me in laughter which I have shared with my family and friends. Those were different times with practically the entire town being your extended family and information of any prank or mistake that you did reached home before you. I found the cost of the books quite exorbitant for a school student but still scrounged pocket money to purchase them. The books gave me great pleasure because I was able to share them with all my friends who enjoyed them more than me. The book has a romantic start with Betty who has a habit of keeping track of and mentioning every type of minor anniversary, with Archie, a quaint start to this anniversary issue. There are many such stories as is common in most of the Archie series. The art work here is inconsistent due to the various ages of the Archie's including the stories from early generations. This volume is more conservative and sticks to the basic storyline of the Archie's. I Enjoyed the volume a lot and recommend it for the series fans.
