Bloody brilliant and my favourite one yet. *** Well, Lane absolutely knocks this one out of the park, it's a joy from start to finish, it's hilarious, Asher might just be the geekiest geek to have ever geeked but he's also brilliantly fierce, a perfectionist, a wonderful friend and seriously sexy with his freak on! Blake made my heart hurt at how much of himself he'd been hiding away. I loved that he was starting to take baby steps to claiming his authentic life when his path crossed with Asher's and that it just reinforced his decision to come out and move onward. I loved the pair of them together, they were on fire, the smexy times in this are some of the hottest Lane's penned imho phew, someone turn the fan on hot! Asher is snarky, he's smart, he's a certified genius and he's utterly self-aware of all his quirks and foibles and how he's sometimes over-driven and doesn't ever step off the drive for perfection. When you find out why he's like he is, to some extent anyway, it will make you want to fight for him and make sure that Blake appreciates just what a treasure he's found. Thankfully Blake's a good egg too and he knows he wants to keep Asher and be everything for him. They're just 😍😍😍😍😍 as a pairing. This one is very close to being my favourite Lane book ever! It just had me smiling so much my face hurt 😁 If you're looking for a read that will bring sunshine into your day, then grab this one quick. #ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review

The day Asher has his first app hookup, he gives himself a low grade. He feels as if he's failed, particularly when he realizes why his hookup looks so familiar. Blake may not be a genius like Asher, but he's damn smart. He teaches math and coaches girls' lacrosse at a conservative high school. But Blake isn't happy, not really. He's hidden his bisexuality for years and wants to stop lying. Asher agrees to help Blake and writes him a coming-out script. But things don't go exactly as planned when the two men become friends, and then something (much) more. What I loved: - mild enemies-to-lovers (followed by friends-to-lovers) - supportive family and friends (although I did kind of hate oblivious, obnoxious Katie) - hot (and I mean HAWT!!) sex - epilogue with HEA (so f-in sweet, I have heart eyes) - realistic dialogue (just a bit of banter but mostly true-to-life conversations) - dual POV (which, frankly, is a MUST!!) This is my favorite book in this series thus far. I need more nerds and jocks, please.

my first two days at uni have wiped me the tf out so y’all are getting minimal effort with this review. was this kinda boring?... yes. but were Asher and Blake deliriously cute?? hell yes. the plot wasn’t anything special, but Blake and Asher were so sweet and easy to root for. i wanted to give this four bcos i did like them as a couple, but there was literally zero plot lol. at least minimal brain cells are needed to read this. so George and Aidan still reign supreme for me😌

The chemistry is explosive but both agree to stick to the rules and say goodbye. However, life doesn't always work according to plan, and Asher soon finds himself crossing paths with lacrosse coach Blake. What they both can’t deny is their combustible attraction, and Blake seizes the opportunity to embrace his hidden bisexual side, enlisting Asher’s help in coming out. What ensues is a regimented plan to ease Blake into owning his truth as they agree to keep things professional and just friends. Of course, that’s not gonna last long as you well know. What works for me in this series is the juxtaposition of complete opposites. The nerdy character is a genius and not without his peculiarities that only matter to him. He’s totally out of his element when he comes face to face with his wet dream and completely unable to say no when asked to help the out of his league jock that does not follow the stereotype. In turn, the presumed uber straight alpha is utterly charmed by his counterpart and takes quirks and foibles in effortless laid back wonderful stride. Both Asher and Blake find a groove as they smoothly mesh their lives, and it’s only natural that they’d find in the other just what they need. Though not my favorite of the series, this still made me smile and snort with humor as Hayes brings the easy breezy sexy romance with nary a hint of angst with her latest installment. This was all feel good with an equally consistent narration from Alexander Cendese to boot! Enjoy!

They all thought his name was Jake because Topher misheard his name and Blake just didn't correct him. He seemed like a jerk, but really he's just a bisexual jock who is pretty closeted and has had a hard time coming to accept his bisexuality. See, Asher is horny enough to make a profile on a hook up app, and he matches with Blake. It's supposed to be just sex, which Asher is fine with, and Blake isn't ready to come out so it can't be more than sex. But Blake is tired of being in the closet and wants to come out, and wants advice on how to do so. He calls Asher again for that advice. Asher is out and confident in being out, and Blake thinks he can help. Also, honestly, he just wants to see Asher again. Asher wants to see him too. Only the second time they meet, Asher recognizes him as "Jake" and gets mad and leaves in a huff, but Blake runs after him and asks him to let him explain....and then that leads to one thing after another... And Asher tells himself they can only be friends, that he's betraying Topher's trust or something like that by hooking up with his old hook up. (Which, he's not, but Asher insists.) This was great. These two had wonderful chemistry, and their relationship build up was so well done. I loved all their little conversations and reading about them really forming that connection, and also when they can't take it anymore and go back to more. There was a smudge of angst near the end, but it was easily handled and wasn't drawn out for any melodramatic effect or anything. My only tiny niggle would really be when, out of nowhere, we learn that (view spoiler)[Asher's younger brother died when he was 2 and Asher was 3. He doesn't remember him but we learn WHY he tries to be so perfect (hide spoiler)] and it just felt out of nowhere, like this bomb was landed on us. It would be fine if it was just Blake finding out for the first time, but we just found out too when Asher tells him, and so matter-of-factly too, and I was sitting there like "wtf?? holy shit!" I just think that revelation could have been handled better, like maybe having Asher think about it maybe once before he talks about it. Even though he (view spoiler)[doesn't remember his brother specifically (hide spoiler)] , it still was a traumatic event and it affected his mother greatly, and caused his father to leave. Like this is heavy shit, and it was just...kinda dropped on us and then barely even really mentioned after it. I just don't think this was given the gravitas it deserved. But other than that, I adored this, and I adored these two together. This was quite a delightful read. Can't wait to read the next book. I wonder if it'll be Tommy or Holden who is next....and if Ezra, Blake's best friend, will be one of their LI's. He's gotta be. Also there was a hot single dad mentioned, so I bet he's gonna be another LI. We just don't know who will be whose yet. Definitely recommend this, it was great. Two thumbs up from me!

He’s a nerd just like his roommates and I loved that aspect in Topher and George from the previous books in this series but Asher felt almost forced to me. For being so intelligent he also seemed so sheltered about everyday things. His actions, especially during and about sex, never matched up in my head with him as a character. He felt too stiff and even his interactions with his mom seemed like transactions. I liked Blake well enough but I never became invested in his story. He felt like he was living a lie because no one knew he was bi. That’s understandable and I liked how he wanted to change that but it seemed as though he built it up so much in his head that when he did come out no one was surprised or made a big deal about it. I liked how supportive his friends and family were but for as much as he thought it was almost impossible to come out their reactions were glossed over. These two never had chemistry to me. I am sure I’ll be the odd man out here with my opinion but I tried so hard to get into the story and it never happened for me. The jock and the nerd were done in the first book with Topher and Simon so I felt like nothing was new here. I am very disappointed that I didn’t like this more. It’s a cute story and it is definitely a feel good story I just wasn’t feeling much while reading it. **ARC provided in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own**

Firstly, I'm so mad I dived right in. I really wish I would have waited just a little longer. Dammit. But I enjoyed it so much. Anyway: Asher and Blake are precious together. Right from the start they have great chemistry and this back and forth that made me have a stupid goofy smile on my face almost the whole way through. Asher simultaneously amused me and punched me right in the feelings. Because honestly I got him on a level with the whole personal karma thing. Trying to balance that feeling of responsibility. But his adorkable behaviour also made me smile so much (oh my god. The coffee. I died.) Blake reaching a point of being tired of hiding his bisexuality but not exactly knowing how to unravel who he is and who he's worried people think he is was such an important part to the story and how Blake and Asher navigate their relationship. The *moment* with Asher & his mom. Whew. I cried. But also the guilt Asher carried for a lot of things even where Topher was concerned broke my heart. Mostly though it's pure joy. Blake & Asher are absolute joy together. The way they fall into each other, the sweetness, the steam, the in between, ugh I love them together so much. My face hurts from smiling so damn much. My only issue if even that is that the moment of conflict, the lead up to the grovel scene (and I looove a moment of grovel. I can't help it lol), Lane Hayes seems to fall into a very samesy scenario. Just an observation. I'm surprised with who the next couple is gonna be. I was kinda like "oh. Ok." Lol. I have no doubt I'll enjoy their book but I was like what about Tommy?! Holden?! (Maybe even a Tommy and Holden book?) Ezra?! But I'm hoping there's more books to come! This series is so good, it's sweet, steamy and fun and romantic all around and I can't get enough!

This was another win in the series with Asher and Blake. I love a sweet opposites attract and this one fit that to perfection. Ash is the quintessential brainiac, but I loved that Blake had a little inner geek in him as well. He wasn't a typical hot jock and that made their pairing even more fun. I loved this. Asher and Blake were a delight. What starts as a one night stand on a hook up app, quickly turns into friendship then love. Blake is tired of lying…to himself and everyone else abut his sexuality. Asher agrees to help come up with a plan to come out. Along the way, shenanigans keep happing, and they realize they are compatible outside the bedroom as well. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, and the second was hot! When I read the snippet for this book at the end of Rules of Play I had a feeling Asher's mystery man would be someone we'd met before and I couldn't for the life of me figure out who it would be. And then, with utter perfection, Ms. Hayes brought back someone I didn't see coming and gave me a redemption story I didn't know I needed. Blake was no baby-bi and he was most definitely not bi-curious, as his app profile suggested. He had been loving him some men for awhile and his talents in the sack made it pretty obvious, but he was still in the closet and the lack of freedom was beginning to suffocate him. Asher really hadn't made a huge impression on me in the first two books. He came across as highly detailed and organized, a lover of lists and agendas and a firm believer in seeing things through, but was very much a background character. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd like a book centered on him because anal retentive people can get annoying really quick and sometimes I get annoyed on behalf of the other person in the relationship. That didn't happen to me with Asher, though. I loved him from start to finish. There was way more to him than his genius mind and OTT idiosyncrasies. I'm starting to really like hookup app love stories. It seems like there are lots of people out there depending on apps to find who/whatever they're looking for at the time, so it's nice to read stories (although fictional) where it works out and results in something beautiful. I loved how it was handled in this book and that it kind of flipped the script (ha!) by allowing the two men to find out they were compatible sexually before knowing they were compatible in other ways too. That initial sexual compatibility hung over their heads the entire time they tried to forge a friends-only relationship and added a super fun layer of tension that made the pages easy to turn. And damn do those nerds know how to get down! The sexy times in this book were so frenzied and intense that I read them like I was reading about a harrowing escape in an action/adventure novel. I can't wait to read more in this series and basically anything else Lane Hayes writes. If you don't subscribe to her newsletter, you should! She has been sending out fun extras about George and Aiden and I'm hoping we'll get the same for Asher and Blake too!

And got to know his complex fears and insecurities about facing and owning his truth and coming out as bi. His complexity of thoughts and emotions made him a highly relatable character and made him much more endearing than when we first meet him. I ended up empathising with and rooted for him very much every step of the way. The star of the story though, had to be Asher. The snazzily dressed pint sized dynamo with quirks and personality to boot, was like a whirlwind that blew through the book and left quite the impression. He was complex, yet sweet, and his oddities were endearing, and was made more so when we finally get to know why he is such a stickler for perfection. He was also unexpectedly funny, which made all the more lovable. Right off the bat, from the moment he answered that booty call and met up with Blake, the ease and chemsitry between the 2 just blew up and jumped off the pages. And, not to mention, their sexual chemistry was like flames wafting up and leaving me hot and bothered. The writing, like the other 2 books in the series was very decent and flowed great. In this one though, the pacing felt more right and comfortable than the other 2. It was more unhurried, but with purpose, moving the story along flawlessly. And unlike the other 2, which felt like more could have been told, this one was just right and didn't leave me wanting. Glad that I stuck with the series because it actually got better and grew on me more and more with each entry. And as an end note, I sense there is a story somewhere for Blake's best friend Ezra, and I totally won't be mad if there is. In fact I will wait with bated breath.

The Jock Script is the third book in The Script Club series by Lane Hayes. I'm loving these jocks and the geeks they fall for. Asher and Blake meet on a hookup app. No names just one night of fun. Blake is bisexual and not out. He's sick of living a lie and wants Asher's help to come out. Asher knows this is a bad idea, but it's in his nature to help people and once he comes up with the script, he knows he can do this. Blake has never met anyone like Asher. He's smart, sexy, funny and really cares about his students. I just adored this couple! I loved Asher and all his nerdy quirks and Blake and his humor. They are so much fun together! Looking forward to the next one!

I’ll start this off by saying that I usually love Lane Hayes’s books. However, I found this was to be simply okay. Surprisingly, I didn’t connect with the writing this time around. It was probably to do with how Asher came across in his diction and in his actions. He was intelligent, but kind of immature. Blake on the other hand, was completely different. Yet, while I usually go for opposites attract—there was no chemistry between Asher and Blake for me. At least, I didn’t believe there was. In the end, probably not my favorite couple. *ARC provided by Gay Romance Reviews, and I have given my honest and voluntary review.*

Wow this was a little bit of a surprise! I was set on not liking Blake "Jake" based on how he was portrayed in Tophers' book but I think he's my favorite now in this series? And Asher! Omg such a cutie! Loved loved loved this book and now I think I want a reread of them all.... Can't wait for the next one. Wow this was a little bit of a surprise! I love this series and I adore these characters! Asher and Blake are so hot together. Asher cracks me up with how literal he is about everything. I enjoyed how their time together slowly evolved into a relationship with true meaning.

This is a super cute, low angst series I’ve really enjoyed. I think if you’re super stressed and need something uplifting The Script Club might be just the thing. A delight.

Very cute! I really like Asher and Blake. There is nothing earth shattering here. It was however a sweet romance and enjoyable.
