A rollercoaster ride of a wonderful psychological thriller....................... The Guilty Sister by Arianne Richmonde, a psychological thriller with a mind blowing plot. If you’re looking for a psychological thriller to sink your teeth into, Richmonde’s latest suspense-filled novel abounding with red herrings is for you. But what stood out for me in The Guilty Sister was how she’d switched from first-person to third, making it work to a tee. The smooth shift between alternative points of view also gave me the ability to relate to her characters. I might not have liked them all; however, this is something I value highly. The title of the book, a controversy at its best. The cover, fabulous. Firstly, I liked how the author didn’t begin the story at the start. The reader gets Sara’s thoughts in the worst of surroundings, but—she doesn’t exactly let on to the whys and wherefores. I thought words broached were the key. My assumption of what was going to happen was what it was, and I can’t say much more without spoiling the read for you. But the intro sets off a series of events that made me think out loud. Past and present eventually come together—and how this happens is mind-blowing. In the interim, I learnt how one identical twin sister felt about the other, but more important was him. Him being Bradley, the observer...the one who breaks the ice under circumstances that are akin to something that melted my heart. I’ll get back to that later. Yes, his persuasive ways hit my Achille’s heel. But his stance didn’t give me the vibes I was looking for. Why? I have yet to fathom out why he appeared to me to be the perfect match for Sara. Blinking heck, he’s gorgeous, well-established and needs for nothing. Yet all seemed too good to be true. The personality contrasts connecting Cecilia and Sara are exceptionally well done. I worried about her appearance and her reasons, which you’ll have to find out for yourselves. Seeing that they are like chalk and cheese in just about every aspect, my imagination ran riot, as yours will too. What was Cice’s game? How would she react when her sister had found the love of life? And with whom? Is there more than meets the eye? Totally in keeping with the tone of the story, the author kept my interest in her love for four-legged friends. What I also really liked was her descriptive writing. Richmonde paid time to every detail without ever exaggerating. Kudos deserved because repetition is the bane of my reading experience. Ooh. My. Goodness. If one twist reared its head, another was fast on its tail. That said, I have tried to be as evasive as possible not to spoil this read for you, and hope you’ll love it as much as I did. Bravo, Richmonde! ARC kindly received from Bookouture via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh the author calls out all the swanky details of Bradley's appearance - the crazy expensive suit, the watch, his thirst for money yet his loneliness. He quietly watches, borderline stalks Sara until he manages to interact with her and Poppy. Sara has experienced much trauma - unraveled as the plot progresses. Slow build - I couldn't stop thinking about what was the point? Oh the point is revealed. At times it was difficult to continue with this book - it was too slow at times yet worth finishing.

Secrets, secrets, secrets. Most people have at least one, and they sure can be burdens to bear. Most people have at least one, and they sure can be burdens to bear. Secrets often lead to lies, lies lead to betrayals, and betrayal - well, that can lead to all kinds of things. You won’t believe where it leads one woman in this book… Sara is an artist, living in Manhattan and doing illustrations and graphics for book covers. Her job is a passion of hers, as is her love for her paralyzed rescue dog, Poppy Delight. Sara has many acquaintances but not really any close friends, as she grew up in Africa (her parents did medical work in other countries). Since moving to America, she mostly just spends her days working and taking Poppy to Central Park. One day while at the park, a man strikes up a conversation. He is very persistent, meeting her there often, and while she plays it coy for a few weeks, eventually she accepts an invitation to dinner at his house. She doesn’t understand why he’s attracted to her though - she is an artist usually in t-shirts and leggings, she doesn’t use makeup or fuss with her appearance, and she lives in a tiny, cluttered apartment with her handi-capable dog. This gorgeous man, Bradley, lives in a penthouse that overlooks Central Park and has a kitchen twice the size of her apartment. He works on Wall Street, wears designer three-piece suits and keeps his all-white home immaculate without the help of housekeepers. What does he want with her? Part of her insecurity stems from issues with her sister, Cecelia. Identical twins, the two could not be more opposite. Sara is quiet, a bit meek, happy in her routine and life. Cece is outgoing, adventurous, very into her appearance due to being an Instagram influencer, and has the ability to capture the attention of most men. Sara is terrified of Bradley meeting her sister and falling for the “hotter” twin, so the secrets begin… Speaking of secrets, that’s about all you’ll get out of me with this book! Telling any more would ruin the rest, but don’t worry - the author gives you little specks of spoilers the whole way, leaving you second-guessing yourself. I only semi-enjoyed the ending; it was surprising but not mind blowing, much like the rest of the book, thus my four star rating. I don’t even think the last chapter was needed - I think it was to give one more secret away, but it wasn’t necessary and felt like it was just shoved in at the last minute. Still, a very entertaining mystery/thriller that will keep you on your toes! (I’d like to thank Bookouture, Arianne Richmonde and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.)

I have to admit, I kept hearing strains of Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind (in New York)" as I was reading this book. It just gave me that vibe. As I began THE GUILTY SISTER, my first by Arianne Richmonde, I was instantly drawn to Sara who like me her life revolved around her dog, Poppy. I have just recently lost my beloved staffy whom I affectionately nicknamed "Poppy" and even "popsicle" which one of the character, Mrs Scott, refers to little Poppy as. I am also familiar with the whole wheelchair dog thing having had a dog in the past whom I got a wheelchair for. Like Poppy, my girl who I've recently lost saved me too when I rescued her from the shelter, just as Poppy saved Sara and vice versa. Yes, I am a dog mum and proud of it! Just like Sara is. Poppy is her child just as my dogs are my children, though I only have one now. But I could relate to Sara in that sense...however, that was only the beginning. Sara Keller loves her dog, Poppy, who she considers to be her saviour. She rescued Poppy when she was left for dead and caring for the little dog has given Sara's life purpose and meaning...and she knows she would give her life for Poppy. Having grown up in Africa, Sara now lives in New York and frequents Central Park on her daily walks with Poppy, who scoots along in her wheelchair. It's like a whole other world in Central Park and Sara loves to escape there with Poppy at her side in the fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps. But little does Sara know that a stranger watches her. Every day he happens upon her daily walk in the hope of catching a glimpse of her, of working up the courage to speak to her. But to her, he remains unseen as she passes him by each time. Until one day...Sara sees Bradley sitting outside one of the Park's cafes and she asks him for a favour. Could he possibly hold onto her dog's leash while she nips in to grab a coffee, as they don't allow dogs in there? Of course, he'd be honoured. And from there, Bradley was determined to keep the conversation going as they walked together through the park and out onto the street. But Sara was hesitant. And despite his invitation for meeting up the next day in the park, she called out "that could work" as she left with Poppy down the street to her apartment. But Sara didn't meet him. And neither did she call. But Bradley would not be dissuaded. There was something about Sara... But Sara has a secret. A secret so deep and dark she doesn't want to risk someone as handsome and charismatic as Bradley finding out. And then what would he think of her? And then there was her sister, her twin sister Cece, who always seemed to destroy whatever happiness Sara had...and she couldn't risk that either. She knew that if she went out with Bradley he would naturally want to meet her twin and that couldn't happen. But despite her reluctance, Bradley's persistence pays off and the two begin dating. His penthouse apartment on Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park is a sprawling den of luxury. It even boasts a rooftop terrace with a garden, something of an oasis in an otherwise concrete jungle. And then there are the thousand dollar suits, exquisite watches and his success as a Wall Street tycoon...how could something this refined be interested in her, Sara, a graphic artist in a one bedroom apartment? But Sara doesn't realise that she isn't the only one with secrets. Just what is it about Bradley that she can't put her finger on? What is it that he is so intent on hiding? Then one day Bradley discovers that Sara has an identical twin and he becomes equally obsessed with meeting Cece as he is with pursuing Sara. But Sarah refuses. The two have a tumultuous relationship and rarely speak. Still, Bradley can't resist the pull and seeks out her Instagram page and begs to meet up with her. And so marks the beginning of the end as Sara and Bradley scramble to keep their secrets and lies from being uncovered. THE GUILTY SISTER is a fast paced read with short snappy chapters to keep the pace moving. It alternates between Sara and Bradley's narrative with a chapter from an unknown "watcher" thrown in. Despite the unravelling narrative, it is hard to discern who is telling the truth and who is lying. There are a few twists thrown in, some of which I didn't see coming. The main one, I am kicking myself for NOT seeing it. I mean how could I not? It was so obvious. lol But then there are so many red herrings thrown in along the way, the author deftly hoodwinks her readers with expertise. The final twist was a shock. Nope not see that one either. Basically, everyone is hiding something in this book. They're all a bit crazy, in my opinion. Except for Poppy Delight. It made me miss my girl a little bit more and want to hug her again. THE GUILTY SISTER is a twisted fast paced ride that will keep you guessing. Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers with a real twist and a dark side. I would like to thank #ArianneRichmonde, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheGuiltySister in exchange for an honest review. THE GUILTY SISTER was full of surprising twists and turns. You will want to soak in everything until the very last page. When Cecelia, Sara's twin sister, enters the picture, with her sun-kissed body and bloated Instagram following, will it jeopardize Sara's way of life and her budding relationship with Bradley, or can they all be One Happy Family? I read the book in two days, and I was interested throughout the story. There were only a couple of long chapters, so with the shorter chapters and the alternating points of view, the story was fast-paced. I will definitely read more books by Arianne Richmonde. I recommend the book for mature readers, due to some sexual scenes.

I had such fun writing this book and so hope you'll give it a try. Switching between first and third person with multiple narrators including neighbour Mrs Scott, Bradley and an unknown narrator known only as The Watcher. If this sounds confusing don’t worry as the author is an absolute pro and makes each voice so distinct it’s really easy to follow. The main narrator is Sara, she is the essence of all that is pure and good. A creative soul living in New York and caring for a disabled dog. She is slow to trust and open up and has avoided any romantic connections but then she meets Bradley…, When something seems too good to be true then it normally is. Bradley is good looking, exceedingly affluent and besotted with Sara. But appearances can be deceptive and deception is the absolute core of this book. Nobody is who they appear to be and this is one twisted, mind messing read that is so intriguing you have to know. Who is good? Who is bad? What really happened? I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s last book but this is something else entirely. You might even think you have worked it out with little clues left along the way, but you haven’t. The characters are all so interesting that a psychologist would have an absolute field day with any one of them on their couch. This is a first-rate thriller and a master class on duplicity and trickery and one I would highly recommend.

Here are the high points for me : Unreliable narrator NYC as the setting...always a plus Reading a thriller in October....delightful Overall. It's a pleasant read. Pick it up. If it were me and I had it to do all over again. I would binge read in one day!

The Guilty Sister by Arianne Richmonde is a WTF is going on psychological thriller that is written with POVs that will keep you guessing and being wrong most of the time. Cece is missing. Her twin Sara is suspect. There is jealousy, misdeeds and a swoon worthy boyfriend. The writing is slick, ingenious and has made me a fan of this writer. Anything else would be a spoiler. All I can say is that every character in this book has a dark side. What I like most in the story? It has a radical change in the direction through the ending of the story. There are no disappointments felt in this book. It literally encourages its readers to read in between the lines.

Wow twisty and at times tense….. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Arianne Richmonde! Sara lives a solitary happy life as a graphic designer in New York City with her handi-capable dog Poppy. However, both Sara and Bradley are hiding huge secrets from each other. Honesty in a relationship is a very important thing, so can a romance really work when both sides of a couple are lying to each other? After reading “The Newly Weds” earlier in the year by Arianne Richmond I knew I would be in for a treat reading this new offering and I was not wrong. I didn’t quite trust either of the main characters from the beginning and I was correct in thinking this. I admit I did guess the main twist at just over halfway through (at the Michelin starred restaurant with the red dress) however this did not, in any way, ruin the rest of the book for me as although it worked out that I was right, I wanted to read on just to make sure I was correct. Whilst reading this there were so many times when my head was spinning, and I honestly didn’t know who to trust and which way was up which was just brilliant. If you want a twisty, tense suspenseful psychological thriller then look no further than this book! I highly recommend it. I look forward to reading future books by Arianne Richmonde. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Arianne Richmonde for my advanced reading copy. Due out 19th October 2021.

I personally think that the storyline is really interesting but if one pays attention then one can figure out what is the main twist of the story and when it was revealed I wasn't surprised at all. It was going good until 64% but then it fell until 74% then it became boring for me because I figured out the ending. What I Like? :- 1 The premise. 2 The sisters secret. 3 Story length. What I Don't Like? :- 1 Narration. I think it was slow. 2 Bradley's character. 3 The ending which didn't have much to offer. You can read it one time without expecting much.

(Previously titled One Happy Family.) Sara is a graphic artist living in NYC who enjoys taking long walks with her rescue dog Poppy - with Poppy in her dog wheelchair. Bradley sees Sara and Poppy walking through Central Park, is immediately intrigued, and sets out to meet her. Sara, who is reserved, is slow to warm to Bradley's attentions but eventually she accepts an invitation to dinner at his resident, a luxurious penthouse. Sara finds it hard to accept that this successful, wealthy, handsome man finds her interesting and attractive. Part of this is due in part to Sara's insecurity. Her identical twin Cecelia is the outgoing free spirit who lives in Thailand, and is an Instagram influencer who has pictures of her life plastered across social media. She can get any man she wants. Sara has kept her at a distance for years, but Cecelia claims she wants to come visit. Sara simply can't allow this to happen or Cecelia will steal her boyfriend Bradley, just has she has done before. Sara hasn't told Bradley about Cecelis, but he finds out when they are having dinner at her Aunt Jenny's house and Sara has to admit to him that she has a twin. And now it seems that Bradley is looking at Cecelia's pictures online. There are plenty of secrets in this novel and everyone is keeping information from everyone else. We know from the opening that the police are interviewing Sara about the disappearance of Cecelia, and the novel follows the story along to where Sara gets to this point. The plot moves at a steady pace as the story unfolds and secrets are exposed. For awhile there will be a wide variety of speculations about what the secrets are and who may have done what. Some of the secrets, as they are exposed, are surprising while others can be surmised from information presented. Sara is a peculiar character in some ways. She is likable in many ways. She doesn't worry about appearances, loves her dog, enjoys her work, and seemingly keeps a positive attitude. On the other hand we are privy to her inner thought and something always seems just a little bit off. She loves her sister but doesn't want her anywhere near her. Part of this feeling is purposefully written into the novel to keep you guessing and wondering. Sara is a young woman living in New York while working from home as a graphic designer and caring for her special needs dog Poppy. Sara is an introvert and is happy with her small social bubble consisting of dog walkers at Central Park and her next door neighbour Mrs Scott. The last thing Sara wants is to date. But Bradley has other ideas. Bradley sees Sara at Central Park one day walking her dog Poppy and instantly becomes obsessed with her. Convinced she is the woman of his dreams and his future wife. Bradley calculates their first meeting and pursues Sara with patience and persistence. At first, Sara is reluctant to get involved with Bradley as she has a troubling past and secrets she does not want Bradley to discover. She especially wants to keep her identical twin Cece a secret. Although identical, Cece is everything Sara is not. Confident, sexy, strong willed and Instagram famous. According to Sara, Cece has a history of ruining things for her, including her happiness and love life. Slowly Bradley’s gentle persistence in pursuing Sara pays off and they start dating. But what Sara does not realize is that she is not the only one with secrets. Bradley’s whole life is one big sham and just like Sara, he too has demons and secrets that he wants to hide. While casually dating, Bradley and Sara have managed to hide their secrets from one another until the day that Bradley discovers that Sara has an identical twin. Bradley becomes obsessed with meeting Cece but Sara refuses. She explains she and her twin have a tumultuous relationship and are no longer on speaking terms. But Bradley can’t resist reaching out to Cece after he discovers her Instagram page, and begs her to meet up with him. Secretly Cece and Bradley meet up and this is the beginning of the end of Sara and Bradley as their dark secrets and lies come tumbling out. Thank you so much NetGalley UK, Bookouture and Arianne Richmonde for my advanced readers electronic copy of One Happy Family in exchange for my honest opinion and review. I absolutely loved this book and am so thankful to have been introduced to a new to me fabulous writer. One Happy Family will be released October 19th 2021!

It's rare to find a psychological suspense novel that is darkly playful, has richly drawn characters, is lush and atmospheric and is also so full of surprises the reader doesn't know who to trust. Told mainly from the point of view of Sara, the quiet retiring sister in a pair of identical twins. Sara is a dog lover, an artist and a young woman in love with her life in New York, in particular the area around Central Park. Here she meets the handsome and enigmatic Bradley. He's charming; the perfect gentleman, but is he too good to be true? And how does Sara's estranged twin, sexy Instagram influencer, Cece figure into all of this? So begins the rollercoaster story, which draws the reader in with its switching points of view. Just when you think you've nailed someone's true motivations, the story takes a swift turn. This is a beautifully written story that is a tribute to New York, the setting described so vividly and lovingly, the reader almost feels they've stepped into Central Park on a sunny spring day with cherry blossoms falling like confetti all around. A great read. I highly recommend it.

3.5 ⭐️ Thank you Netgalley for gifting me this book. I really enjoyed this read. It was incredibly fast paced and gripping through out. I found the whole concept really interesting and I loved the fact I couldn't trust any character throughout the whole read. The reason I rated it 3.5 stars, is that even though I did really enjoy it and pacing was great throughout most of the book, I found the ending just wasn't 100% for me. I also found the pace of the book slowed slightly at the end which I think effected my enjoyment. I will however recommend this book to any thriller fan as it is still a very enjoyable fun read!

I loved that the author explored something that I’ve been thinking about for a while now – the loss of identity in a world focused on social media. Now more than ever, society seems to be really wrapped up in ‘identity’ and with the internet invading our lives, we have the potential to lose our sense of self. Not only can we lose track of who we really are, but we can lose track of the credibility/authenticity of others. Richmonde focuses on how overwhelming and scary it is to try to get to know another’s authentic self with so many false identities in the world. What a better conduit to highlight her theme than twins?! Orphaned when their parents die, twins, Sara and Cecilia are each other’s ‘happy family.’ Tongue in cheek. They’re anything but happy. You know immediately that something is ‘off’ and that something terrible has happened, but when the narrative builds so slowly with so much sweetness, readers are lulled into wondering how it all went sideways. Richmonde knows how to pull the carpet out from under her readers, so watch out! Despite being identical twins and sharing the same parents, the girls have nothing in common….well, o.k., one more thing in common, but you’ll have to read to find out. One of the twins has the opportunity of unconditional love from her disabled dog, Poppy Delight. Yet, the dog’s joe de vivre can’t make her happy. One of the twins has the opportunity to be swept off her fee by a millionaire. Yet his money and attention can’t make her happy. One of the twins is a social media influencer with thousands of followers. Yet her swimsuit body and time in the limelight can’t make her happy. Being twins, they have the opportunity to be each other’s ‘person’ – the one who completes them. Yet one wishes the other were dead. You’ll have to read this book to find out what happened and why! Great escapism during Covid times, this book will give readers plenty to consider, chiefly, how much they value their identity and how much they can trust another. Publishes October 19, 2021. I was gifted this advance copy by Arianne Richmonde, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Sara and Cece are identical twins, alike in every way except that Cece is an Instagram phenomenon seen as beautiful and Sara, well, Sara is currently focused on her dog with special needs. Shortly after Sara meets the attractive, and wealthy, Bradley in the park, Cece goes missing. Why had she kept Cece a secret from him for so long? What else is she hiding? And does Bradley have secrets of his own?
