Also, my niece and nephew's names are Lexie and Carter so it was like yikes for me LOL. Overall, I found this enjoyable and I especially loved the ending. These are fantastic holiday novellas and I can't recommend them enough!

I just really enjoy these ridiculous Christmas novellas from Jana Aston. At first I was really not feeling Carter because it seemed like he was mean to the dog he inherited which is just not attractive at all lol that kind of got cleared up, but not explicitly so I'm just gonna go with it. Also, the fact that he's a professional baseball player that doesn't live in Reindeer Falls was never addressed in their HEA, but we'll just call that ✨🎄 Christmas Magic🎅🏻✨ and move on. A cute ending for this season’s holiday romance novellas in the Reindeer Falls series. Baseball start Carter Sheppard has a bad boy reputation he need to fix ASAP and the Reindeer Falls wholesome librarian who loves his newly inherited dog is his perfect answer. But can he convince her to go along with his fake engagement ploy? I really liked the epilogue in this novella which wrapped up the holiday trio with happy endings for all three couples. That being said, felt disappointed with this novella, being the last in this year’s series. As with the other two stories, we only get the heroine’s point of view. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a dual POV snob, but in this case the hero starts off as a real self-absorbed j3rk who treats the heroine poorly and suddenly turns around and starts being sweet. This felt disjointed without his thoughts. Lexi’s doormat stance regarding Carter’s treatment towards her (he never finds out that she had a crush on him when they were in high school together, which he also doesn’t realize) was unfortunate. The best part of THE BACHELOR ON THE SHELF was the great friendship between Lexi, Maggie and Sutton (the heroines from the other two novellas) which was funny and endearing. The Bachelor on the Shelf is novella #6 from the Reindeer Falls series by author Jana Aston. It is a rom-com, standalone novella told from the heroine's point of view with a happy ending. The Bachelor on the Shelf is the third book in the 2021 Holiday Reindeer Falls collection of novellas featuring three friends who each find love with one of the Sheppard brothers. They temporarily moved back to their hometown during the holiday season after their dear uncle passed to settle his estate. Ryan and Maggie found love in Elves with Benefits, and then it was Jake and Sutton’s turn in One Night with a Nutcracker. The Bachelor on the Shelf is my absolute favorite of the series. I just adored Lexi, the town’s librarian, and so enjoyed her reaction to Carter who is now a pro baseball player and her high school crush. Lexi is so genuine, honest, and real, and you can’t help but love her. Her self-reflection and the way she could laugh at herself made her totally relatable, and it didn’t take long for Carter to become smitten. While Ryan inherited his uncle’s house, and Jake inherited his farm, Carter was a little perplexed as to why he inherited his dog, Roxy. Lexi had been taking care of Roxy, and when she delivers the dog to his new owner, she is heartbroken and confused as well. But all will be revealed as Uncle Joe knew exactly what he was doing. Even though it was just for the cameras at first, I loved how Lexi and Carter went on special dates to get to know one another, and how he genuinely cared for her. It was very heartwarming to watch their love blossom and each experience character growth. Jana’s writing always draws me in and I feel the magic of Christmas in this series. Each story is a total stand-alone and is not a repeat of the other. The author gives personality and individuality to every one of her characters, and I loved getting to know them, as well as the characters in books one through three from 2020. I would have rated it five stars if it had Carter’s POV, too, because I would have loved to know what he was thinking when he first met the adorable, quirky librarian who loved books, nature, dogs, and living in a town that celebrates Christmas like no other. There are many laugh out loud moments as well as steamy and swoon worthy times, and if you are a lover of holiday romance, I highly recommend this sweet novella.

Ok I just want to start by saying I love LOVE Jana’s books especially these Christmas ones. They’re all so cute and fun to read. Lexi is the local dog rescuer. She’s loves the pooches, all kinds and every kind so when her neighbour Joe passed away she took in his beautiful dog Rudy and vowed to love him forever but there’s a little thing called a Will that’s in the way as Joe left Rudy to his sports obsessed nephew, Carter. Carter has a thing for the ladies, he sleeps about and loves doing so. So Ok I just want to start by saying I love LOVE Jana’s books especially these Christmas ones. So when a video ends up online of him he’s sponsorship is in danger and he must do what he can to make sure he secures it even if it means getting fake engaged to the sassy girl next door. From their first meeting there’s chemistry and anger, lots of anger lol. So now, I just need to say I just couldn’t enjoy this book as much as I did the others. I feel like their story was bland, barely anything happened but these characters had so much potential, I loved their story, I truly did but I just wish there was a little more oomf kinda. That alone makes me so sad because I’m a huge lover of this authors books. Even though their story didn’t really do it for me, it was enjoyable. I can’t wait to see what comes from this author in the future.

He’s just trying to fix his ‘naked ass on the internet’ scandal. Right? Carter Sheppard was a professional baseball player and was back in town. One of his brothers’ inherited their late Uncle’s house, the other inherited his land, and then Carter inherited his dog Rudy lol. Rudy had been spending time at the next door neighbor’s house, Lexi. She had fallen in love with Rudy and didn’t want to give him back. So when Carter proposed a fake engagement, to help his public image, and in return Lexi got to keep the dog, she couldn’t say no! All of his sexy smiles and his lustful glances looking me up and down are just his usual tools of the trade. I’m a librarian, he’s a ballplayer. I know this story, and it won’t end up well for me. Lexi was best friends with Maggie and Sutton from the previous two books, and Lexi was my favorite by far! She was Reindeer Falls head librarian and loved books passionately. I loved that she was down to earth, sweet and had the biggest heart ever! This story was told from her point of view and I loved her thoughts. Some of them were quite hilarious and cracked me up at times. But when it came to Carter, she knew she had to be careful. Yes Carter was gorgeous, but the man had a player’s heart and would only break Lexi’s heart. “You know, we are engaged,” he says, voice low. “So, if you wanted to kiss me hello, you’d be welcome to.” Carter had lived the ultimate bachelor’s life. Fans flocked to him and he could have any pick of women. He was talented, seductive, beautiful and definitely sure of himself. But I loved how Carter was so much more than meets the eye. And as he slowly started to show all of his sides to Lexi, I fell for him ever harder. Carter was the ultimate book boyfriend! His lips meet mine like the first snowflake fluttering down in a storm. Light, unexpected. And then like an unexpected blizzard, we go from zero to a hundred in a heartbeat. Lexi and Carter together were a ton of fun and steamy too. With fake dates to help his image and to sell their fake engagement, each moment led to them touching. And those times spent together created feelings that shouldn’t exist. Right?! Because they were only playing a part. What Lexi felt for Carter surely couldn’t be real. For a novella, this pulled off the fake dating trope perfectly and I was completely hooked! He’s looking at me the way people in the library look when they’ve found their favorite book. And as the horses tug us along the tree-lined path, Carter’s hand reaches for mine. And I take it. Which is definitely crazy. Even crazier, I don’t think this date will be ending with just a kiss. If you’re looking for a quick, Christmas fix, I can’t recommend The Bachelor on the Shelf enough! Technically you could easily read this as a standalone, but I am glad I had read the previous books in this series. Even if Lexi’s besties were over the top. And for those that love happily ever afters, there was an epilogue that was set a year later and I loved it! We got to see what Lexi and Carter, Sutton and Jake and also Maggie and Ryan were up to! I closed this book happy and smiling. I loved being back in Reindeer Falls! For more of my reviews, please visit:

Sounds like a win-win situation. Right? I love that Lexi loves Rudy the way she does. She is so good to him and I understood her resistance to give him to Carter even though she legally has too. I also understood why she goes along with the crazy plan Carter thinks up. Lexi and Carter are hilarious together. They are complete opposites but Carter figures out a way to get Lexi on board with his plan and they are great as a pretend couple even though Lexi is convinced no one would buy their relationship. Carter really turns up his game and is the swooniest fake fiancé Lexi could have. He’s doing everything right and it gets harder for Lexi to fight the chemistry they have. Slowly the fake turns real but there was always an ending date. There is little drama and a whole lot of laughs and heat in this story. I loved getting a front row seat to their romance and they don’t disappoint. I also love Uncle Joe and his part in the story. The ending is perfect and we get more of all the character’s we love from Reindeer Falls!! *ARC generously provided by the author*

It breaks Lexi's heart to give him up, but what can she do? When Lexi drops off Rudy, Carter answers the door while on the phone with some business matter. Apparently, the conversation is not going well and Carter is angry that some scandal concerning an almost naked woman is brewing. Lexi has disdain for Carter as his womanizing is almost as famous as his baseball skills. Carter can barely be bothered to acknowledge Lexi and calls Rudy a "used dog". Yeah, he's not winning me over. But it turns out Carter needs Lexi's wholesome image to make his tarnished appearance look better. He proposes that if she can help him turn around an endorsement from Nike that is in the balance right now, she can have Rudy back. Enter the fake relationship card! Once Carter's guard is down he's not such a bad guy. He does hold an affection for the town he grew up in and has some long term plans to enrich it. Lexi comes out of her shell under his attentions and both are surprised by their response to each other. (I would have liked Carter's POV-it would have added to the story) There's a little bit of angst, some light, funny moments and a cute wrap up of the collection's three couples. If you've read any of the three, you might want to make sure you check this one out, as it has an epilogue containing all the characters from the three books.

This one the main character was a librarian, so I loved that! Although I wasn’t a fan of how she kept saying what a librarian usually wore, because that is soooooo not true. While the first two in this second set of the series were a little more whimsical and silly, this was a little more real. Again, in a good way. I really liked Carter, and of course there was always the question of why all he got was the dog when his two brothers got the house and the farm respectively. As much as I love dogs, it seemed a little bit less since Carter didn’t really know the dog Rudy, so it wasn’t based on that type of a thing. But then he and Lexi were a fun match. She started out ready to be friends, but that first meeting, wow, he did not come across as very nice. So that made a bit of an enemies to friends aspect to this one as well. Once he kind of blackmailed her into being his fake fiance though, I fell in love with him. All the dates he set up were so perfect. Whether they were social media post perfect only, or taking her to a bookstore, they were just perfect. I would have to say that Carter is definitely my favorite from this series, and I could really put him on my all-time favorite book boyfriend list. Once again I loved getting little peeks into the other two stories before this from a different point of view, it just really makes it all complete having these stories kind of taking place at the same time for all three. The epilogue was also perfect to get us a wrap up for all three couples. There were some quotes in the book that I adored, and had to save just to remember how perfect they were for a book lover like myself. “If there’s books, I’m there. Books are everything to me. Libraries, bookstores, the bookshelf at Goodwill, I’ll stop at all of them.” “There are books to be fondled, and they hate to be kept waiting.” Review first published on Lisa Loves Literature.

The Bachelor on the Shelf is the third and final book in the 2nd edition of Reindeer Falls stories. Lexi doesn't want to give him up, so Carter negotiates with her: pretend to be his fiancé to help him clean up his image, and he'll give her the dog. What ensues is classis Jana: a quirky heroine who the reader can't help but cheer for, a hunky guy who every girl would love to call their own, and throw in a cute dog to round out the trifecta! It took me a while to warm up to Carter, it rubbed me the wrong way that he kept calling Lexi everything but her actual name, like he couldn't remember what it was. But Carter had a plan that Lexi really didn't clue into until the very end, and in the bigger picture, Uncle Joe's plan for Carter and his two brothers was what every Hallmark Christmas movie is made of. I loved being back in Reindeer Falls again, and I loved seeing all three brothers and their ladies finding their happily ever after's.

And the only way he can see that happening is by faking an engagement.....to the local librarian. This may have been my favorite of the 3 in this RF collection. I really enjoyed Lexi as a character and her book loving ways. She was cute and not overly awkward. She had a deep love for the uncle's dog, Rudy and she genuinely loved her friends. Carter? Well, I couldn't really get a good feel on him (this is the problem when we don't get dual POVs in romances), but I felt like there was always more to him and that was definitely apparent with the baseball field scene. Loved the fake dating scheme and loved the present the uncle left for these two. Just too perfect for this couple. It was a good wrap up to this set. I really appreciated the epilogue we were left with. Since we didn't get epilogues in the previous books, this one was for everyone. Cute and fun small town, holiday romcom that will surely delight the lighthearted readers.

They seem to be total opposites, but they actually have so much in common: book lovers (YA fantasy novels!), dog lovers, and they are both so community-mined. Lexi is hilarious in this story and is just a constant pratfall waiting to happen: bathing suit lingerie for the win! Like the others in the series, this one is spicy enough to be inappropriate for the Hallmark Channel.

It... wasn't great. Not terrible, but not all that good either. I've been enjoying this series because each novella is a fun little under-100-page Christmas treat, but this year's installments definitely miss the mark in the romance department. I've been enjoying this series because each novella is a fun little under-100-page Christmas treat, but this year's installments definitely miss the mark in the romance department. This hero goes from a total jerk to a total sweetheart in the blink of an eye, and without his perspective, it just didn't make sense to me. We're not even sure he knows the heroine's name for a decent amount of the story, and he NEVER finds out that A. they went to high school together or B. that she has had a crush on him for years. That's... not ideal, given the way the story ends. All three of this year's heroines have self-esteem issues actually, because they all take the scraps the heroes throw their way. So, while parts of this were great, it wasn't the dose of holiday cheer that I was looking for. The story follows Lexi, a librarian who loves her hometown. When her high school crush returns home, he's nothing like she remembered. Carter is a sports star and known manhoe, and he doesn't even realize that they know each other. He's selfish and focused on his own issues, including a pesky PR problem that requires a fake fiancée. Since Lexi, apparently, looks like wife material, Carter decides that they'll date while he's in town. And Lexi, well, Lexi finds herself agreeing. But as the two spend time together, their dates start to feel all too real, and that might be a problem for everyone involved. We really do need more clues about what these heroes are thinking, because the shine has worn off now that it's been an issue with each of this year's releases. I liked One Night with a Nutcracker the most, but even that had the same problem. In this one, Carter is a complete selfish jerk at the beginning, self-absorbed and a total player. He complains that he only inherited a "used dog" and he is not nice to Lexi. We learn more about him in the blurb than we do the rest of the novella. A little more insight into him would've turned this into a sweet and sexy holiday story, but it misses the mark without that information. The second half reads better than the first, and I loved that we got that great epilogue to wrap up this year's trio of novellas. Unfortunately, I can't say that this was sugar and spice and everything nice when I was annoyed by the hero (for being a jerk) and the heroine (for falling so easily) the entire time. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this holiday romance.

Will there be another set next year.....Ho Ho Hope so! In this addition, we have Lexi the Librarian and the third Sheppard brother Carter, who happens to be a Baseball player. What did he inherit from his uncle Joe? Well some might say it was just Rudy the dog, but let me tell you, he got so much more than that. I love the way each of these heroines think, which I suppose that means I also love this authors mind as well. These gals take their job seriously, but also know a good thing when its under their nose, Lexi especially. When she agrees to be his fake fiancée, little did she know that she'd have more fun with it than she first thought. The intended purpose of these books, is to bring you some entertainment, make you smile and laugh, and maybe even bring back your Christmas spirit if you lost it along the way. They are insta love stories that will brighten your day any time of the year.

The Bachelor on the Shelf is the sixth installment of author Jana Aston’s Reindeer Falls holiday rom-com series. The Bachelor on the Shelf features Lexie the librarian and Carter Sheppard, one more of the Carter brothers in town just to collect his inheritance. Carter has two problems, he has a bad-boy image to fix and his inheritance is a dog that Lexie is extremely attached to. Lexie has only one problem, and that is Carter! Lexie is adorable in her love of animals and books. Carter goes from seemingly self-centered pro-jock to sensitive boyfriend a little too easily and without explanation., However, without that transition, what would Lexie or the reader have to swoon about? Ms. Aston has created a wonderful small town in Reindeer Falls.  I can imagine it as a snow globe scene.  The Bachelor on the Shelf has no angst and little in the way of conflict/story tension.  This quick, entertaining read is just pure fun and a true escape that got me in the mood for the holidays. 3.5-4 stars I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I have so much fun with the Reindeer Falls stories. This one is the perfect final brooch in the three new stories, and it's about Lexis and Carter. The lovely librarian and the famous baseball player strike an extremely funny bargain where she is keeping a cute dog and he cleans his player reputation. Nothing is as it seems, though, and Christmas conspires with all its romantic tricks to bring them together in bed and in love. I find Lexie adorably quirky, both her inner dialogue and her idea of sensual outfits are a laugh-out-loud parade. Carter is a surprisingly good guy with a teasing amount of hotness. I love them together. Plenty of bookish delight, seasonal scenes, a dash of misunderstandings, the intervention of fate in the name of love, and an epilogue that reunites friends, brothers, and couples in a warm, satisfying wrap-up. Long live Reindeer Falls!

This was my favourite in the series. Lex and Carter’s “fake engagement” storyline was packed with cute moments and plenty of laughs. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun Christmas read. I received an arc of this book

Probably the best of these 3. The first two female MCs were insufferable. I miss the vibes of the first three books, might reread those

FRICKING Jana Aston and her ability to make me fall in love with her Christmas themed characters. I adore Carter and Lexi. Their relationship started off with a fake engagement that ended up not being fake. The story is filled with laughter and cuteness and once again I feel like we were cheated because I want to read more about them and how they navigate through life. Hopefully this is not the end of this series and we'll get more of this cute, quirky, LOL kinda novellas in the future. *** Rev FRICKING Jana Aston and her ability to make me fall in love with her Christmas themed characters. Bachelor on the Shelf is the final book in this years installment of Reindeer Falls. It's another sweet, funny, slightly over the top, fast read. For some reason, I couldn't quite get into this book as much as the others. Carter took a minute to warm up to me, and it just felt like it was missing something. Don't get me wrong, it's still a cute book that will give you all the holiday fuzzies. My favorite part was the epilogue, which featured all the couples and gave an update on what they were up to. The perfect conclusion to this great little series.

To get a big deal with Nike, Carter needs to clean up his bad boy image. Who better to help him than the wholesome town librarian? She may claim she's not interested in him, definitely not interested in a fake relationship with him, but he knows better. Can he get her to see him for who he really is, or will his womanizing past continue to haunt him? Lexi and Carter's story was a cute way to end this batch of Reindeer Falls. Jana saved the baddest bad boy Sheppard brother for last, and gave him the cutest, most adorable heroine as his partner. I wanted a bit more heat between them, but all in all, I thought they were a cute couple and a fun way to end the Sheppard Brothers' stories. Reindeer Falls is a fun, flirty world, and I'm sad to see this season's stories coming to an end. Until next year! ARC provided by the author for an honest review.
