It not only consists of pieces which are a culmination of raw emotions but also many poetries which make you feel pangs of strife and humanity in depth The cover is simple yet attractive. The title is apt . The lovely sketches almost throughout the work speak volumes about the multi facented talented writer . This work is not only aimed at the upliftment of females but has something to offer to every individual. The traits and attributes expressed here are essential for every person if practiced sincerely. Overall a worthy read

There are a set of people who are good at writing, there are a set of people who are great at illustrating, and then comes Mehak Varun who is capable of crafting both of these things so effortlessly. Well, will talk about the poems later, first I want to mention some minor prospects that might intrigue a reader and art lover at first sight. The intro page starts with Maya Angelou's quote. Then comes a personal letter for self and the others, both on the second page and on the last page. You finish reading the letter, next you will go through two interviews of two strong women; Dr. Kiran Bedi and Dr. Seema Rao. There is certainly a lot to learn from those interviews, both to grow as a human being and to develop yourself to fight in this ever-evolving world. Next comes Varun's illustrations after every poem. If one doesn't get what the poem is telling them, they will surely get the idea from the illustration itself. 'I am me', can be denoted as a feminist poetry, written by a woman, about women, and for the women; whoever concerns. The poems are guided upon three inner themes which are divided into three separate segments; Instinct, Hope, Inner power. There are rage, sadness, and inquires in Instinct. Hope built upon void and silence, and urge to break free. Lastly the power within delves upon blooming, positivity, power, and making oneself free from the chains that strangled them. It's been a while since I last read poetry apart from my academics which followed both traditional and modern poetry writings styles, rhyming, and rhythmic approaches. While in some Varun tried to follow the style of Shakespearean sonnet while in other Rupi Kaur format. Joke apart, pick this up without keeping the targeted readers in mind, just to sail in the flow of beautiful poetry and meaningful illustrations.

It is easier said than done. Accepting ourselves the way we are is more of an internal work than an external. I Am Me is a collection of poems that revolve around a lot of themes but mostly they all come down to ourselves and how we feel about certain things. I have read a poetry book after a long time that inspired me and made me smile a bit. The author has shared so much of courage and inspiration through her words that it directly reaches to your soul. The poems deal with subjects that are sensitive yet important. Poems about life, hope, dreams and healing are woven intricately in these pages that by the end of every poem, it leaves you mesmerized. What is more fascinating about this book is that every poem contains an illustration that is illustrated by the author herself. Not just with words but she knows how to amaze her readers with her art. If you are looking to read something that inspires and moves you then this is it. For women, it contains a lot of thought-provoking pieces that will leave you motivated. In addition, the author has included interview of Kiran Bedi and Dr Seema Rao where we get a glimpse of how every woman is courageous and can do what she dreams about. Nothing is impossible if we put efforts and actions into it.

"Stand for yourself, Strengthen your voice" There are a total of 56 poems. Some follow a rhyme, while others are free verses. I was able to connect with many of them, especially ' break the glass ceiling ' , ' Mirror ' , ' The Silent Windows ' are some of my favorites. Also, it's noteworthy how the poetess added a glimpse of Shakespeare, Kipling, Angelou in her writing. The bringing of modern art along with modern poetry voices her unique perspective , break away from the shackles of tradition and embrace of the spirit of modernity! This poetry speaks to you dear woman ,who has that ' Killing Instinct' perch onto ' hope ' and understand the ' power within you '. Except some verses which I felt blatant, all others were beautiful! Recommended to poetry lovers!

In the book, some poems have a rhyming scheme while some are in free verse. There were some poems with which I feel very connected while some were just plain for me. As the book progresses from the first part to the third part, my love and connection towards them also progress. I loved the third part, the power within the most. Most of the poems in the collection were written by having women at the center and it is the specialty of the book. The poems have deep meaning and a sense of freedom in them which I loved. There are many illustrations in the book, illustrated by the poet herself which are gorgeous. Also, the cover of the book is eye-catching and engaging. Overall, the book was engaging and the poems were appealing and attractive. If you are someone who is looking to start reading poetry, you can definitely try it out.

This is a poetry book with so many sub parts under each chapter o a part. The book is divided into three parts under which lots of inspirational thoughts are written in the form of poetries. The favorite part of mine is “The Power Within ‘ I really got uplifted after reading this part and his is one of the beautiful portions in this book which I made through as a blessing. Quoting one of the poetries from the book “Existence of my soul” Where do I belong ? Where do I subsist? The essence of my soul, The existence of my whole. ……………………… The book if also filled with wonderful illustrations and also the title of the book can also be found in the form of thought as one of the sub-part in the book which I truly admire. “The glimmer in the eyes,/ The confidence in the heart./ All it takes you to be/ The one you are./ If I could fly/ And fly above the clouds/ To see the radiance in every smile/ and ardour in every heart.” These lines spark a ray of hope in hearts that we are enough and if the chance is given we’ll fly high above everything and see the positive in everything and everyone. “Maybe/ God has his own reasons/ But why so much suffering? Why is there so much pain?/ Maybe/ He chose me for the test/ But “The glimmer in the eyes,/ The confidence in the heart./ All it takes you to be/ The one you are./ If I could fly/ And fly above the clouds/ To see the radiance in every smile/ and ardour in every heart.” These lines spark a ray of hope in hearts that we are enough and if the chance is given we’ll fly high above everything and see the positive in everything and everyone. “Maybe/ God has his own reasons/ But why so much suffering? Why is there so much pain?/ Maybe/ He chose me for the test/ But why I cried and hollered/ To be on the verge of congest.” Sometimes we suffer so much that we don’t look through the bigger picture and take on the egocentric approach that this is all for the worst but at the later stage of life, we find out that whatever happened, happened for the best. This book is divided into three spectrums and it takes us through a journey from a dark tunnel to a very bright place that is filled with hope and the power that we hold within. This is a lovely read and I finished it in two sittings. These poems will bring you down to bring you up and is quite relatable. It pierced right through my heart. This is a must-have for all the poetry lovers out there. I 100% recommend it.

They talk about our unfulfilled dreams, unfinished emotions hope and resilience and again everlasting desires. They also focus on few social stigmas that unfortunately still prevail and deteriote the quality of our lives. They are all accompanied by beautifully creative illustrations that I truly liked. In simple yet beautiful verses she has portrayed her hearts songs quite aptly touching the reader's hearts. They portray the simple joys and essence of life

I found this poem to be really heartfelt. ✍The author has put up a lot of work in writing this book. She is aware of women's emotions and how they are affected by numerous factors. Through this book, she expresses the feelings of women in words. You must have read this. After reading these poems, you will truly feel good.
