The only extensive critical look on slam poetry and spoken word I have really come across. As such it is a valuable resource for anyone wanting to learn more about that background, politics and culture behind slam. I don't really agree with everything but I am regardless in awe by the extensive work and effort that has gone into this book. It's never easy being the first one.
