Oh look, it's another Weyland-Yutani-is-running-an-experiment story, that seems poorly thought through - this is really becoming a trademark of Johnson's approach to the Alien universe. I don't think WY would send out an egg and a living person to get impregnated on the ship etc. That sounds wildly dangerous and unnecessarily messy. Corporate is all about streamlining, about hiding the nasty stuff. I'd expect them to freeze an already impregnated person, and dump that (tranquilized) person in the Oh look, it's another Weyland-Yutani-is-running-an-experiment story, that seems poorly thought through - this is really becoming a trademark of Johnson's approach to the Alien universe. Corporate is all about streamlining, about hiding the nasty stuff. I'd expect them to freeze an already impregnated person, and dump that (tranquilized) person in the place the alien is supposed to ravage. (There's also an inconsistency with established Johnson xenomorph mythology - in the arc before this, a facehugger senses a sick victim isn't able to serve as a host, here it's trying to stick its proboscis down the throat of a corpse for an hour..) It's kind of impressive how all tension drains from the story as soon as the xenomorph starts attacking. There's nothing interesting or smart about how Cruz gets the upper hand. The ending is a dud (another Johnson trademark, it seems). I quite liked Charlie as an idea (although there's a reveal that feels like yet another remember-this-from-the-movies!?!??). Why not tell the story completely from his perspective, see him getting prepped, him getting his mission, read his thoughts in reaction.. I know it's Marvel, so risk-averse it'll make your eyes water, but I wish they'd set a writer on this that doesn't just reheat clichés from the movies, trying to cover up the dullness with stupid new xenomorph forms. I used to criticise Dark Horse for some of their Alien choices, but at least they tried something interesting and different.

Five stars for me. Really? The one guy I hate out of the entire series more than anything. Kudos. A great episode to be honest and I can't wait for more. I can never get enough of these. Full.of action, plenty of gore and horror. Don't remember much about the characters though which means none stuck out. Five stars for me. Really? Solid fill in the blank issue on what happened from first arc. I'm glad phillip is staying and we're getting a new artist. Solid fill in the blank issue on what happened from first arc. I'm glad phillip is staying and we're getting a new artist.

A massive step up. Looks like marvel have stopped bottling it and finally got some good gore without it being just for the sake of it. Fills in the gap from arc 1 and art is a big improvement over last few issues. Maybe this is why they are already ‘rebooting’ the series with a new issue 1 as it’s tone is much darker than the first run.
