I thought this book was satisfactory. It could have been better. Okay, I am a Disnerd, Disney Fan, a lover of all things Disney, whatever you want it to call it. So, reading a book about the man who made the mouse in a narratively, bland, unbiased way was not exactly what I wanted. There were some things that surprised me like learning that Disney had created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, signed a contract to Universal through Mintz, got cheated, and Disney didn't earn the rights back to Oswald until I thought this book was satisfactory. There were some things that surprised me like learning that Disney had created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, signed a contract to Universal through Mintz, got cheated, and Disney didn't earn the rights back to Oswald until 2006. I never knew that one of Walt's daughters was adopted, and that Lilly suffered several miscarriages. I know that none of us are perfect, but I was still shocked to learn that even Walt had done wrong. During the second Red Scare, (1941, I believe) staff of the Disney company went on strike and later Walt was a "friendly witness" in court to "name names" of who he believed were communists in the studio. There were also reports that employees of Walt's in the 20s and 30s said that he would be demanding, expecting more of them than possible, and the salary was not enough and the working conditions were not ideal. I guess I was looking for something that talked more about the magic of Disney, rather than the "this is this, and that is that", or specifically, a movie was made, provided money, onto the next project. I was devastated to hear about Walt's mother though. What a sad way to go. Roy and Walt built a house for their parents, built the furnace wrong and Flora passed. It was nice to learn that Walt did many other cartoons before Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. So, this book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't my fave. I recommend this book to Disney-curious readers.

Walt Disney by Louise Krasniewicz is a biography that takes you deep into the life of the man who made dreams come true. The book explores Walt’s journey from a kid who liked to draw to becoming one of the worlds most iconic men. This book is well written and organized nicely, the language is easy to understand, and there is enough of a story surrounding the factual parts that is a good read. I have only read a few biographies, but I really did enjoy this one, although it was pretty long. I would rate this book a 4, it was a good book other than the fact that it was really long. I enjoyed reading it and learning about how Walt Disney created Disney and made it what it is today. I’m not sure I would recommend this book to someone for a like free time read, but if you were doing a project or wanted to learn about him, I would definitely suggest it.

"Walt Disney: A Biography" was definitely one of the most interesting biographies that I have ever read. I have always been very interested in Walt Disney and anything Disney related, so this biography was quite intriguing to me. The author did a great job of fitting a lot of information into only 11 chapters, and not too much unnecessary information was added. Not only was Walt's successes mentioned, but his faults and bad times were also included. Yes, Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, and one of the biggest animation companies in the world, but this biography let me see all of the struggles that he had to go through in order to succeed in the ways he did. I would recommend this biography to anyone, boy or girl, especially if you are interested in Disney.

kudos for not shying away from Walt's union-busting and McCarthy snitching, but some missed opportunities in sidestepping the rampant anti-semitism, Nazi collabs, copyright law abuse and kid fucking. considering all the fucked up stuff Walt did, not to mention what goes on in his name, it's sad that the Smigel short is in many ways more illuminating than this, and 3 hours and 56 minutes shorter to boot. you want to talk about some classic animated IP worthy of a reboot/franchise it’s that Smigel kudos for not shying away from Walt's union-busting and McCarthy snitching, but some missed opportunities in sidestepping the rampant anti-semitism, Nazi collabs, copyright law abuse and kid fucking. considering all the fucked up stuff Walt did, not to mention what goes on in his name, it's sad that the Smigel short is in many ways more illuminating than this, and 3 hours and 56 minutes shorter to boot. you want to talk about some classic animated IP worthy of a reboot/franchise it’s that Smigel short. open the vault!

This book gave me an insight to Walt Disney's life. How Diz (the name that he preferred to be called with)was struggling with his dream and finally give (or sell) the dream to everyone. The most interesting part of the book is at the last chapter. I just knew that Disney has become a metaphoric term to describe something that are high quality, creative, and the best of their class as well as those that are commercial. Maybe you can take a look to another biography of Walt Disney if you like an inspiring biography more than only a historical information. Another things that I really want to know about Disney is all the critics that goes to him. The negative part of him that being told here and there is not really discussed well in this book too.

This book was very unique compared to other books. At the very beginning of the book it showed a timeline in the middle of the first chapter. It was really nice to have that to summarize up what the whole book is about. I like the things that the author was talking about. The small things in Walt,s life that were big in a way.

An interesting man with an amazing vision who ended up owning the company that originally fired him for a lack of creativity.
