This was an excellent overview of houseplant selection, care, and just about everything else an amateur or intermediate gardener might ever consider. I follow Larry Hodgson's blog as well and, as always, he has an excellent sense of humor. It really brightened up what could have been a painfully dry book. After one read, my copy of this book is already dog-eared. I suspect it will become a regular reference in caring for my plants. Perfect for a newbie to houseplants because it's full of helpful information. It needs more pictures though. And I want to add that ZZ Plants (not mentioned in the book) love neglect, low light, and being pot bound, but they are poisonous to animals. My bedroom barely gets any sun and the zz is thriving! Learning to grow plants changed my life. This book was instrumental in my learning how to share living space with another living thing. Gave my copy to a friend and will buy another when I return to the US.

It's good information but no substitute for a green thumb! I've got a few plants I've kept alive over the years, so maybe there's hope! :) It's good information but no substitute for a green thumb! I've got a few plants I've kept alive over the years, so maybe there's hope! :)

I needed to follow this more closely. I seem to have a lot of droopy plants lying around.
